Loving the +35hit, makes it worth equipping. :3
The proc rate does not seem to be upped as it was suggested in PTR. Anyone else notice this?
what is the proc rate in this?
Procs 1,5 times per minute
cept for the fact that it only proc's the next two nature dmg spells. my poisons dont proc it i dont know if this would
Just saved this from the DE pile tonight on my feral druid. Didnt need the hit really (kinda wish it were crit instead) but it could come in handy.
The proc seems to hit for a little over 200 (a little lower then i expected) most of the time and procs fairly often in cat; maybe once or twice per mob.
Our enhance shaman loves this thing but unless you need the +hit you might not want to take off your hourglass just yet.
so this actually does proc for feral druids? I wasnt sure since it is an equip bonus but the proc kind of is a chance on hit.
Just got this tonight and wow, took it into the battle ground and BAM, accounted for 3% damage according to newest damage meters. Granted, I'm a beast spec hunter, so between autoshots, steady and instants, I hit very fast, well worth it for the +hit, the proc is very nice too. Great trinket for those of us who have a fast attack speed.
Wow,what a retarded post.
Yes, hunters need +hit, and this goes a long way towards the 7-9% we need, the fact that it procs on ranged as well as melee means it's meant for either.
Think, or at least try to, before posting dumbass comments. This is a great trinket for hunters PvE. Adds much needed hit, allowing for a wider range in weapon choices that don't come with hit, and adds more damage to ranged attacks. PvE all the way, theres much better for PvP, like Insignia and Lunacy trinket.
lol nice one, that guy is just a hater... I mean its just Kara right?
Kinda out there question:
Does this proc more frequently/harder for rogues with the +poison applicating/dmg talent? If nothing else, it still seems kind of a build-specific drop, as some items are.
Can't argue with +35 hit though, sometimes. That's just major in PvE, poison or not. QQ on the proc rate, the real bread and butter is the +hit flood.
as a fury warrior the proc rate for me seems to be really good, at one point it did over 6000 damage by the end of a boss fight. plus the hit rating is also quite win
i think the proc rate is hidden if you have a weapon buff aplied cause when i have my poision off i see this thing proc like a mad man but with poision on i dont see it proc ever
Can anyone confirm that? Kinda crappy if it's true...
I see it proc alot, as a mutilate rogue, it's nice to see 4 yellow damage at once.
i got it on my shaman, respeced enhas to try it out, 7.67% hit plus 6 from talents.
i gotta say this is a very nice enhas pve trinket, SS makes it do like 400+dmg and 600dmg crits heh. procs a lot too with dw wf.
On my hunter, not sure how often it procs, but it always accounts for 3-5% of my damage on the damage meter at the end of long battles. So it's basically a 5%+ dps boost.
Anyone know if +spelldamage applys to the proc? As an enhancement shaman I'd like to know cause the patch is giving us 30% of our ap as spelldmg :P
Not a clue, but I doubt it. Just a hunch but it probably uses the same mechanics as rogue poison. Which I know for a fact isn't affected by spell damage. Tested it myself. A long, long, long time ago it did. But that was like in beta or something. *shrug*
your question make NO SENSE...
when you proc the poison..it deals damage to them...wala...how hard is that to understand...
it procs with poisons on but seems to slow down . That or i just dont notice it as much. either way a proc is a proc, no?
n rogues, if you spec more dmg done by poions will it do more dmg with this trinket also ?
Well, no. The rogue talents @ Assassination that gives more Poison damage, ain't givin' more nature damage. So no, the proc won't get better by having that thing.
I also want to know if poison spec makes this hit harder. since it is both a poison and nature damage I am going to try this out and see if it hits/crits harder
is it worth while getting this on my feral druid? atm i have the hourglass and alchemy trinket and about 140 hit rating already but i'm not sure how much +hit druids need,anyone able to tell me?
Recently got this. Seems to proc well. But that +35 hit, woot!!! I got this along with my Netherblade Gloves.
I was finally able to ditch my Cloak of the Craft and my Terokkar Tablet of Precision for this trinket and a Blood Knight War Cloak and still come out with a net gain of +17 Hit Rating, increasing my secondary stats in the process.
Got this, is really nice even though i won over our gm, who got very angry.
Just got this today. On a pug, I rolled a 1. they felt so bad for me they gave it to me =P It crit like 700 for me. Its amazing and i love the + hit rating.
I also tank with this on with 14K+ hp 500+ def and 20/20/25 avoidance ... u barely miss , it is great . i would probably wear it without the nature damage but that is just icing on the cake. I got it mainly for my fury set though with it complimenting dragonspine . Funny thing though , rogues obviously cried when i get dragonspine even though i out dps them but it was a ret pally that wanted the vial over me , go figure :P sorry the edit was my question ... is there a cap for fury warrior , for hit rating that is when raiding??
