Hi,
I happen to be the proud owner of this superb sword and would like to say it procs quite often. More often than I expected by nearly double.
The proc is basically like a spell "Haste" and reduces your casting time. The proc is fairly short, but extremely handy when it does happen.
The extra spell damage is great, and the visual is nothing short of a light-saber.

it makes my bane'd shadowbolts 1.92 sec cast. 1.5x with bloodlust up, which is ridiculous, as it is an effective permanent nightfall.
edit: there also seems to be some sort of cooldown on the proc, a la new retaliation. it seems to be somewhere 10-20 second window where it wont proc more than once.
Found this weapon on my warlock in shattered halls, dropped off some random trash mob. Here's how it works:
Speeds casting up by about 22-23%%, 2.5 shadowbolts are 1.9. However, it's more of a proc cooldown, as in u will never get back to back, but if u haven't been fighting for a bit (between pulls), it will almost always proc off the FIRST or SECOND cast. That means a casted dot (not off the dot ticks, just the initial cast of the dot), or a spell, such as immolate or shadowbolt. This can actually be a nice thing, because it is garunteed to proc once a fight at least, and you can also predict when it's going to proc (its about a 20 second cooldown). That means you can begin life tapping or evocating or whatever, and you will often have it proc off the first cast.
the sword itself looks like argent avenger with demonslayer on it. Very good weapon, and if you're debating whether to use if the proc is good enough, it is indeed a very nice proc rate.
i wanna get this sword..is it good for mages or better for locks? i know i am low for it (lvl 64 BE mage) but its what i want to get..so is it better for locks?or is it the same for mages and locks? i have the Spellfire but ya

It procs on cast -- as soon as a spell finishes casting, the haste aura applies to the next spell you cast. If there's 0.1 second left on the aura and you start casting, you get the full benefit, so you only need to be able to start casting a spell with the aura up to get the benefit (so, yes, 4 hasted base 2.5 sec spells is possible).
Thanks for the response.
Now the real question: While 4 hasted frostbolts is possible, is it realistic? I find that I have difficulty getting 5 frostbolts off during a 15 second trinket activation due to latency, so I will be thrilled if i can get 3 hasted bolts off during the proc

Lol, world drop my friend, you ain't farming this unless you got like 10 accounts going off at once botting. It's like a 0.2% drop rate, there is NO good place to farm it. Contrary to popular belief that the new 70 BoE epics have a good drop rate at Elemental Plateau in Nagrand, honestly it's probably b/c so many people Mote farm their so their's a higher probability it will drop just b/c of the massive slayings that go on there, not really because the Elementals like dropping Epix or something.

