1) read the diary in the barn
2) go find and kill the Wandering Skeleton until
you get the Dalson Outhouse Key.
3) open the outhouse and kill the ghoul.
4) loot the cabinet key off the ghoul
5) go to the second floor of the house and use
the key to open the cabinet.
6) you're done
Rewards for doing all this:
+13 STA ring
25 dps rifle (looks kinda neat)
If you are having trouble finding the Wandering Skeleton, it might be b/c that Scarlet squad in front of the barn is killing it too fast. I found it there twice, first time they killed it too fast for me to loot.
i got my outhouse key on my first drop ater i read the journal but i cant open the outhouse o.O
i tryed destroying the key and getting another one but i still cant open the outhouse can some1 plz help me =(
When I first entered the area I killed him. Then I read the journal in the barn and after I came out, there was no Wandering Skeleton. And he did not spawn. I went to the west side of the house and killed one of the undead there. As soon as that undead died, the Wandering Skeleton spawned a few feet away.
The outhouse is directly behind the barn.
1) Read the diary in the barn
2) Kill wandering skelly to pick up key to the outhouse (dropped off first skelly I found for me)
3) Open outhouse behind the barn, kill Farmer Dalson (lvl56) and loot key
4) Clear out skellies from house and open cabinet
Quite straightforward. After killing Farmer Dalson, another outhouse key dropped on my way to the front of the house for the next stage :)
48,51 is where I found the wandering skeleton. Obviously, he is not always in the same place.
Actually, I couldn't find the little guy so I pulled up thottbot and started reading what everyone had posted. As I am reading I hear the "entering combat" sound... sure enough the skeleton found me. Killed and got the key. This is useless information for you but a good story eh?

I have the outhouse key. The outhouse has a blue "?" over it. I can not open the outhouse. What's the problem?
Just talked to the GM. It is a known bug (the outhouse can not be clicked on). Drop the quest or leave it till they get it fixed.
Can confirm that outhouse has blue question mark above it and I have the key but it doesn't open the outhouse. This is definitely another bug.

It is bugged once again, as of 12:15 EST on Dec 1. Outhouse has ? and I have looted outhouse key off skeleton, but cannot click on or open outhouse.
A GM just told me the bug happens because we (players) kill the Wandering Skeleton too far away from the outhouse, which seemed not quite right to me (why would this one quest in the whole game have such a proximity requirement without saying so in the quest). So I tried killing it closer, I was standing right next to it when the skeleton died, and sure enough still couldn't click on the outhouse...
I got into the outhouse today. The must have fixed the glitch.

Broken on Cenarion Circle too. Same thing...blue ? with key in ring, doesn't work.
Yeah it's still bugged on taurilyon server. Same thing, it's blue but cannot do anything to open it with key.

As of Monday, March third 2008 this quest was debugged by a Game Master. I was hunting undead on my 5 Nelf Hunter, on the realm Caelestrasz, and talked to a GM. They have fixed the quest and Wandering Skeleton to drop the Outhouse Key with a 100% drop rate. Good Luck to all and happy hunting!

I tried this today (3/20/08). The outhouse is still bugged. I can't click on it. Had no problems getting the key.

3/20/08 - Tried to do the quest today. Got the outhouse key with no problem. Outhouse is STILL bugged; I can't click it. Sent in a ticket, but had to log off before hearing back.

Bugged on Dentarg EU 9th April 2008.
Spoke to GM, got my to delete my WTF/cache/Interface folders. Didnt help
Said something about a bug being known about involving a player dying while interacting with it could cause it to stop functioning, but wouldn't give me further details about it.
I asked him to do some things involving sharp pointed objects and various body parts, and the conversation was over.
Bugged, 13.04.08 (April 13), The Sha'tar EU.
GM told me:
"This is a known issue as current as is being looked into. Thank you for the report regardless however. I would advise you to check back at a later date and it should be restored. I would advise after an server restarts as Game Masters cannot restore the issue personally."
Outhouse bugged Yet again on Drenden Server. 05/17/08
Contacted GM about the bug. Apparently the bug is caused by those who flee after spawning the farmer from the Outhouse, left unfought the Farmer Despawns after an extended period, thus creating a bug on the outhouse. They fixed the issue by spawning him and killing him immediately. Then I was free to complete my quest unhindered. They do indeed have a fix for this issue in the works.

yeah...seems like its still bugged, I got the key, but I couldn't open the outhouse, so I destroyed it and killed the wandering skeleton right next to the outhouse and I still can't open it
I just recomend makeing a Target Wandering Skeleton while u kill a bit in the feild =P
I stood next to the outhouse for about 5 to 10 minutes and the wandering skeleton spawned right behind me.
5 kills no key, and I have read the diary like 10 times waiting for the skeleton to respawn
also some noob death knight ninjad a kill from me and got the key first time wtf
Killed the Wandering Skeleton 10 times and no key drop, so I give up.
It worked for me. Real easy!
However, after reading the other posts here, I would suggest that you
-read the diary in the barn,then
-go to the outhouse, click on it; it won't open (but the quest screen will pop up), then
-go after the wandering skeleton.
He just randomly walked up close to the outhouse, so I gaked him there, got the key, and dealt with the ghoul in the outhouse.
BIG NOTE: I was within 5 feet of the outhouse when I killed the wandering skeleton! If this quest is still bugged (I doubt it) then this may be a way around the bug.
Make sure you kill everything in the vicinity BEFORE opening the outhouse. They all come a runnin' to pound you when you open that door.