Fury warriors +hit cap is around 200-250 we only actually need +10% hit to make sure all our abilities hit, but more is better for your offhand.
"I don't want to waste a roll on this stupid trinket, my CRIT trinkets are better."
Well, this sentiment bothered me because I couldn't believe that a level 88 blue Bladefist's Breadth could POSSIBLY be better than this Kara epic. So I did a little math. This is based on the HUNTER attack table (it's simpler), but you I imagine you will find similar results for melee classes.
Base
====
Miss 9%
Block 5.4%
Critical 25%
Hit 60.6%
Damage (Survival, BM) = 1.106 damage
Damage (Marksmanship) = 1.181 damage
With +1.2% crit
============
Miss 9%
Block 5.4%
Critical 26.2%
Hit 59.4%
Damage (Survival, BM) = 1.118 damage ; 1.085% over base
Damage (Marksmanship) = 1.1966 damage ; 1.321% over base
With +2.2% hit
============
Miss 6.8%
Block 5.4%
Critical 25%
Hit 62.8%
Damage (Survival, BM) = 1.128 damage ; 1.989% over base
==> 83.3% MORE Damage than +crit
Damage (Marksmanship) = 1.203 damage ; 1.862% over base
==> 40.1% MORE Damage than +crit
As you can see, Romulo's Poison Vial results in significantly more average damage over Bladefist's Breadth!
So that should only leave the following question in your mind: do you care more about your own DPS or procs based on crit that may increase the party's DPS (e.g. Expose Weakness).
9% miss? Are you taking it as read that the subject has no hit whatsoever? I think you'll find the dps gain you're indicating is largely from the hit increase, not from the trinket proc at all.
I'm a hunter. Looking at Cheeky's hunter spreadsheet and substituting three of my gems with Rigid Bladestones to put me safely over the hit cap (ah, fantasy WoW), I take a 5 dps loss if I replace my Hourglass of the Unraveller with the poison vial. If I replace my Bloodlust Brooch with it, I take a whopping 9 dps loss. And for the record, if I switch my old Bladefist's Breadth back in and replace it with the vial, I *still* take a loss of 3 or 4 dps.
So this is a terrific trinket if you aren't hit capped - but otherwise, it's a bit pants. IMO, hunters should always pass this to rogues, who need in excess of 200 more hit than we do. A hunter will hitcap and replace this with something that buffs their damage before they ever leave Karazhan.
You can't swap trinkets in combat, and private servers just have bad glitches like that.
omg on my private server i ran up to illidan and killed him in one hit i wonder if that works in the real game i think it does.
Get real...
specifically says unique. so no, no equipping 2 at the same time.
Good for rogues who need the Hit rating Proc is good if ur lazy like me and never bother to use my trinkets. would trade for brooch (badge of justice) trinket only after i maxed my Hit. I believe that rogues dual weilding may also be a bonus to the proc.
I just ran some testing on the proc rate, doing just auto attacks:
1018 hits out of 1057 swings
21 procs of Romulo's Poison
Total proc damage: 5950
Average proc damage: 283
Proc rate per hit: 2.06%
Proc rate per swing: 1.99%
Proc % of overall damage: 2.28%
I'm guessing it only procs on hits, either way the proc rate is about 2%. For a combat dagger rogue with slice'n'dice up all the time, that's anywhere from about 1.75 to 2 procs per minute, depending on offhand weapon speed. Or 7.9 to 9.4 dps. That's not including special attacks, so we'll be generous and call it 10 - 12ish dps. Not really a fantastic dps boost by any measure. Thank God Blizz added that hit rating.
possibly one of the best rogue/hunter trinkets in game, not saying that IT IS, but its definetly right up there.
Oh, and by the way, to end some debates, if you are using this for the proc, then you are using this trinket for the wrong reason.... its the +hit on this thing that makes it good, the proc is just a small bonus, thats all.
Don't overestimate this trinket. According to my rogue spreadsheet (from raidcal), the Hourglass of the Unraveller does more damage.
It might depend on your gear & spec ofcourse.
Got this Saturday. I have a Ret pally and it rocks. Procs about every fourth it. average damage 253.
Rogues need stupidly high hit compared to hunters. You should have let him take it.
Romulo's Poison Vial is decent if you're no where near the hit cap. If you're close, then go with something else.

Quick question. I'm a combat rogue that just won this (woot!) My current hit rating is 220, and my trinks are hourglass and the abacus. which trinket should i replace with this? Thank you for any advice! =D
