There is a secret boss in whitemanes area in the cathedral in the right side u have to clear out a few mobs. Inside the room on the back wall to the left there is a torch, think sherlock holmes it opens up the wall and there will be a corpse its a mini boss lvl 40 i believe not too hard fun for drops tho.

Im 60 pally, and I solo SM for gold (items...). I can solo SM in 1½ hour without any troubles at all - killing ALL.
I sell green items in AH with buyout at suggested price +1 gold - in that way I sell 80% of the items. I make 30-40g from each run there. Thats more than 20g/hour ! Sure u can win a blue item roll in a high lvl instance - but u can also use 4 hours in a high lvl instance and get crap ! So if u need the money do SM ! The left instance is undeads - very easy for a pally :)

Find a group going to SM in ironforge.
To get there, you must fly to Southshore, and walk up thru Hillsbrad into Alterac and until you reach Lordamere Lake. Traverse the lake and emerge on the western side of the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades. From there, its signposted 'Monastery' - but for reference its in the northeastern-most part of Tirisfal.

Just for fun I tried to see if I could solo SM. I'm a level 52 paladin, holy/retrib spec.
The Library and Armoury were easy enough to do. Pretty fun overall (I'm pretty much a loner, so it was all good). Was able to kill everything without dying of course. The Cathedral however was where things got really interesting. The courtyard area was a cinch, but once you enter the Cathedral hall proper, things got rough. The main problem was that I wanted to kill Mograine and Whitemane, but before I did that I had to make sure I killed everyone else in the building (since the moment you touch Mograine, he yells for help and everyone in the cathedral comes to him. So I proceeded to slowly but surely kill everyone else first. Now the part where it got tough was against the Scarlet Abbots. Due to their healing (and never running out of mana) it was an unbelievable pain to take them out. (not a problem if there were two of us taking them out, but solo it was tough). To give you an idea it took me an average of 3-4 minutes to kill an abbot (with a combination of Blessing of Might, Seal of Command, and lots of luck). The toughest part was facing two of the abbots and one go. Made me want to climb the wall in frustration. Once it was done, I noticed that there were _some_ repops, but it was for the patrolling mobs in the cathedral. Looks like their repop timer is faster then the fixed location mobs. Quickly took out the few wandering mobs, attacked Mograine, slew him. Whitemane showed up, attacked her, halfway through she rezzed Mograine. It was going okay and then another Scarlet soldier repopped and joined them. Not sure if it made a difference, but I ran into Whitemane's sanctuary with the three after me (hoping to allay any further repops from joining them). Slew the soldier, Mograine and Whitemane. Had to use Blessing of Protection, Divine Aura, and bandages, but didn't have to touch any pots. I didn't die even once, so it was an interesting solo run. Although not one that I'd recommend to others if they're trying to do the "Into the Scarlet Monastery" quest.
I think that SM Graveyard is very good for grinding money around 40. I'm 41 lvl (atm) Hunter and soloing grav since 40. Im making between 10 - 20 g in 1 run (max 1 h), but i think it depends of server prices on ah. Lets say you will finish run with 5 - 8 greens and 1 - 3 blues and 3 - 5 g from drops and regular vendor sales. Would like to share few tips for other hunters.
About configuration: Im reather pvp built so im using cat - Broken Tooth, and Scarlet Chain Set (i know that was many discussions bout its usefuleness for hunters - i think is good couse in bg u have to live to deal dmg :P) i recomended more Armor and Stamina boost then Agi for that run. I think that pets 'must have' is Growl 5 and Dash 1. Forecast: 1. Use multishot to pull few - no metter wich shot you'll use always all group will go after you so why dont deal some more dmg 2. Always pull to fully cleared area - when fighting few u want to ur pet finish running ones when they go out of ur range (too close or too far) and you dont want to agro more so be sure that there will be free space for chasing 3. Never mind pet when you are attacked - if ur pet health goin below 1/3 and u think he could not survive without healing growl targets that attacking you, go back to ur previous target and mind pet then. 4. If u think that ull have to change targets during fight turn off autogrowl in the middle of the fight - should be ready for use at the next target. 5. Use ur tracking abilitty (humanoids before courtyard and undeads in). Its always better to know what is wondering around u :P 6. Never pull using Concusive Shot! - If you are pulling you want yours targets in apropriate place as soon as possible! 7. If you finished main target and you are attacked by some other and you are low of life dont melee attack it when your pet is going for it - melee attack couse more thread and may happens that growl will not take aggro from you. Just stand and do nothing or go to pets direction. 8. It may seems obvius - when u pulling dont send ur pet! When u have target on place u want it to be its time for growing it. 9. Multishot is really god tool for dividing agro between u and ur pet! 10. U can use freeze trap to divide ur tragets but usually ur main target trigers the trap :(. 11. When fighting those black ghosts when they start to cast sth be ready with multishot every attack killes their familiars. Guide to trouble part of grav: When u clear the corridor there comes the hardest part... 1. Pull the first 2 mobs in front of u to the corridor. 2. Kill the one spellcaster wich patrolling this area pulling him to corridor u just cleared. 3. On the left you have miniboss 32 lvl but toughter then regular ellite + 30 lvl Torturer - pull them to corridor using multi shot and send ur pet to the boss. Let torturer attack u and finish the boss, after he dies growl Torturer and heal ur pet. 4. Behind the pillar - north from the mini boss location stands 2 torturers - pull them to corridor and finish them there. 5. On the front of corridor u should have chest - somtimes its not locked but always guarded by 4.For now u should cleared all in room except those 4 (you dont have to kil those mobs u can pass them and proceed unnoticed). Place freezing trap when you're in shoot range just before you. Send ur pet, start shooting the same target, use multishot - effect u should have 2 mobs attacking pet and 2 mobs attacking u (one freezed :D). U have to kill at least one target so do what it takes to achieve that. If u think that u can kill the 2nd one - good! go for it. Feign Death and let them kill ur pet. When thay goes back for their spawn possitions revive pet, rest and finish the rest. From that point everything is really easy on 40 just smart play everything u do and in main catacumbs pull one by one and kill them on the stairs. One of my favorite instances, ran it through 8times in one day in search of illusionary rod, triune amulate, and whitemane's chapeu...
this instance has some of the best drops...thats the main reason why people do it... Also, there is glitch in there(for mages: Steps: Go in Library Instance Face the Exit, but be against the wall Run towards the instance(as if exiting) RIGHT before you touch the cloud looking thingy of the instance, use blink If you do it right, you will blink right past the exit and be in a room This room will be the room were you pick the instance to go in, but all the instances are blocked by walls Youll see a grey wall...walk into it and jump...there are 2 guards you can kill The room is very cool...it has clouds, and the sun in the distance..but its a grey floor, REALLY big... If you get to the edge...you can try to jump, and you stay floating, then just blink out...(you dont die) But be careful of holes in the floor, if you fall, you die...even if you use slowfall... Theres one with a chest in the middle...dont get it...(you die)... Seriously, Herod is really easy. Everyone talks about him being so tough and here is why. If you stand there while he spins around and take all of his blows, then yes, you will take a lot of damage.
Be smart, when he starts spinning, just back away from him, let him spin his heart out, and then resume fighting him when he stops. Pretty simple. He is a pushover if you realize that you shouldnt stand there while he whirls around whacking you over and over again. This is a really big instance consisting of FOUR separate parts. Not just one, like many people want to think.
The first part is the easiest, perferably for levels 29-34. This is the graveyard. It can be found on the LEFT side of the Monastery (From when you walk in.) The loot here isn't THAT great, most are just trash mobs and some "mini-bosses." But for those who want to try out Scarlet Monastery, this is for you. After you reach the level for the next part, the library, it is found in the portal right across the graveyard. This is for levels 32-35 ish. This instance drops mostly caster gear, and is a very short instance. At the end, remember to pick up the Scarlet Key in the chest. This allows acess to the other two parts of the instance. Next, the armory. This is the door located right in front of the library instance. Fairly quick, this is intended for levels 35+. Most loot here is for mail-wearers. Besides the armory, is the last one. The Cathedral. Hardest part of Scarlet Monastery, this is for levels 36+. Cloth and leather drop here, I believe. SM by bloodfang2142, Score -0.27

