There are serpents in Wailing Caverns ... can't think of any others.

The serpent pets are found in 3 places in the game so far. These places are Wailing Caverns, Zul'Farak, and Zul'Gurub. In the wailing caverns, a full run guarantees you to run into one. If you don't want to do a full run, after you run into the first big room, jump down into the river and head north through the tunnel. You should encounter a few. The minimum level of these are level 19. The snakes in Zul'Farak are mid 40 level, and they appear by the last boss (discluding the hydra). I don't remember his name, but the one who drops embrace of the lycan. Finally, there are snakes in Zul'Gurub that are hard to tame but not impossible. You might want to grab one of these because they are the only source of Poison Shot Rank 3.

i saw a hunter at sentinel hill with a lvl 17 or 18 blue serpent... was wondering where he tamed it. if anyone knows please post, would really appreaciate it.
dont get me wrong im not hating on serpents, but they really can be a pain especially in pvp. most good hunters know to set and ice trap if they wanna get away from a situation in pvp, but the dot spit breaks this and can be a real pain. i suggest putting the spit on manual (right-click) instead of automatic. I think that boars may be a better choice tho. Serpents are cool and are nice in solo/ raid situations bcuz of the dot but not so much pvp.
ok, heres how i did it solo with my lvl 23 NE hunter, enter the wailing caverns instance WITH OUT a pet, tame the 1st raptor as you get in, start clearing all of the raptors and ectos as you go down the path, once you reach the bones, you'll see 2 raptors standinng there, give it a little while and a druid and another raptor will walk by, pull the raptors back to the bones one by one, if you pull both don't worry, after they are dead, go down the slope to the LEFT, whipe the crocs up to the big room, clear the middle, now abandon your pet, wait for the snake to start walking down the slope, set a freezing trap, if you are too low level, which you shouldn't be since the snakes are 20-24ish, dont worry as the snake will not do enough damage to you to kill you, once you tame him you can leave. If you are not confidant enough to solo this, ask a higher level to help or ask the group to let you tame one. my snake is a very good anti caster, I dueled a 26 lock who tried to fear either my snake or me, but he died before he could get it off.

I went in there "Zul Gurub", was having no success then I read this guys directions, was very great and worth it... Only took 2 times more... after already trying 8-10 times.. This pet rocks.

So far, if you put your snake's poison spit ability on *autocast,* the snake is going to stand 30 yd away from the target and poison spit it until it is out of focus. This explains any problems you may have with multiple poison spits and slowness. I don't think this is really intended, and I'm sure it's going to be changed in the future to make the serpent only poison spit a target that already doesn't have the poison on them. However, for now, just take poison spit off autocast and manually cast it during battles. It's nothing hard to do, and it stops him from spending all of his focus for nothing and not being able to growl.
I've killed w/ my serpent prolly 50 Dragonspawns in the Burning Steppes & 100 or so undead in EPL & he is still on "Loyalty Level 1" Rebellious. I keep his happy level at green all the time. At this level I have -25 training points on him. I thought the general rule when it came to pets you tame at level 60 is just kill stuff that they would normally get XP for & through that they increase loyalty, which in turn grants us training points?
I know it's been a awhile since I've tamed a new pet... so I am prolly forgetting something crucial. If so pls let know ;) 15 mins after the above question... Ahhhh... if u put growl in front of the poison spit ability the snake will go up growl and then spit then u can just snipe from afar.

okay ima lvl 46 hunter, i realy want on of those serpents from zf. every time i try to tame 1 it dosint work. ive treid 6 runs to get 1. i dk what to do anda any help on how to taame 1 would be great. he always breaks the taming process

I tried moving the location of poison spit so that my serpent would growl first then spit, but it didn't work. Taking it off autocast does work, but it's that little bit of extra work I don't want to do in combat. I think I'm gonna ditch my snake.

i went into wc on my own (lvl 22 be hunter), i didn't bring a pet, so i tamed the raptor in the cave and abandoned him when i got to a viper. i did this on my own and ive player a hunter only a little bit b4 that and had mediocre gear, so if i can do it, anyone should be able to. altho don't get beast lore till lvl 24, gotta go find a pet to get bite so i can train it to the viper

Shut up, you're annoying. Serpents are very good pets when you're BM spec, and with Beastial Wrath active, he crits almost every other attack. While he doesn't out-DPS Cats, Ravager, ans such, he's actually a great tank. He keeps great aggro, and I can solo most elite enemies that I had a load of difficulty with when I was Marksmanship. I highly recommend him as a main Beast Mastery pet. Good luck with taming. I also have a 70 Marksmanship Draenei HUnter on Detheroc, so if anyone needs a run through Zul'Farrak or Sunken Temple for their very own serpent, just whisper me when I'm logged on. Easy. Get a casual group for Wailing Caverns, go to The Barrens, where Wailing Caverns is located, go in the instance, and tame the first serpent you see. There aren't any catches on getting a serpent on a PvP server.
I tamed one at 63. Found 2 pats on the left in front of wall, you may have to wait for them. Don't aggro trolls. I put scare beast on one, then immediately lay a frost trap once beast flees. Use healing pot then Heart of Noxxion (for poison) and then tame. The scared beast returned at the last second without bringing aggro and got 1 hit in before tame was complete (lucky no poison spit). Kinda tricky, but I've done it twice with no aggros (lucky) first for the blue snake then second for the gold snake.

I saw another hunter that had one and i asked him how he liked it. He said it was his favorite pet and reccomended i should get one so i ran over to Sunken Temple with a pet i never used then just killed the couple guys at the beggining till i got to snakees got rid of my pet and layed a trap concussive shot and boom he got one hit off on me. I have only had this pet for a day now but it seems like every other hit is a crit and the poison spit is nice he shoots em with that while hes runnin at em. I would reccomend this to everyone they still have good tank abilities and especially dps abilties.
