Rutgar Glyphshaper at Bronzebeard's Encampment in Silithus wants you to venture to Hive'Ashi, Hive'Zora, and Hive'Regal and recover Glyphed Rubbings from the Glyphed Crystals of each hive.
Use the Geologist's Transcription Kit to make a reasonable facsimile of the ancient glyphs. Return to Rutgar Glyphshaper when you complete this task. |
| Hive'Ashi Rubbing: 0/1 | | Hive'Zora Rubbing: 0/1 | | Hive'Regal Rubbing: 0/1 | | Geologist's Transcription Kit: 0/1 | After our initial foray into the hives and Mistress Mar'alith's subsequent madness the three hives have been spewing out bugs! The increased activity might be tied into the glyphs covering those strange crystals.
We must get a rubbing from crystals in all three hives. If we can get those rubbings, we might be able to make sense of this madness.
Take this transcription set and hit those hives, <name>. Don't come back until you've gotten copies from each hive.
|
If you find some crazy night elf lass in one of the hives, be sure to give her a kick in the duff for us.
|
I can't make heads or tails of these glyphs. I've never seen anything like it! I hope Frankal's research can shed some light on this mess.

South-East most spiral hive. Go in the top cave, go in, take a right. Southmost circular room. Doesn't look like the other two.
thanks for the info, 100% accurate and saved my group a lot of time. =)
There *is* no spiral hive in the south east. Just a hive hive.

can a rogue solo these?
------------------------
Yes, there is no "opening action". All you have to do is click a quest box. Just make sure you have your vanish up, or you'll be doing a corpse run.

Hive'Zora glyphed crystal location:
Take the cave entrance at the most south-eastern corner of the hive. Once you're in the cave, finding the crystal is simple; follow the cave right through to the eastern most end. The crystal is in the center of the round room filled with non-elite wasps. Easily soloed as a rogue, but I have no idea for other classes.
Once you're standing at the crystal, the aggro range on the wasps isn't large enough for them to see you (they are round the outside of the room), so you won't need your vanish cooldown.
Note: All glyphs have no cast timer. As long you click it, you get the item. This means so long as you can solo one elite bug, you can solo the entire quest.
Hive Ashi - Hive entrance at 48,25. Go to the very bottom hive entrance. Turn right. Crystal is in front of you 50,26.
Hive Zora - Hive entrance at 27,66.
Continue down the hive all the way east. This glyph is deep within the hive. The hive terminates in a circular rooms with about 15-20 wasps. The glyph is inside at 36,63
Hive Regal - Enter the Hive at 55,87. Go around the bend and head south. Continue heading south ignoring all forks until you reach the termination of the hive. The glyph is gaurded by 6-7 elites + Natalia at 53,100
thanks, your a life saver. Great directions.

3 Manned her with Prot Warr, Warlock, Shadow Priest.
The trick is that she can be feared. Warrior must interrupt her casting with shield bash/slam, warlock keeps her interrupted with chain fears, shadow priest can fear as well, warr can fear also. Between the 4 different types of fears these 3 classes have, and the DoTs from the lock and the priest, (CoD ftw) you can take her. Yes we ran out of mana, lifetap + bandage while she was feared.
She will Mind Control, fear will break that. She will cast GHeals on herself, 2600 a pop, interrupt those with death coil and shield bash. She has a lot of hit points.
If you keep her feared and interrupted, doable 3 man, still not easy, a long fight. If you can't interrupt her, it's gonna be a long run back from westfall. Working as intended. HA! GG Blizz.
Archon - Uldum
Yes you do get ported to westfall when you die on the glyph in Hive Regal. If the GM says this is as intended, then it is not a bug...it sucks, but I guess you just have to not wipe.
I tried duo-ing this with a 60 war and me (60 priest). We got to the night elf without much trouble, but she kept MCing the war or me and tried twice to kill her, both failed. (At least we didn't get ported to Westfall)
Anyways, came back with a 60 lock and us two, and pwned her fine. The warlock DoTed her and kept her feared. She has about 28k health, and will heal herself when she has about 15% health, so be prepared to stop the heals.
Also, you might want to grab the two quests from Bronzebeard camp before you do this quest. He gives you a rubbings quest that you complete right next to her and a drop quest from any of the hive elites.

This is an easy quest if you're patiant.
Just need to skip mobs either by freezing trap or scatter shot, run in a safe area, feign and jump, wait for FD to cooldown. REPEAT till you get to the area you need to get. You can sacrifice the pet in case the FD resisted (let is take aggro and /mourn the pet, he won't survive, but I guess you'd have time like 10sec before it dies, so try to get full health and health pot, popup deterrance if you have it, AB trinket might help as well... I have 5k HP (unbuffed) after all, so didn't have to pop anything but deterrance).
This is a nice quest, and some nice cash I can say.
Would be interested to know if this quest has been soloed by a druid, if so are there any pointers?
Have all the co-ords and info thanks to the brilliant ppl who have entered their comments so far, just wondering how difficult?
hive ashi and hive zora, no problem at all to stealth in and avoid aggro.
hive regal, unlikely, as posted above it's well guarded, but you may be able to click quickly on the item before you die (as stated, there's no 'opening' even tho it's a gear icon')
i was lucky, in a roundabout way, got ganked just at the entrance of that room, went back to catch my corpse, let the hordies clear the room, and rezzed soon as they ran off before respawns.
gl!
EDIT: you may want to do that part in a group anyway though if you're doing the calling chain, because from what I understand, the maw of maddness http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=8306 quest is also required in the chain and you must kill natalia.
Did this with some guildies, 3 warriors and paladin (me). blew through all the elites, but at hive'regal we bit more than we could chew and ended up almost wiping. I got MC'd and all 3 warriors died. then they all reset with no aggro on me! :) res'd, killed, moved on

