Why in the world would speed matter? Any tank that gets this isn't going to rely on the rifle to build aggro...
If dps doesn't wait for the mob(s) to start hitting/be hit by the tank, a gun isn't gonna make ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL!

2: NOT A FREAKING HUNTER.
And any hunter who is neither 1 nor 2 who still can't pull it off is probably dealing with morons who count on hunter's to be OFF-TANKS.

Any Guild that can get far enuff to ever see this beauty drop will have a pretty good idea of wich person (not neccisarily CLASS) should get it... its all about coordination, and to get that far you would KNOW wich guildie would use all the qualities of the gun to full effect =P
But weapon speed has no impact on how fast you can get of your first shot. *Every* Bow, Gun and Crossbow in the game has a 1.5 seconds cast time, at least for warriors. Weapon speed then mandates how long it will take to get your next shot.
A Thrown weapon, on the other hand, has a cast time of 0.5 seconds, making it very pleasant to use for pulling.
guys please if your in a guild who got this far for it to drop you must know that guild progrression is paramount.. im a lvl 70 hunter is a very good guild and i would all day pass this to a warrior !!!!! if i needed it it will only be for pvp and not pve.. the warrior needs more stam ... i wouldnt pass to a rogues though
If some of the comments after my post from yesterday are from hunters, you define the term "huntard".
-This weapon for a hunter for pvp? Look at the DAMAGE RANGE not the dps. PvP is about BURST DAMAGE. Melmorta's Twilight Longbow puts out more top end burst damage than this ffs. Oh because it has a big plus to stamina it's pvp? NO. Get something with a big damage range, a + to crit rating and + to AP. PVP armor is designed with higher stamina and less AP and agility than pve gear. It isn't crucial that your wpn have stamina too unless you're under geared.
-Too fast for BM hunters with serpent swiftness, YES. Think of your autoshot like an unseen cast bar (you can get an addon btw). Now if you're a BM hunter with max in SS and have the consortium ammo pouch your wpn speed with this gun is 1.0. If you are any kind of hunter at all you try to work a shot in between your autoshot. By doing this you increase your DPS Well, 90% of the time for your rotation you're going to be using steady shot which has a 1.5 sec cast. Obviously you can't have a gun with 1.0 speed and cast steady shot with a 1.5 speed without one overriding the other. Since your steady shot will override your autoshot, your autoshot cast resets again without firing. This is called clipping your autoshot. YOU'VE JUST GIMPED YOUR DPS. Even a survivial or MM spec'd hunter worth his salt isn't going to take this weapon. MM's generally like to work 2 shots in between and Survivial is probably looking for all things with agility to give is raid better EW.
So for those of you so quick to flame, soak that in before you tell someone else to l2p 'cause I'm guessing you rarely see the inside of a 5-man much less a raid instance.
EDIT: I took out some of my snide comments after a CD period. My fellow hunters 95% of the ranged wpns out there are made for us. This is not one of them.

Fin, thanks very much for spelling it out. I'm leveling a BM hunter at the moment and very few posts explain exactly why a fast weapon becomes inefficient.
Having said that, I don't think that it was particularly obvious until you spelled it out.

Your post speaks to PvP. Mine speaks to DPS. DPS = PVE. Your point is not well suited in what I'm trying to convey.
In all sincerity, I don't put much stock into someone citing a particular event to support their position either. Gearing and play experience skew outcomes significantly. IMO with PVP I want big dmg in the shortest period of time possible. What I'd like to see is how on paper doll you're doing more dmg over say 20 seconds (my guess for a 1v1 pvp event to occur and end). with high lord's recurve vs an equivalent lvl 60 epic wpn that is slower.
Incase you did not realise, I had to pvp enough to be able to obtain that bow ontop of the fact I am in an rp-pvp server.

Yes, I do know BM spec'd pvp'ers. 2 on my arena team and another 2 that are in my guild. And, o yeah, me. I'm 4 weeks out from the Merciless Gladiator Xbow, 2 weeks if I go with the season 1 xbow. I've got the season 1 Shoulders and Gloves from the Glad pursuit set. In case you didn't know you have to pvp in the arenas to get those. I might have been able to obtain another piece or even the season 1 xbow by now but I didn't start arena'ing until mid-April. BTW I'm also 20 EOS marks and about 5k honor away from my Veteran's Chain Sabatons. I don't consider myself an elite pvp'er by any means and our arena team is in the middle of the pack. So you'll have to excuse me if I'm not entirely awestruck with your lvl 60 bow and quiver.
A little tidbit for you: Any hunter who is trying to cast aimed shot or steady shot while directly engaged is a dumber than a sack of rocks. Grats on downing some scrub MM.
You said you came here looking for points on why speed isn't good for a hunter. No you didn't, you came here to argue and flex your l33t-ness. Why else would you respond to a post about PVE raiding and how shot rotation plus this weapon's speed gimps DPS WHEN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STRATEGY IS USED FOR PVP. I scarcely touched on pvp except to suggest something with higher top end damage.

