This sucks for locks. 14 stamina is teh weaksauce.

Stam is pretty meaningless in PvE most of the time. This includes for locks.

If you want PvP gear, get the PvP hat, simple as that. This thing is very, very, nice for PvE, though I would prefer one without item budget wasted on crit.

Even if this is good for PvE, engineering has always been my ace in the hole for PvP...and besides, I like stamina. I just wish Blizz would have made a pair of goggles with a hefty amount of stamina on it.

Bet majority of eng casters already have spellstrike set. Is it really worth it replacing SSH for these, when there is no real spell damage metagem?

Mystical Skyfire Diamond increases you DPS by 2.5% at average. And that is worth quite a lot. The only drawback of it is that it requires more blue gems than yellow ones and casters get like mass yellow sockets on their sets. Now that's a really good job, Blizzard.

  New version is better, but I believe it's still not good enough to beat spellstrike hood. Well, at least not for most locks and shadow priests, destrolocks and mages might be tempted.

    and count the Spellstrike proc that gives 93 damage for 10 seconds. In a raiding situation, that procs almost 2-3 times a minute.

i think i'll take this with 2x2 pieces of gladiator
yeah, stamina is less, no resilience, but more crit and more dmg offsets it.
and the stealth detect is just invaluable

People get Spellstrike over Battlecast for PvE raiding, because of the spell hit. Bonus tip: You need 202 spell hit to negate resists against a level 73 mob. No, that's not a typo. If you waltz into Kara with 50ish, you're practicaly wasting a raid slot. Until the 2.1 patch comes out with the new gems, raiders will be scrounging *everywhere* for that stat.

  Or taking Kara way too seriously.. its nowhere near that vital

i used to use a ton of +hit because of the 73 mobs/bosses in kara, but guess what... with 58 hit rating my resist rate for an entire clear is 5% +/- .3%
im still first for damage every week for the run as a whole(and pretty much every fight and pull..)
destruction warlock... so no suppression cheating... just 58 hit rating...

the only fight that has anything significantly higher than a 5% resist rate for me is Aran... because... well duh...

I'm poor. I don't have the money to buy mats for spellstrike, and I already have the mats for this baby on hand.
Too bad it sucks for my spec.

You get trained @ every grand master engy.

I think it's a great that Engineers got a great piece of gear.

Still not as attractive as the things Tailoring offers but still, it's a great plus for any caster engineers.

I've farmed up all the mats was all prepared. come back to check to see if anyone has put up a picture of it... and now it requires a Primal Nether..... $#@%^%$&%$

Well... at least the mat cost is closer in line with how good it is... but still..... *cry*

why the hell does blizzard ruin perfectly good caster items by junking all the item points with a bunch of pointless spellcrit?

You obviously haven't played a mage enough. Spell Crit can be hard to find in substantial quantities, and is generally replaced with spell hit.