Oh and to the A$$hole pally that rolled need on this. You are a douchebag. Any item that drops in a raid is rolled on as need or greed... it doesn't matter if it's boe, bop, "sells for 2000000g". This is the defualt rule if in the case it hasn't been discussed. You would be correct to roll on it ONLY if a discussion took place that "all boe items are a free-for-all regardless of need". The mage clearly can roll need as he could use this full time. You certainly have no need for it, and are a bitch for rolling on it. If he spreads the truth that you are a ninja, this would be justified.
depending on your paladin's spec, he was either a simple ninja, or "half right", but didn't think his decision to roll all the way through when he saw epic and went into what I like to call a "purple haze"
if he was holy or retribution, he's either just ninjaing or he's woefully stupid. cuz there is absolutely no valid use either spec would have for this that constitutes "need", it might slightly help him with an offset of gear for grinding if he's holy, but that's it.
if he's protection, that's another matter. I have a 70 protection paladin myself, and I can tell you, virtually 100% of competant paladin tanks do their tanking with a spell damage caster weapon. if your group would like to enjoy the AOE tanking goodness that is a pally holding 7 elites at once, he's gonna need to pump up that spell damage for nice juicy holy shield blocks and consecration ticks. so for the spell damage, especially if his was very low and he did not have any caster weapon, he might legitimately believe this to be a good tanking weapon for him. that said, he obviously did not think his roll all the way through, as this thing has no stats, notably no stamina, and the proc is useless to him, as all the spells a paladin uses to tank are instant, making this weapon enormously inferior for him to 70 blues such as the continuum blade, crystalforged sword, or mana wrath, or the honor hold/thrallmar epic caster swords. were it me, I'd not roll need on this over a DPS caster who needed it, but depending on his gear, it might not really qualify as ninjaing.
The vast vast majority of harmful paladin spells are instant cast and so won't benefit from the proc. If you want it for the spell damage then there are much better ones.
It doesn't proc on healing spells, and it's 1H so if it'll gimp your melee DPS if you try it, so the only way I can possibly imagine this would be useful for a paladin is for a hybrid tank/healer that casts healing spells when it procs, which is a ridiculous corner case.
I think it's safe to say if you're a paladin and think you have equal precedence to a primary spellcaster on this then you're either a ninja or deluded.
You should never be rolling for alts. That's just stupid. Your alt isn't there. Your pally is. If there's a Mage or Warlock (or Shadow Priest) in the group, not a chance can you claim your alt needs this so deserve to roll.
That's just stupid.
Youre right, Pala's need +dps. But the Blade of Wizardry is definatly not AMong Tankadin, or DPS-adin weapons. A Tankadin would need a much heavier sword with way more Stamina, more damage, and either agility or defence rating, this sword is made for one thing and one thing a lone.
"Casting Ranged spells"
And even so, not a good sword at that, better to farm a Gladiator war staff
There's reading and then there's comprehension.
Went out farming today. I use my husbands warlock for that since my holy priest is not the best farmer. He has been wanting this beauty for months and talked about it all the time and schemes on what he could do to buy it. So, out farming first kill(a Skettis Wing Guard) and this sucker dropped. I screamed so loud my neigbors could hear. Called my hubby right away and told him I had a gift for him.
So I'm trying to decide whether or not I should trade everything I own that's worth anything (probably about 1300 - 1500g worth - 1 epic pattern, 4 primal mights, high end herbs... Nothing I can't replace) for this sword - I have a human 70 lock, only got 1 epic right now (spellstrike pants), and I have the Bringer of Death for my staff. I'm worried about losing 41 crit when I'm afflic+ruin specced. I get 2300-2400 on a decent shadowbolt crit, and I have about 16% crit rate. Is there an enchant I can get that back with? Also, what kind of offhand item could I get to compliment the sword with some good crit?
Anyone got any input on this? Is this smart? Or not worth it?
I'll just say that yeah you are a jerk but anyone who doesn't check out a few sites like this or even ask around in game about the value of an epic is a fool. Let the above post be a warning.
Why be this big of a jerk when it's so easy to make money in trade without that kind of crap? I buy epics for 1/2 value all the time just because people offer it for that, or accept my initial lowball.
Lowballing is perfectly reasonable and seller beware. Often they know what it's worth but would rather get 50% and get it out of their bags and get back to playing the part of the game they enjoy.
Getting all your friends to lie to the guy about the value is a scum move.
And lowering your offer when the guy just agreed to your deal is another dick move I can't stand from either side of a trade.
I practically own the ah on my server and all my money is made from trading, but I've never had to stoop to that kinda of bs to make money. Plenty of deals I can turn for nice profit show up as an offer in trade or on the ah.
The rep I have with people who will now farm and knowingly send me good-selling items at 50-70% of ah prices just to save time and aggravation has made me far more gold than using bullshit tactics to rip off a few unwary traders would have.
I make an average of 2000g a week trading mats, primals and epics for an hour a day or so, and never once had to do anything I consider the slightest bit shady. Where is the value? It's pixels on a screen. And well, I don't do that in my RL business dealings either.
I am utterly puzzled by paladins needing on this, regardless of specc.
As a longtime protection paladin, I can say I would never dream of needing on this weap for tanking. I would go as far as to say that if it dropped and I was all by myself and didn't have a weap with higher spell dam, I still wouldn't use it, I would rather make a profit, cos i won't benefit from the imba spell haste buff. If you are a paladin looking for a 1h spell dam weap, I highly recommend getting Merciless Gladiator's Gavel/Vengeful Gladiator's Gavel, depending on your rating ofc. You get good stats, spell hit and good damage. Best tankadin weap pre-BT imo. If you can't muster even a half-assed arena team or need a weap fast, look for Crystalforged Sword on AH. If this never pops up, get revered with Keppers of Time and buy Continuum Blade.
Blade of Wizardry is for casters, period. A pala needing on this sword makes no sense to me and is a downright disgrace to the class and deserves being branded as a ninja.
Sorry for being a bit off-topic, just wanted to let the people who had this ninjaed by a pala know that their anger is justified og hopefully help some palas to find the right 1h spell damage weap.
well, dropped off of final boss in shattered halls, me and the other lock both rolled need, then a resto druid ninja'd... guess i'll never get it
Yeah, Just picked this up in Shat Halls. The warrior in the group typed out in bold letters, "EVERYONE NEED." Jerk-%ff. Anyhow the Shaman, Paladin, Rogue all hit pass right away while I hit need. Luckily beating out the warrior... He then lectured me on why I was the ninja because he needs to get his epic flying mount... The paladin healer(who was leader) dropped him from group at once! Goes to show you that some paladins out there know their stuff!!! Anyway I'm a happy mage. I agree with a previous poster. This weapon is best used on boss fights. When both my trinket and sword proc 280+320 haste. My fireballs fly like a machine gun. =)
Definetly a hunter weapon! My arcane shots will own you all!!!!
My hunter friend got it from a simple mob in the Isle of Quel'Danas, then he linked it on guild chat for me and said "Its yours".
I'm a happy mage with great friends. ::D

