The easiest and most effective way to help Thottbot is to play the game with the Thottbot data collector, then upload the results.  This is done quickly and easily with the Cosmos Patcher.

The Cosmos Patcher was written entirely by Thott and is guaranteed safe.

Step 1

Download Cosmos.exe and run it.  Optionally place it in your WoW folder first, if not it will put itself there later.  It's helpful that way.

Step 2

Run Cosmos.exe.  The first time you run it it will present you with this simple configuration dialog:

You probably do not want to turn on "Keep Interface Directory Clean", as it will delete any addons you install manually, so leave that alone for now.

For many people, Cosmos Release is a good choice, but if you aren't sure you want to play with Cosmos right now, and just want to contribute to Thottbot, select Thottbot Only:

Step 3

Run Cosmos.exe as often as you can remember to do so, then just play the game normally.  That's it!  I run it every time I run WoW with the "Auto Run WoW" checkbox enabled, so I'm always running the latest version and data gets uploaded as often as possible, but there's no requirement to run Cosmos.exe before WoW.exe to make it work.

If you've got the Thottbot addon installed properly by the patcher, and it's working for you in game, you'll see something like this when you log in:

If you don't see that banner, try patching again and check your addon settings, because it's not working!

The first time you have data to upload it will prompt you for a Thottbot username and password.  It's optional; you can upload anonymously, but if you input a username and password you'll get credit for things you upload on the site.  You can also specify a link for your username, a guild name and a link for your guild name on the Account Settings page, and all will be displayed on anything you contribute.
