The chest is from the last boss in Botanica (Tempest Keep), and i've always found the Botanica to be a long instance. Its going to be a pain to get. Easy boss though.
The gloves are from the last boss in The Shattered Halls, and this is especially going to be a pain. Takes a bit of clearing and is probably one of the tougher 5 mans. Someone also needs a key to get in.
The helm is from the last boss in Mech (Tempest Keep). Easy instance. Easy boss.
The pants and shoulders are from the last boss in Coilfang - Steam Vaults. Easy boss but with a seemingly large loot table. He drops two items at a time but I still haven't seen the shoulders.

To maximize a hunters dps, especially in long boss fights, mana is critical. This set has 18 per 5 stock, plus your gem slots. 94int and 210atkpwr, this set is designed for long distance strong, if crit lacking(4%), sustained dps. You shouldn't have to drink after every pull, and should be able to go flat out in bossfights. Thats the whole idea of fd, hunters can go all out constantly as long as we have sufficent mana. With a well balance set a hunter can now look at 1600-1800atkpwr, withouttrinkets pre kara, and 17-25%crit depending on spec. With mana regen to boot = maximum dps. However without mana regen, all that atkpwr and crit is worthless when you run out of mana with 25% left on the boss. Then its either sit and drink or autoshot ftl, especially at the end of the fight when everyone is beginning to get stretched out. High atkpwr(1600+) and decent crit(18+) and mana regen, = gg.
I am a little unimpressed by the 4-set bonus. 600 armor ignored isn't a whole lot. And this only applies to the hunter, right? the rest of the group do not ignore the armor?

600 armour can mean a lot, when you are using it with 5 sunders from a warrior, or some other armour debuff. If you look at the mechanics of armour (wowwiki.com), when a target doesn't have much armour (due to sunders), any additional debuff will remove a larger percentage of dmg prevention. A good analogy is putting this debuff on a clothie, with about 1k armour. That wipes nearly half their dmg prevention out, meaning about 5 percent more dmg. A boss with 5 sunders would have a quite low armor too, so 600 is a big debuff in that use. This is a dungeon set, for use in dungeons and dungeon bosses.

Thus far as of the time when I posted this I appreciate this thread for not starting a flame fest, but this could be because there are no other classes who can properly utilize this set, with a 2 set bonus like -4 to trap recast time this is very clearly hunter only. I'm currently 2/5 Shoulders and Legs (revered with CE now...) which both drop in steamvaults, which is a very very easy instance... The set bonus I'm in love with I have points into trap duration and I can trap a mob and drop another trap before it breaks... I spend so much time playing crowd control in th 5 mans that this has become such a valuable asset that I'm actually losing out on DMG not for lack of effort but I have pieces which can grant more AP as well as more crit, but for the time I like the comfort granted to me from the set bonus. I like this set a lot and feel that with some enchants and armor kits and some glyphs that you could easily hit 1900ish AP I'm currently 1858ish self buffed, with just 2 pieces on. the 4 set bonus is somewhat weak, but might not be to bad against a mob who has 5 sunders on him. I think sunder is 590 armor reduction at 70 so this is ever so slightly better than a single sunder armor.
The Beast Lord set is obviously for a Hunter, with that said, we can move on.
Yes, the two-piece set was well deserved and called for, I can't tell you how many times I would go through some Coilfang instance and have my Ice Trap break at an inconvinient time and start stressing the Healer and Tank for another mob to join the pile.
At level 70 I went Survival. With that I get improved duration and cooldown on all traps, now Ice Trap can last upward of 22 seconds and have a cooldown of only 20 seconds. Thanks to Talents and this set bonus.
I was in Shattered Halls the other day, and we had an affectionate Rawr-Tank (Druid in bear form) and he said to me halfway through, "How do you do it? I was somplace with another hunter and they couldn't trap for beans. Excellent job, I'm really loving it."
Its just me, but who likes getting positive reinforcement? even if your one of the other talent-specs its okay, the set bonus is STILL worth it (the two-piece that is).
But people (usually the ones who don't understand Hunter-farming) say, whats up with that 4-piece bonus? Well, as any of the three talent specs it doesn't matter at level 70, you'll have anywhere from 15%-30% chance to crit on white damage. and you'll be using Kill Command a lot, in fact, the only thing that holds me back from Kill Comand is the 5 second cooldown. What with pets not being up to speed with thier Hunter masters is slightly obscured with this new bonus, it literally brings up the damage they deal. And I know, with those of you who have your talents in Beast Mastery look and say, "Jee," its worth it.
I love all the Hunter brothers and sisters out there may we live long and farm up anything we please.