You won't spawn in westfall if you die anymore.
I died on Natalia, respawned in Cenarion hold.
Here is a complete walkthrough I just created for my guild detailing the entire quest chain with pictures. Enjoy...
The quest line starts at Cenarion Hold in Silithus:
Talk to Commander Mar'alith and he will give you a quest called “Dearest Natalia”.
Then head south to the Bronzebeard Encampment:
Speak with the 2 dwarves there- Frankal Stonebridge and Rutgar Glyphshaper (also make sure you pet the monkey):
They will tell you a big story about how this lady went crazy, which completes the “Dearest Natalia” quest and unlocks 2 other mini-quests which you must also complete.
The names of these quests are “Breaking the Code” which will be given to you by Frankal and “Glyph Chasing” which will be given to you by Rutgar. *Note: Rutgar also hands you a ‘Geologist's Transcription Kit’ which is needed to complete his quest, so if you accidentally delete it just abandon the quest and talk to him again to get a new one.
Now before you start these quests, return to Commander Mar'alith in Cenarion Hold and turn in the “Dearest Natalia” quest. He will give you a new quest called “Into the Maw of Madness”, which you will complete while doing the other 2.
Basically these quests are going to take you into the 3 hives of Silithus (Hive'Ashi, Hive'Zora and Hive'Regal):
It doesn’t matter which ones you do first, however I recommend a party of 5 to move through it quickly (although you can still do it fairly easy with 2-3 skilled people).
SUMMARY OF "GLYPH CHASING": In the middle of each hive that is a cave that you need to enter and explore until you find the final room. In this room there will be a small white crystal that you use the ‘Geologist's Transcription Kit’ on to obtain the rubbing. This quest is completed once you obtain a rubbing from each Hive.
SUMMARY OF "BREAKING THE CODE": Make sure you check the bodies of each bug you kill on the way to (and from) the final room of each hive. You are looking for a white quest item named “xxx Silithid Brain” (xxx being the name of the hive). It is a random drop so if you haven’t gotten it by the time you finished coming out of the cave then make sure you continue killing bugs until it drops. This quest is completed once you obtain a Silithid Brain from each Hive.
SUMMARY OF "INTO THE MAW OF MADNESS": Inside the final room Hive'Regal you will find a Night Elf priest named Natalia Mar'alithnamed. This quest is completed once you kill her and loot the item from her body. (Don’t forget to obtain the rubbing from the crystal in that room).
Once you complete all 3 quests return to Commander Mar'alith in Cenarion Hold and turn in “Into the Maw of Madness”. Then return to the dwarves in Bronzebeard Encampment and turn in “Breaking the Code” to Frankal and “Glyph Chasing” to Rutgar.
At this point Rutgar will give you another quest named ” Unraveling the Mystery”. This quest is simple, just take the ‘Glyphed Crystal Prism’ that he gives you to Geologist Larksbane in Cenarion Hold:
She will then give you the final quest named “The Calling”!
At this point you will need a group of 25-40 people to kill the Emissary Roman’khan. If your guild is already raiding AQ-40 then it's prolly easiest to just wait until the next raid night and kill him prior to heading inside. Otherwise have fun spamming the LFG channel.
He is summoned at the Bones of Grakkarond:
Once he is dead check his body for loot and then return to Geologist Larksbane in Cenarion Hold. Once you turn in “The Calling” she will give you another quest that you instantly turn in to claim your reward and receive your +25 NR legs!

i just did this quest in like 5 minutes....if u are a rogue or u have rogue in party.....just stealth up to nat then sap her (imp. sap most likely) then grab the glyph, if u're right next to it, you WILL NOT aggro the entire room
for all rogues and druids hive'zora is easy just stand as close as u can to the crystal and the wasps will not attack u
(Taruen Druid) I combined luck with my mad skeelz to solo the Ashi Glyph w/o dying.
Ashi Glyph room is through east tunnel closest to Cenarion Hold (at the bottom of the spiral entrance). Stealth into room. Three mobs there. Shift-out, grab glyph (entails right-clicking glyph and selecting the action in quest box), back to cat (with luck you avoid too many stuns), dash out, if need be shift-out and warstomp the five mobs that are now on you, back to bear charge 6th mob, bash it. By now you can reach the top of the spiral and go cheetah. WooHoo!
BTW if you die after you grab the glyph no big deal. Easy enough to rez and stealth out.

