The slave pens don't "require" anything, it's hard without crowd control but pulling groups back and using fears of your own is sufficient.  I have yet to go in there with either a mage or a rogue and only had a warlock present once.  Went through just fine with a warrior, priest, druid and 2 shamen once with me (the priest) doing almost all of the healing.
