Thottbot Find Forms Help

  1. By default, everything matches.  This means that if you didn't change any of the default settings on a form, it would find every possible weapon/armor/quest/whatever.  Of course you have to make a selection before it even tries to search, but if you ignore things on the form, be assured that there won't be any extra limitations because of them.

  2. As in #1, selecting nothing in a drop down list means "ignore this type of thing entirely."  For example, on the armor search form there's a drop down list that says "Has Passive Effect:".  What this means is "This drop down list contains passive effects, but I'm not going to search them unless you actually select one."

  3. Selecting nothing from a multiselect box is the same way.  For example, on the quest find form there's a box listing every zone. If none are selected, that means "don't limit by zone", i.e. give me everything.

  4. Selecting multiple things in a multiselect box (either by click, hold and drag, shift click, ctrl click, or something else depending on OS) means "give me anything I've selected".  For example, selecting Cloth and Leather on the Find Armor form will result in any cloth or leather armor found.

  5. If it's a pair of boxes with a - (dash) between them, then it's usually a numeric range.  For example, on the Armor Find form, there's pair of boxes after "Level:" that select the minimum level for the item.  If either of these boxes has a number in it, it will select a range of levels.  Thus if the first box contains the number"15", it means "give me any item that has a minimum level requirementof 15 or greater".  If both boxes have a number, it selects any items within that range.

  6. If multiple options are selected, it ANDs them all together. For example, if you select Cloth armor and minimum level 15, then it will return any items that are made of Cloth and have minimum level of 15 or higher.
