And then the mages have ppl begging for water / food while those same ppl are selling their tomes. Guess why some of us are so rude saying no.

The people that would charge more then 50g for this are all the same idiots that get mad when a mage charges them to make water for them...

u expect the mage to make u water wheneveru want for free yet u get this tome and try and charge upwards of 200g to mages that need it. logic clearly escapes most people when a profit seems possible.

I'm an enchanter as well as mage.  When crusader was still big, I had no problem getting a very large tip from people when I preformed it for them even when they had the mats.  Why should I get a 7g tip for clicking a button?  I paid 250g for the enchant itself and around 100 for the rod to use the enchant.  Thus, I get money for clicking a button; I had earned it.  If people are charging 200+ gold for a simple water spell and I buy it, I have earned yet another right to gain a tip for clicking a button.

According to Blizzard, the job of the mage is threefold:
1) dps
2) crowd control
3) party support (portals/food/water)

If such a large part of our job is water/food, then why is this a world drop? Mages are not the high DPS class BECAUSE we have the other jobs to perform.

How many other classes have to find their end game abilities via a world drop with a LOW drop rate? Food is the same way. Come on Blizzard- what are you thinking?


And yes: If you charge me an outrageous fee so I can learn this spell (or Conjure Food VIII), then you shouldn't expect me to give you the water/food for free.

    For you people complaining about mages charging for water/food/portals, consider this...
    Do you ask a rogue to pick a lock for free?  Do you expect an enchanter, blacksmith, leatherworker, etc. to make things for you for free if you supply the mats?
    Most of you don't.  You give that person a tip.  And those of you that don't tip should be on every ignore list in the game.
    Personally, I make free food/water/portals for any guildy or friend.  I frequently teleport to where a friend is just to make portals to get them somewhere else (And for those that don't know it, teleporting and portals require reagents that a mage has to BUY).  But after the Sunday morning that I had 6 complete strangers wsp me in 3 minutes for free stuff, I started charging simply because at that point, I was just a vending machine and couldn't even play the game.
    So for all of you complaining about mages charging for their services, tell you what...  Go farm or buy these items and GIVE them to a mage (And if that mage is a complete stranger, you just made their day).  That mage shouldn't charge you for that item.  But, if you're planning on sticking it in the AH for some unreasonable amount of money, don't complain when a complete stranger expects you to pay them instead of giving you something for free.
    Just a thought...

You say "Would you mind making me some water please?" you get a stack for free. You open a trade window and say "Water plz" you can go piss up a rope.

I remember a mage friend in my guild got 2 of these at AH for for me and him. When we were in shadow labs and a lock asked us for water we said "Thats 20s each stack plz." He said "WTF y are you charging something that you can make?" We replied "Dont blame us, blame the fker that made the tome 100g each...wait that was you..."

I picked this up on a greed roll in Mechanar from the last boss if I recall correctly, don't think it was a trash mob.  On Misha, my auctioneer has seen it 8x at AH and suggested buyout at 171g.  Of course my initial reaction was cha-ching cuz I hadn't thought it through...

The only time I ask mages for water is if I'm questing or instancing with them, and I always bring 60 of my own purified draneic water - I just try not to ask.

I'm going to check with the 70 mage in my guild, and if he doesn't need it, will pass it over to my 64 mage guildie so he has it right when he turns 70.

Just bought this off a Rogue for 42g thru trade channel on Silvermoon(Horde). I am only 65 so in the bank it sits for now. cant wait to eat it.

I NEVER ask for money for water. I need the other players to be happy with me so i get to stick around and do my thing. If your a jerk, people wont like you.

Ports i whip up for free too. whats the big deal? the hardest part is explaining to people that they cant use it since my group is full. Rune of Portals cost 18s. Kill one mob anywhere in outlands and you get one. DONT BE SO CHEAP!

my mage makes the water and the food for my group. i also turn enemies into harmless pigs till the others are ready to fight, and when they are I DEAL MORE DAMAGE THAN ANYONE. At the end i zip people all around the world.

What a laugh! The other day, I had a really bad day, and was in the mood for roasting all that moved. So, at the end of this day, just to make it perfect, I went to Manatombs...
Our priest asked for water, in a less pollite way - "Mage, water plz!" Well. *sigh* I had seen worse that day, so I just made her 2 stacks of water. - But she actually had the nerve to ask me to make her 12 stacks in total. - I asked her, what the hell she would do with 12 stacks..? And a little hesitating, she answered, "well, tonight I am going to do an instance with some friends. And I just want to make sure everyone's got water. - 2 stacks for each, and 2 for me at this run. That's 12...". I told her that was madness. No way I would spend half an hour on that! - Unless she paid me 20s a stack. - Response?
- "20 SILVER PER STACK??? You're out of your mind... - You're a real bitch!"
So I made her an other offer:
"We can't all be as lucky as you, Mother Theresa. But then let your friends come to me everytime they run out, and I shall make them another stack of water, for the price of their buffs."
From that moment she stopped healing me... Hmm... Very adult behavior, huh?
Of course she was then kicked from the team, and we finished the instance with another healer.

Later in the evening, I got an invite for Manatombs again. Turns out, that it was her with her friends... And guess who knew the other 3 in the party VERY well? (2 of them in real-life). - And guess who was suddenly in a really bad mood? Hahaah! Holy Priestess my arse!

ALL THIS TROUBLE! - Just because she expected me to dedicate half an hour for making HER some items, so SHE would deliver it to HER friends, and SHE would get credit for free water and all...

I have read most of the comments and I gotta agree with alot of the people here. 

Being a mage, people just don't realise that NOT all mages come equiped with a refreshment table. 

It first needs to be obtained by luck with farming or in most cases bought from the auction house with sky high prices.

The prices on my server were 200+ for each book.  I thought that was absolutly ludacris so I decided to try farm it.  Neither book ever dropped for me.

Each group I got with there was ALWAYS people demanding a table.  When I explained to them I can't make the table they act like i've just made their day that much harder. 

This one guy even had the nerve to *sigh at me and request a different mage.  There was nothing wrong with my gear or ability to perform...just because I could'nt make a table it sounds insane but it's reality.

Today I have just bought the book to learn how to conjure food and I had to pay 100 gold. (Cheapest price I saw)  I believe ill have to pay a similar price for the water...but for now what bugs me alot is that
not one single person is ever going to know that I spent almost 200 of my farmed gold to make it possible for them to have FREE fuken food and water.

I never get tipped for my service, and 70% of the time people don't give a royal shit to politly ask for one. 

Anyways I do hope blizzard changes this because at the moment I think this is rediculous.