- Don't summon the dog, he pulls aggro Armory - Move away from blades of light - Don't panic when a bunch of mobs run in after killing Herod, they are weak, just AoE their asses. Scarlet Monastery contains 4 seperate instances in which i find to be very easy.
First off is graveyard. Min level i would suggest is 29. Youll start off in a torture room with a bunch of elite guys and a boss that drops some fist weapons and a dagger sometimes. after you'll be in a graveyard with a lot of elites and non elites.(non elites travel in groups of 3)you dont need to clear, but if you want the most xp and loot i suggest you do. at the end of graveyard your in a tomb with same mobs you faced before. Boss here is easy but watch out for his spells, he drops some cloth shoulders and an off hand caster weapon. theres also a few rare spawns in graveyard, ill leave it to you to find them. Next is library. min level i think is 33 or so. casual and easy killing for the first part with some healers and mobs with pets. dont froget to kill the houndmaster here, he drops some good loot and is fairly easy with a paladin tank. This is a short instance so dont sweat the rest of it just watch out for the guys with mana burn who WILL target casters and drain them. Boss here is sorta hard if your group is stupid. Just watch out for his silence and youll be fine. at 50% health boss sheilds and does mass AoE. MOVE OUT OF THE ROOM WHEN HE DOES THIS or you will take a shitload of damage. boss drops caster gear-shoulders,dagger,staff. dont froget to loot the chest in back of him which contains scarlet key! Now for armory. Min level is 35 that i suggest. tough elites here, watch out for the casters in the begining with their elementals. Once you get inside the armory (you aint outside anymore) you will be pulling in groups of 2-3 with usually one healer in each group. target the healer first and go from there. Boss here is easy with a good group. make sure you aggro him when everyone is there (4 guards spawn in the previous hallway when you aggro and leave when you kill). Everyone move away when he does 'blades of light' and casters make sure you dont waste your mana when he does that cause he immune then. boss drops a good 2h axe, nice mail helm, and some other loot. when he dies, a bunch of non elites come in to avenge him. mages use arcane explosion and they die fast. Last we have here in cathedral. Min level 36 or 37. theres a few patrolers in the courtyard area so make sure you pull them first or pull groups away from them so you dont die from adds. Kill the mymeridions fast as they enrage and do alot of damage to the tank when low health. When you enter the actual cathedral you'll see a ton of guys all kneeling down. keep the lower levels away from the inside so they dont pull at first and get a higher level to pull the first few groups outside. proceed into the cathedral and make sure you clear the sides. if you aggro the boss the entire cathedral will rush you and you will wipe. Mograin & Whitemane are a bitch team, but you should get them easy with a good tank and healer. Kill mograine as you would and other mob- tank and spank. once he dies Whitemane rushes out. once whitemane is at 50% she sleeps the entire group and rezzes Mograine then heals herself to 100%. have all members target the priest first as she does heals and shield that make life hard for you. once she dies kill mograine, but beware of his divine shield. this team drops a necklace,2h mace, 1hmace, mail gloves,shield, and cloth hat. there is also a secret boss here in the right side of the chapel. click the torch there to reveal the undead priest. he drops various greens.
