Actually the icon seems like it uses the model of the teir 6 warrior helm. A whole slew of helms are showing up with this icon so hopefully Blizz did something to distinquish them at least a little bit.

Block is amazing good sir.
By using shield block, you can easily have enough block chance to block any attack that is not parried or dodged. I believe the same is true for paladins through redoubt/holy shield.
Block value is a different story..
pallys are a bit different. Since redoubt is only a 10% chance on procing when being hit, its not nearly reliable enough to count on. I got nearly 85% on my tankadin between dodge/parry/block with holy shield up. It's a nice helm, but I don't think a tankadin will ever be tanking this far into end game to be really honest.
I wouldn´t be so sure i have seen a paladin tank in mount hyjal, Just that they are better at aoe tanking. For a boss a warrior is the best then a druid.
You guys are misled. Holy shield can make a tankadin above 102.4% uncrushable with only kara gear or even lower. I don't count on redoubt. Actually paladins only take redoubt talent to get the subsequent shield absorption talent.
Holy shield has 8 charges in 8s instead of warrior shield block 's 2 charges in 5s. My holy shield never is used up. I have wws report to prove I got 0 crushings on Lurker adn Gruul, keeping holy shield up all the time. (My avg hit from Lurker was only 3980. ) Thats avoiding a 9k crushing hit from Lurker. I have seen wws reports whenw warriors tank them and they get crushings on Tidewalker, Lurker, Gruul, 5 crushings every 3 minutes, making their hp go to 5% hp nearly dieing or dieing every time.
Holy shield is op , we dont get burst dmg like warriors!

once your at that stage of geting this helm you want to drop all your crapy block raitings and go for more dodge/parry... Specialy as pallys since you stock up on block rating to get cheep uncrushable at start of your tanking carrer
Idd prefer 50% miss/dodge/parry and 22% block raiting(+30% holy shiled) as my mitigation stats
Would still keep 50%block(and not any lower) since its nice for threat

Prioritizing stats is ok, stacking them is not.
Just so no-one misunderstands, he means he could get all the stats he would need to tank mara by wearing *just this* at level 50 (assuming it was possible)
Edit: And no, not a set item. Probably has the same model as the warrior T6 helm though.
If a prot pally can get access to this helm, he can stack 260 block rating and 401 defense rating that buffs their block chance to 45.53% (without holy shield or reckoning of course) and their block value to 803, while still retain 62.35% AC mitigation vs lvl 73 mobs and 18467 HP.
can't wait to see that pally farming heroic instances. lol

block rating and block value is nice for:
taking crushing out of the table.
block value is calculated after armor. So while it gives a small amount of mitigation, it's equivalent to armor bonuses. why?? because when you hit 102.4% uncrushable stat, everytime you are not dodge/parry/miss you will be blocking.
VS boss fights, block value is not as significant. But with 400 block value, it gives you another 3-5% mitigation. I won't call that bad.
If you have 800 block value in heroic instances, you might want to consider getting less because... you will have a lot of down time drinking. lolz
Faceplate vs. warrior Tier 6 tank helm
1532 armor - 1483 armor (+49 armor)
0str - 23str (-1.15block value, but this is negated by the equip: block value)
0agi - 28agi (again, this is negated by the equip bonuses)
82!sta - 48sta (+340hp)
Meta and Red Socket - Meta and Red Socket (SAME, share +6sta socket bonus)
30defense - 36defense (-6 defense rating, negligible)
38! dodge rating - 0 dodge rating (+38dodge, far superior to 28agi)
29 block rating - 30 block rating (-1 block rating, lolol)
45 block value - 35 block value (+10block value)
Ok you are losing a crap load of strength and agi crit aggro, though you gained 10 block value, which helps for aggro on shield slam unless you are already capped for it. THough as you will see, prot paladins have the same kind of loss for aggro taking this faceplate but more mitigation as you see compared to your warrior tier 6 helm.
Here is the breakdown for tier 6 paladin tanking helm:
Faceplate vs. Prot paladin Tier 6 tank helm
1532 armor - 1483 armor (+49 armor)
0str - 0str (str is useless for tankadins, just want block value instead. str only helps warrior aggro, we take spell dmg instead)
4agi from red gem - 0agi ( 4 agi. The dodge and armor is useful for prot pally)
82!sta - 67sta (+150hp)
Meta and Red Socket - Red socket instead of yellow socket
30defense - 28+4 from gem defense (-2 defense rating)
38! dodge rating - 37(+4 from socket bonus)=41 dodge rating (-3dodge)
29 block rating - 0 block rating (29 block rating increase. prot paladins don't care bout block rating. we are uncrushable permanently with holy shield up with kara gear or higher. 8 charges in 8s.)
45 block value - 0 block value (+45block value)
So for a paladin tank in terms of mitigation, one would gain 150 hp (170 with talents), 29 block rating which is kinda useless since we are way above uncrushable at hyjal level, and 45 block value and 49 armor. The +4 agi with the -3 dodge loss and -2 defense loss breaks even. In terms of mitigation, this faceplate is better for mitigation. However, in terms of aggro stats, while warriors are losing 23 strength and 28 agility for aggro, we are losing 43 spell dmg, probably about equal in terms of aggro stats loss. I would use this tanking a boss, but for aggro intensive fights or aoeing, I'd use Lightbringer helm.
Well Lightbringer is less differential from this faceplate compared the warrior tier 6 helm, which goes to show, Lightbringer tier 6 paladin tank helm is very good, has mad dodge in it,etc.

that helm is awesome i saw it before sort of like the tier 6 warrior helm but it's way better.

Block, dodge, and parry ratings LOW? Are you retarded? My warrior in pre-Kara and one or two Kara pieces has 15% dodge, 16% parry and 25% block. 26%/22%/26% is real good in BT gear. He's only getting hit half the time and he's ALWAYS blocking at LEAST 600 damage a hit if he constantly has Shield Block up(which any self-respecting tank SHOULD).

Since I am not at the level to see this being used, something confuses me. Having this item means having access to epic gems. How is 15 stamina better than 13 stamina & 5 agility?
5 agility is kinda negligible, some fights you take spell dmg so having more hp is kinda better. possibly what I am thinking is this guy's guild bank is out of Shadowsong Amethyst's or he had an extra blue gem lying around and decided to stick it in. The tank is geared to a point where it doesn't matter about 20 hp and 5 agility.
But yes, If i was this guy I would have put a diff gem in.