Not sure why people are sneaking and whatnot. This was a piece of cake as a 60 mage. Just killed my way in and out, CC'd the workers if they aggro, didn't even need to burn cold snap.
With my hunter I tried to solo the last part with the Druid NELF, every time the same happended.
I cleared the place, pulled her and set my pet on her... she mind-controls me and she runs back to where she was with full health, and I can start over again.
I didn't try to actually just click the Glyph and ignore her, maybe that would have worked!!!
As a 61 warlock it was pretty straightforward to solo grind my way to Natalia. The main problem was figuring out which tunnel system she was in since that hive has 3 and I couldn't seem to find the right entrance. (It's the tunnel entrance in the far south of the hive.)
I cleared the room with Natalia by single-pulling bugs into the adjoining hallway. Then I opened on Natalia with Fear and loaded her with DOTs.
As the fight progressed it was clear I would be able to finish her off before I ran out of mana or health. She was perhaps down to 50% when a bug repopped. This was the neutral bug that stands near Natalia. It had been the last bug in the room to die and I had killed it less than 30 seconds before attacking Natalia. The bug aggroed immediately upon respawning. Game over.
fyi the rubbing is instant, it doesnt take 5 secs or w/e the time is to get it, so u can suicide run grab them, i wouldnt recommend it, i would recommend getting a group because the xp is nice, but if ur alone and u cant get anyone to help u, that is one way to clear this out of ur quest log
look on big map there are spikes showing on it in the hive area. there is a cluster of 4.
You need the bottom right one.
On the mini map it looks like a brown circle.
Go down the ramp to the bottom. There are 2 entrances here. Take the one furthest from the ramp. Go right at the Y. the crystal is obvious a big white spike in the middle of the room. just click to get the rubbing. No need to search bags for item to use.
hope this helps
geode druid stormscale
On the large map look at the little spikes - there are 3 at the bottom right of the map in hive zora. You need the top one of these three.
This entrance way looks like a letter U on the mini map.
Enter (heading south) and follow tunnel ignoring any round rooms you see on the way (2).
Go straight through the X room to the spiral room beyond.
Crystal is in the middle.
geode druid stormscale
Look at hive regal on the large map.
There is a cluster of seven spikes at the bottom.
You need the top left small one as the entrance.
You should be facing west to enter this entrance.
Enter the tunnel and again ignoring any round rooms you see follow the tunnel to the X room.
Go straight through to the spiral room beyond. Crystal is in the middle.
Lookout for stealth bugs on the way.
natalia is also at this crystal lvl 62 elite

Hunter 59 what I did to solo:
Hive Zora- No real problem soloing the bugs, just realize you should kill off the tunnel borers so they don't aggro when you are on another bug, but you can freeze trap anyway so still ok for two bugs.
This is not the case with the ranged "easy" spiderlike bugs. If you get two of those they are tough to freeze trap so be careful if there are two near each other to pick off one when the other is turned around and not "looking".
The wasps in the final room are tough because there are so many, so ... what I did is to send in the pet with a heal going onto the nearest wasp, do not shoot until he is on the bug, then kill off one and then use f to find the next bug he is working on. If you can kill another.
If you feign death the wasps usually resist and attack you anyway, so best not to heal your pet again at all during the fight, just let the pet die, then revive him, heal him, feed him and start over on another wasp till you get the wasps cleared that are in your way to the crystal. Rub the crystal and then hearth out.
Just to add a note, there is a 57 elite rare, Rex Ashi in the area of the entrance to the glyph at Hive Ashi. Soloed the entire quest with a 62 Hunter
Hive'Zora has at least 3 entrances. Make sure you take the one that is in the SE. The tunnel with the crystal is not connected to the other part of the hive. Also the wasps in the room with the crystal are no longer elite. Still a ton of them tho.
These bugs are not elite anymore, so the quests are soloable by all. The only difficulty is the Hive Zora one, as it is guarded by three packs of 3 wasps. I managed to loot the stone without aggroing at level 61.
Natalia at Hive Regal is no longer elite, just a lvl 62 priestess. Be sure to kill all of the bugs surrounding her before engaging her as she will fear you into them. She was a pesky fight for a Pally with her fears and stuns, but soloable once she ran out of mana.
Ok, I just did this quest today... and when I was looking for the last rubbing crystal in Regal, I came across two bugs in the cave going at it. Literally I had to stop and wait and watch to see what the heck they were doing! Can you believe it?! These bugs are mating!
Here's the link to the photo: http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/HeartShineGirl/?action=view¤t=bugsexinwow.jpg
I couldn't believe it hahahaahaha
I had to take a photo. I had wished I had fraps to make a video but I don't. I thought no one would believe me!
In any case.. the female one on the bottom has the same name as the top one but she looked different. Kinda ugly looking.. like a naked one without the shell on it.
But,.. this only started to happen after I got the rubbing done... after that the joke with the rubbing was on me!
Ewww.. Wow bugs having sex! Pfft! Yuckies!
LOL
get the into the maw of madness quest also, natalia is in this room, she is no longer an elite and easy to solo, just make sure ya clear the room first so when she fears ya your not running into other mobs, proly need to be at least a 60 to solo.
