First of all. This is the best lvl 19 twink mage, lock, priest, and possibly hunter (it depends how you play)weapon. I think it's best for a hunter b/c even with this staff, i run out of mana constantly, and unless you are fighting a non-twink, youre pretty screwed b/c you have no mana for Concussive shot, or wing clip. For a mage, i would even say it's more important, as a mage you need BIG crits to stay alive on that battlefield, and mana is really your only means of causing dmg,other than wands, while locks have pets, and they can shoot wands, and even mana tap if neccessary. Idk too much about priests, never made one b4, but the same thing applies to a priest like a mage, no mana tap, only means of dmg is a wand...
...Second of all, stop whining about the price, 70g is about the usual and fair price on my server (Earthen Ring),(I got lucky and bought this off AH for 36g!) this is not a staff to buy for your alt who will replace it in a couple lvl's, it's for a twink, who will be staying at lvl 19 for a very long time or perhaps forever. And 70g is not very much for a lvl's 65-70.
Third of all, don't try to farm this, it will almost never drop, those percents thottbot has up there... well, they're not lying, and the wide variety of mobs that drop it means that this is a world drop so it can drop off almost any creature in that lvl range.
Well, for a hunter, it is the best you can get. Only alternatives are Prospector's Axe (7str/8stam) and having a 1-hander (Like Wingblade (5agi/2stam) +Eerie Stable Latern (+4 stam) On first glance, Wingblade + Latern looks good, 5agi/6stam, as some hunter like more agility instead of mana. But then you have to look at the fact that Wingblade can have 15agi as an enchant, while the Twisted Chanter's Staff can get 25. That extra 10 agi is a big deal. So it leaves you looking for a two-hander, and as I said, the Prospector's Axe is the only other one thats any good, and a Hunter shouldn't need the 7 strength. Regardless, I'll say either the Prospector's Axe or the Twisted Chanter's Staff are both very good Hunter twink weapons. If you absolutely need that extra 2 stam, go for the axe, but the staff will keep you using your nice magic attacks a little longer.

This staff owns the westfall staff, especially for pvp, twinks to be more specific. Twinks being people that will pay 80g for a staff like this....

You see, my ignorant chum, this staff has more intellect than stamina. Now, would it not benefit a warlock more to have it go the opposite way? For mages, intellect = life. For warlocks, stamina = mana. Therefore, a mage's base mana pool needs to be bigger than a warlock's, as they can just life tap their mana needs away.
Since we (the mages) have no conversion from life to mana, such as life tap, this would in fact not only benefit a mage, but maybe even more so than it would a lock.

I figured I would post that this dropped for me today in Durnhold Keep. I didn't notice that it had ever dropped there before and seems to be a truly random, rare, world drop.
I don't need it, but I'm as greedy as everyone else and will try to get maximum dollar for it on the Duskwood server.

To the person who asked what to class to twink with this staff, I'd say mage or hunter, Warlocks use [Witching Staff] as it has 11+ stadow damage on it.

This staff is so much better than my others, I put spellpower on it (Mage btw) Fire ball crit 309 , followed by a 238 crit of fireblast, it was insane, Just thought i'd add that. This thing is really good, I recomend all mages picking this up whenever the chance comes.

I just sold this on Norgannon for 100g. There weren't any other on AH. 70 warrior with a twink bought it. Didn't even have to put an enchant on it. If you get this item, just wait till there aren't any on AH and someone will buy it from you for as much as you want. Have a nice day :)

what i dont understand, is why spend so much money when you could just get the emberstone staff? the intell, and stamina pluses arnt that far off, (1-2) and you get spirit(+5). I dont see spending 50g+ when you could just use emberstone.
I found one of these in a solid chest at Skull Rock in Wetlands. Put it in AH at 80g buyout and it went in under 2 hours!! Chuffed to bits!! Not too happy about the 4g commision though ;-)

What are you talking about?? Of course hunters don't melee or anything but the stamina and the intellect is great. Especially if you add +15 or +25 agil on it makes a great hunter weapon.

This is an awesome warlock, mage and hunter twink item. For warlocks it is your choice... you could have witching stave which is 8 int and 11 shadow sp damage, or you could have this staff, which is more expensive but better. It depends if you can be bothered farming the cash.

I got this staff in wetlands while doing the quest, "The Absent Minded Professor". I put it in the AH for 128g 81s like thottbot said it was worth and it sold in 10 minutes. Pretty good money maker i'd say.

Best way to use this staff: Get 22 intellect on it. Depending on your class/spec, get a staff with either +healing like Staff of the Blessed Seer or one with spell damage. Get 55 healing or spell damage on that.
At the beginning of every fight, use your twisted chanters with 22 intellect. This will vastly increase your hp/mana pool. When you use up around 500 mana, switch to your +damage/healing staff.
Since stamina and intellect only affect your MAXIMUM health and mana, you aren't losing anything by switching ~30 intellect for spell damage/healing. This is a great way to improve effectiveness if you are a caster.
Just bought this off AH WITH +25 Agility already on it for 99g.

This just dropped randomley when i was boosting my friend in Stocks...since he was paying me..he said he would let me have it...i have a 19 twink hunter with Prospecter's Axe..Should i send it to him and get 25 agi on it..or should i sell it and keep the money with my main..hes lvl 66 and he only has 270g..should i send the money to him for my flying mount to save up for When i ding 70?

Dude ridiculous money comes in when you're at top level and completing quests for cash, and 200-odd g isn't really gonna make a difference to your flying mount fund - take the staff for your twink.
I personally prefer Lorekeeper's staff because it has more stamina and it has some intellect, but the 3 mana per 5 seconds will equal the intellect out so yeah... also its pretty much free because if you WSG a lot you'll get sooo many marks..i keep on getting full of them (100 of them) so i am forced to go get higher level equipment incase i decide to level and make a 29 or 39 twink.

Lol on my server i farm alot so that why im on alot of this junk but BTW dunno if i was just lucky but I got a run thru WC And 2 of theese droped of dif mobs a druid of the fang and that murloc guys first was a i siked like WOOOHOOO next one i was HOLY SHIT FUCK YEAH! and i ended up making a hunter twink and gave other 2 my mage twink (Im from horde BTW)
