not sure why thott hasn't picked this up yet, complete the talbuk clefthoof and windroc mastery q's in nagrand and kill the elites as well and you'll be able to pick up another quest, similar to the chain in STV where you have to kill king bangalash at the end. the final elite quest gives totem of the plains as a reward!

This is a very useful totem for pvp, because using lesser heal in pve is not considered mana efficient and only used in emergancies.

And in PvP you expect bursty damage so casting a long heal might not always be the right choice _And_ in pvp mana isn't an issue.

i think you've got it twisted. there's only two heals i regularly cast in pve: Lesser Healing Wave (and LHW rank 5 to top off warlocks) and chain heal. Consequently, this is the best non-epic healing totem you can get.

GHW is only to be used in emergencies in PVE because it's not mana efficient at all. usually i use it in heroics alongside NS when the tank is getting hammered by Mortal Strike mobs or those other few packs in the instance that hit much harder than normal. nonetheless, this is still better for a resto shaman than Totem of the Void.

You're a fool. Healing Wave does more than 2x the healing of Lesser Healing Wave for less than twice the mana. How can you claim it's mana inefficient? LHW in PvE is for when you need a heal NOW, and your Nature's Swiftness is down. LHW is used in PvP because if you try a long heal you're likely to get kicked, earth shocked or silenced before it goes off.

If you're a main healer in a raid, it's dangerous to heal the tank when he gets down to 50%, so you have to heal him earlier, and often. When you use a 3 second heal to heal a little bit of life, it's a waist of mana, so it's actually mana efficient in PvE to actually use lesser healing wave.

The trick is to start healing when you *expect* the tank to lose a lot of health in the next 3 seconds. You don't wait until he has low enough life for the heal. This shouldn't be that hard if you know the tank and the enemy he's fighting.

Right now I get about 3.5 points of healing per point of mana with LHW, and 3.9 points of healing per point of mana with healing wave (level 68 resto). That might not sound like a big difference, but over 20,000 points of healing, you save 600 mana, granting an extra healing wave (which for me atm gives ~2.5k). If you factor in crits, I imagine you're gaining a bit more.

One last point to be made - you do not regenerate mana while casting. You will likely find yourself casting more often if you use LHW. Although the healing done per second of casting time is about the same between the two spells, you do not begin regenerating mana for a couple seconds after you finish casting. Since you will have longer between casts with healing wave, you will regenerate more mana.

Healing wave is more mana efficient. QED

My question is, does it increase the base amount of healing, or just a flat +79 on the top?