I really like the 2 piece bonus on both sets, and thats what I'm currently aiming for. I'm specced full marks with just enough in survival to make my traps 30% longer lasting. 4 seconds off the cooldown makes the traps just that much better. I hate being stuck on cooldown and having my trap break. With the increased trap duration, if they were going to break before the cooldown was up, it was always in the last 4 seconds, so I should be golden with that set bonus.
I picked up the desolation pants first, and loved them... then I got the beast lord shoulders... loved them too. I have been running shattered halls like crazy to get some new gloves. Lucked out and had the desolation gloves drop today. The 35 hit rating is WONDERFUL.
yeah, I would have taken beast lord if they dropped... but bearing in mind the pieces I have, and that I want the 2 piece bonus from both... I would have been farming heroic instances for my second piece of desolation.
I think I'm going to be spending my time outside of kara farming for the beast lord chest now.

Attack Power, Attack Power, and maybe a little more Attack Power. Crit will come naturally as you gear.
By the way, if you lay your ice traps in advance to pulls. Your traps will be more effective. Cooldowns will run through while you wait for the pull, when the targets frozen, lay another between you and the frozen mob.

I have the gloves and pants of the Desolation set and Chest and Shoulders of the Beast Lord set, so get I get the two two-piece set bonuses, and nice stats all round.

I'm a full MM spec with the mandatory 3 in survival for extended range. As far as CC goes its pretty easy; Lay your trap, trap your mob, when the mob comes at you looking pissed hit him with a scatter shot and take a step back, by the time he's back to his senses the CD on traps is up and you can freeze him again. Not as efficient as being survival spec with 20 second CD, but man...wouldn't you just die of shame if you were a Survival hunter?
The hunter's D3 Beast Lord set offers a 15 second Exploited Weakness spell, trigered by the use of the Kill Command ability...
The set items state "...your attacks ignore 600 of your victim's armor..."
Question: since the kill command is a damage buff to the pet's own attacks, does this mean that Exploited Weakness only applys to the victim when the pet is attacking, or can the Kill Command be used while the pet is passive (meaning that there would be no damage given by the pet, & therefore no boost to damage from Kill Command, but Exploited Weakness would still benifit the ranged attack)...
Also, armor set bonus states "...YOUR attacks...". Does this mean pet, meele, ranged, & spell damage are all given Exploited Weakness, or only the pet?
As a marks/traps spec hunter, my pet does not hold the armor, damage, or stamana bonuses from beast mastery talents to be utilized in heroic instances or post-game raids... I would like to know if marksman or survival spec hunters can still benifit from Exploited Weakness, whether pet is in combat or not. Been having difficulty finding specifics on how Exploited Weakness is applied with this set, please teach.
It gives you (the hunter) a buff that ignores 600 of your opponents armour. So it applies to your target even if your pet is targetting something else but doesn't provide any bonus for anyone else.
this set is for all specced hunters, just the set bonus helps u more if u go about 7 points in BM and i think 10 or so points in survival, but it helps MM hunters with all that int, so there

