Battlegrounds

For those PvP lovers, a new instanced battleground is introduced in Wrath of the Lich King. Strand of the Ancients is a whole new twist on PvP. With siege vehicles and a newly introduced defend / attack based gameplay this is an all out war! One team starts on defense and the other on offense. The offense team will start on boats and will have to fight and push their way through the defending team in order to capture objectives. Seige vehicles will be available to the offense team and this is planned to be 10v10 or 15v15. Have fun!


Arenas

With Wrath of the Lich King, 2 new arenas are introduced. Dalaran Arena, and The Ring of Valor located in Orgimmar. There are changes in arena design such as moving platforms and changes to the way players enter arena to prevent players from hiding indefinitely in their spawn areas.

The Ring of Valor will have 2 constantly moving platforms with 2 tracks of spikes that shoot up from the ground. Watch your step!

The Dalaran Arena will use line of sight massively. Resembling the sewers of the Dalaran city, there will be water pipes and several blocks and platforms to hide around. Similar to Nagrand Arena get ready to be strategic!


Outdoor PvP: Lake Wintergrasp

In addition to new arenas and battlegrounds, Blizzard introduces the first ever outdoor zone dedicated soley to PvP. The entire zone is PvP, so enter carefully! There are serveral objectives to complete in order to be victorious. Some features of the zone include:

• Destructibe Environment - Destroy buildings, bridges, walls and other objects to give your team the advantage.


• Siege Weapons - Hop on a vehicle and wreck havok! Siege engines, catapults, flying machines and goblin shredders are all available to players to destroy the environment or the enemy player.


• Air Combat - Hop on a flying machine and Bombs Away! Drop bombs and perhaps shoot your enemys out of the sky as well!

In order to get the arena quality PvP gear, players must compete in arena matches. There will still be honor gear from battlegrounds and tokens from Lake Wintergrasp PvP, but it will not be "gladiator" quality gear. Happy PvPing!
