You have to complete quest - it is given at Darkshore and it is just a deliver to Darnasus

Could a human priest learn the spell if he travelled to Darkshore? Or will the quest only be avaliable to NEs?

A human priest can't get starshards, they get desperate prayer and feedback instead.

desperate prayer and feedback are nice spells though!

This is one of the Night Elf priest racial spells, you get it at lvl 10 from the temple of the moon in Darnassus on the top floor.

However i do not reccomend using this spell for shadow priests, holy spec and discipline go right ahead, and at low levels its alot of fun, but as soon as you start putting a fair few points into the shadow tree this spell sucks compared to mindflay. For a start its 6 second channeled which is twice the duration of mindflay and costs just over twice the mana to cast when compared to mindflay (when you get struck during a channeled spell the channeling stops, with mindflay thats not such a big deal as the channeling is half the duration, plus alot of 2h weapons have a 3sec+ strike time so thats really not an issue with mindflay). When you start putting serious points into the shadow tree such as vampiric embrace, shadow weaving and darkness, mindflay is the bees knees i havent looked back to star shards since... well its been a while =)

44 NE priest here. This spell is useful in addition to mindflay. If you're never using starshards you're missing out on alot of oppurtunities. 1st off, this spell doesnt stop casting when someone runs out of its range...it goes the full 6 seconds. If you miss a mindflay, they are gone for good. Also, this spell interrupts casting every second, while mindflay doesnt. If I hold starshards on a caster in between mindflays, they can rarely, if ever get spells off. When starshards falls, use silence then nuke, then starshards again. Their will be no casting until it/he/she is dead.

Each to their own i spose, im a 46 NE priest and yeah i see ur point about the star shards spell interuption, but i have no beef with casters at all, they dont even get a chance to hit me because i have improved power word: shieldso i can recast on myself every 15 secs.  All i do is shadow word: pain, vampiric embrace, (mindblast, mindflay, mindflay)n repeating n as necessary. they dont last long and even if they do manage to break ur shield ur healing urself as you attack.

by best alliance priest do u mean for pvp or healing?

IMO for pvp if ur sticking with alliance go with night elf, y?, because shadowmeld is the best thing for an alliance priest in pvp. I use it all the time even on a pve server u can just drink shadowmeld and ur fine until ur ready. also BTW u dont get unshadowmelded until u finish casting a spell or if u move. its awesome to get ur starting spells of when they cant even see u yet.