This Set is prime for a BM hunter, but I would definately use different shoulders (Desolation/Towering Mantles) as it doesnt effect the 4 piece bonus for the sake of lack of stam. I had the chest drop last night but the Shaman also rolled need, he had had 2/5 Beast Lord and I had 4/5..said I already got the set bonus but wanted to get rid of the shoulders for the lack of stam. : / Told him he should be working on desolation and left.
got the shoulders and leggings as a single drop (whoot) got the gloves on the first run so i got lucky there, i really aint after the helm my Surestrike Goggles v2.0 are a bit better i think, but hit a hard patch of bad luck on the chest amour. been trying to get the amour of warpsplinter for ages and have yet to see it drop went from no rep with shay'tar to revered just running botanica to get em, halfway to exalted and still no love after 19 runs just for there, least i got a friend that is trying for the warriors helm and he aint seen em either so when we both are on we are running botanica, i guess the drop rate sucks for em both. though i have noticed a pattern on the drops in there, though i ain't certain if there is one but i thought i would ask if anyone else has noticed that.
So what would be better for preparing for arena this set or the grand marshals pursuit set?
The most pain in the ass for me was to obtain the leggings and chest. Got the leggings now after running SV around 12 times (maybe even more). Did botanica only 4 times but didn't drop the chest piece. Great set especially if you are BM hunter. Stuff the sockets with +agi. And I mean even the blue sokcets, put agi gems in it. Some of the bonusses are not worth putting a blue gem in it. (Like the bonus of +3 hit rating)
The leggings are really bad.
Scaled Greaves of Patience are oodles better (almost the same stats WITHOUT the sockets, and they have three.
Does the Ignore Armor buff stack with Expose Weakness?
You know there are blue gems that give +agil with hit rating which might come in handy if your doing kara. or even add some health like +agil and +stam.
i was unable 2 find any thing on it but can the beastlord b tiered up? i hav 2 pcs of the set but i want 2 kno if its worth getting all 5.

All I have to say about Beast Lord set: IT KICKS T4'S ASS. The stat differences are minimal. But the set bonuses on Beast Lord are far superior. I refuse to wear T4, I don't care what people's first reaction is to seeing me in blues. They will and do soon realize I'm way up there on DPS charts. I won't replace this until I start getting the T5-equivalent badge items.
The D3 beastlord-set isnt just for hunters, sure it has hunter set bonuses ... im usually holy but i dont think twice over needing this over a hunter. a holy paladin who rolls need on hunter gear for the occasional ret respec. wut. a hunter would be wearing the gear full time, while you'd wear it for maybe a few minutes... and you're prolly stopping some poor sap from getting his 4 piece bonus? and you don't think twice about doing it? sounds like you don't even think at all, much less think twice.
still <3 this set,
i still replace my epics with two pieces of this set + aspect of the monkey when i need to trap like crazy. Every hunter should get two pieces of this set, i just wish the t4 bonuses would be as sweet as this set.
The Beast Lord Armor is awesome. I have all the pieces to this set. It took me about 2 and a half weeks to collect the entire set. With gems of +10 agi and purples of +5 agi and +7 stam. This set is hard to beat. I also have Dory's Embrace and Angelista's Revenge ring and I ignore 838 armor currently (after Kill Command). I have Belt of the Black Eagle also with epic gems. If I would get the Sunfury bow of the phoenix to drop, I will be almost be spot on my goal of 700 agi unbuffed. T4 might give me more intellect versus the Beast Lord Armor, but at the expense of agility. Agility is everything to a hunter. AP, dodge, crit, etc. My health unbuffed is close to 9400 and mana of 7000. My ranged AP is over 2000 with my trinkets. I will continue to use my Beast Lord Armor until the expansion or T5. The whole reason I got the set besides its looks, is ignoring 600 armor. I have found other items to increase that! At 15 secs of exploited weakness from the kill command, as often as I critical, I'm always in the sweet spot so to speak. Hardly ever am I out DPS'd unless they have crazy good gear. In short, Beast Lord Armor is worth the time and energy to complete the set especially if your a BM. Happy Hunting

Personally i keep Aspect of the Viper up at all times and spam steady shot/auto shot for fast kills so this macro worked great for me. i originally created a more crude and found a site that has all sorts of macro (arenajunkies.com) Should help you get some extra carnage... i use one for every shot i have.