Yes, higest dps is not always best. Stats and speed play a big roll, which is why a 41/20 bm spec'd hunter will lose dps taking the sunfury bow from prince in kara over the wolfslayers sniper rifle. Speed. Too fast you can't get good cycles, too slow your wasting time. I would never roll on this piece, unless every warrior and rogue already had it, and it was just becuase I had space in my bank to show it off. It's crap. No stats at all to benefit a hunter.
Be happy they made a gun for tanks and rogues. Now you don't have to worry about them going for the real ranged weapons.
i agree 100%, i have a 70 hunter as well, this is sumthing i'd pass on, despite the good dps. It's too fast for my taste, and us hunters dont need dodge, we dont melee enuf for it to matter.
Simply a Warrior gun, the fast speed is meant for faster pulls if a pat is closer to other mobs.
yah , a gun with good agility or attack power would give a hunter more dps than this
I'm a marksman hunter, and looking at the stats and mainly the speed, this gun is crap... I'll keep clippin me autoshots with it, cuz it's too freakin fast. And dps ain't everythin, ye need a slow gun too... otherwise you'll end up with worthless dps because you cannot use yer autoshot together with yer steady shot...
this weapon has tank stats, tank speed, and ridiculous dps, but dps alone doesn't make it a hunter weapon. Tanks will love it, rogues might love it, and anyone who likes the looks might love it, but for a damage-based hunter like me this toy has no good use.
a warrior relyin on the gun for initial aggro should consider takin a brain-pill, since the only function of the gun should be pullin folks towards warrior.
The amount of damage done barely has any influence, cuz if ye check yer threatmeter during a fight, the aggro obtained by the tank is huge compared to the initial shot.
Tanks don't need an epic blaster for damage, they need a blaster with epic tankin stats, which is exactly what this shooter holds
This is a tank weapon, by far. There are other ranged weapons out there that are FAAR better for Hunters.

You think this can't be a hunter item. It for the most part isn't. But why can they never make a bm hunter item. This has the speed thats it. WTF MAKE A BM HUNTER ITEM!
BM hunter weapon? Illidan's (dont say omg illidan i need to kill all other boss before) is a purelly most beneficial to BM hunter rather than MM or SV. Its procc is a very nice (if i didnt made wrong calculations) 64mp5 at best case which is a very nice for a raiding hunter. Also there are many others, Legionkiller, Serpent Spine Longbow, Black Bow of the Betrayer and Bristleblitz Striker which have the wonderfull 3.0 spd. Also u can achieve a weapon speed u want, by using passive haste items, like rings, shoulders, gloves etc. On the other hand maybe ull find some other fights more easy a Survival hunter, or even as Marksmanship due to not pet friendly(u can learn how to control ur pet anyway),while now the Haste rating items are here to balance the speed and together the screwed rotation and to give mm the chance to "breath" again as raid specc for its old "lovers".

If your guild can get to Black Temple, there's no way they'll give a gun this fast to a hunter. And no arguing will change that.

autoshot-afk aint hard, keepin a rotation is. And believe me, a little speed boost is nowhere near enough to compensate for someone effectively peppering a mob with steady-arcane-auto combo's
Go ahead and be the lazy arse, but don't get insulted when they're callin yer dps crap, cause Blizz gave us them steady 'n arcane 'n stings for a reason.
Definitely not a hunter weapon. Gread DPS but stats would only be good for a PVP hunter and i seriously doubt that a PVP hunter is gonna be doing Black Temple.

i think that this gun would be perfect for any beast matery hunters out there. with the fast 1.9 speed hunters would own by spamming steady shot. looking forward to getting a gun like this but dont look forward to going into black tmeple for it

huntards back off this wep ( im a prot pallie so it means nothing to me except the fact that a person that hasnt evn got past karazan is trying to get this wepon ) if ur guild gets to this point try and make ur point to get it if they run a dkp system then waste ur dkp on it , if they run off priority then try and make ur point for it , either way they are gonna make fun of u behind ur back for trying to take this away from the mt b/c u want it for pvp
I don't know why people argue with anyone on this site. Any Hunter in a Raiding guild would never use this because of its speed. No matter how pretty the item is you would never waste the DKP for a downgrade in DPS.
People saying its nice for PvP forgets where this drops at, somewhere no one in Gladiator gear is going to be.
Ok to give some people who have no clue about Raiding efficiency This Item could be nice for a Marks or Survival hunter. 1.9 speed X .85 = 1.62 Base speed with Quiver for your autoshot. Steady shot has nothing to do Weapon dammage,Arrows, and scope dmg unless you use a crit scope. So from here you say how does one get the shot rotation to maximum Efficiency. You Get 7% In Haste Items which for Raiders is not difficult to get and that brings Autoshot down to 1.51....So from here you L2 Maketh Das Macro and your steady auto can basically fire at 2 shots per 1.5 seconds.....If you are really good you can mix an arcane shot being that it is an auto shot and per every 6 seconds get an extra shot in.....BTW when I am raid buffed my Base crit is 45% with my 4 piece of t5 having my steady shot at 50% with an occasional +10% crit bonus for Master tactician.....My crits never hit Below 2200 with Sunfury Bow while raid buffed.
Some people will try and argue that they can get an auto, arcane, multi shot, auto rotation and they certainly can but Multi shot is on a 12 second cool down and both shots cost tremendously more mana....

You want a fast weapon that makes big aggro on a pull, if your a warrior, and this really isn't that amazing in that aspect.
It's got stamina and dodge, but considering it's low speed I would let a hunter roll on this :P
But if you have goblin rocket launcher, it may be a different story for you, not sure XD
okay. for ppl who haven't yet noticed. look at the speed. and the dps. a Beastmastery hunter with the 20% attackspeed talent, rapid fire and the improved aspect of the hawk proc. not to mention trinkets and hasteratings. think the same as me? "omg that hunter is using a machinegun!" wash your mouths and let hunters get this!

Not a hunter weapon. It's not like you're at lvl 48 with Hurricane OMGWTFBBQ so fast speed. With the introduction of Steady Shot in TBC. Using this gun, which is way too fast, have fun clipping Auto Shot and your DPS goes down the drain.
A hunter has stepped into BT would not want this weapon. Period. If he roll for it, he should be /gkick for being a retard.