You will feel like saying "Luke I Am Your Father..." if you play with this bad boy. Looks exactly like a light saber. (Yes, it is REALLY that bright!)
Pick up the +40 spell damage enchant, you're ready to kick some Empire/Jedi butt.
Is it worth the gold? Absolutely! From a fun standpoint if nothing else. Is it quite is as good as the Gladiator's Spellblade? Probably not, unless you have great gear where spell haste is at a premium. What's is nice though is that the better your gear, the better this becomes because of how +spell haste is valued.
Everyone and their dog has the Spellblade these days. Think different. There's nothing like defending in Arathi Basin, and when you see someone in the distance, you unsheath your light saber, and watch them turn around...lol
Awesome look + awesome proc = awesome fun!
would this be good for destro warlock?
The mind blade is definitely a great weapon but I ended up grabbing this off a mob in nagrand while farming LOL. Fired +40 spell dmg on it (This is definitely not worth wasting soulfrost mats on) and had some fun in my regular heroics & raids.
Definitely love the "What the..." When this bright ass sword gets pulled out by a warlock LOL
Ok so i know this has a proc cooldown but does the cooldown cause other CoH spell hastes to have cooldowns or is it possible to get this sword, (Quag's eye) http://thottbot.com/?i=59610, and (mystic skyfire diamond) http://thottbot.com/i25893 all to proc at the same time?? and if u have time add in http://thottbot.com/?i=40727, sure it'd only last for 5 or 6 seconds but the amount as an arc mage casting acrane bolt or blast w/ that amount of haste would be GODLY, i mean sure theres only a .225% chance of all three procing at the same time but thats still a chance! and during long boss fights it wuld be super yummy. i mean thats 1250 haste rating for 5-6 seconds just from buffs not counting if u already have haste rating due to sockets/gear... Its a long shot but a mage can dream. lol
The proc is pretty short.
I just got this on my lock preety good random drop i used staffs b4 but changed cause this is a beauty =D
This weapon, though a great clothy item... is the reason.. for so much spam on my server's trade channel... I want it to go away.
its a rlly nice sword with some nice spelldmg on it( i bought it for 500g (server: vashj))
