Actually there is something special about him. He runs the quarter mile in 26 seconds. This may seem like just a number but it makes him one of the fastest tamable creatures in the game while persuing things. Beleive it or not if leveled accordingly Takk can chase down players on mounts (the lower cost mounts). this makes him a very valuable pet!!

It is my conclusion that Takk has either multiple spawn points or a large roaming area. At lvl 19 i went to the coordinates outlined by thotbott, 61,14ish i believe, and i camped out for like 2 or 3 hours and didn't see Takk at all. So i got bored and decided to run up and down the ridge and kill stuff to pass the time. As i went north, to like the second or third clearing, there he was just walking around. So i attempted a tame and basically got ripped to shreds, and by the time i had retrieved my body he had been killed. So i came back at lvl 20 and camped the spot i had found him in for several hours to no avail. Then as i headed south towards thotbott's coordinates, he was in one of the other clearings, laid a frost trap, and got'im. So the moral of the story is, if you don't find him in one spot, just peruse that ridgeline.

It took me about 5 hours to finally find him. I camped him on and off, and finally found him east of The Sludge Fen. I got him on first try, at Lv19, though I barely escaped. As I watched my character being shred to pieces, I managed to successfully tamed him b/c he missed ONE last attack at the end, if he'd hit with that last one, I'd be dead, but no, I was lucky enough to dodge it. I was and am the happiest Orc on Blackhand.
Be assured, he's worth it. I entered WSG at 20, and Takk chased down every flag-runner that dare try to get away from him. :) :)

30 Minutes to get Takk Step 1: Keep Killing Everything around you this includes the birds to!! BUT their levels dont change suddenly like the raptors do. ((the lower the level mobs usually starts at about 16-17 raptors for the first 15 minutes of killing)) Step 2: Takk Will Appear Right Next to The Little Lake/Factory Place ((How you will know he is going to spawn soon is more raptors than birds will respawn and the will all be level 18)) Step 3: Tame his quick little butt and have your self ONE of the fastests pets until 30 because he can't learn dash but you dont get dash until then anyway
Got my hunter friend to come frost trap it while I was taming it. Here are it's pet details: Power: 68 Damage: 26 - 34 Armor: 1094 Health: 491 That is with no beast training. I love it =D
Question: are his stats a little random on taming? I was hunting for him last night and another hunter showed up and I just let him have it, and he ran FAST! Probably just as fast if not faster than a normal mount (not sure if the guy had beastial swiftness or not). I just woke up this morning and tamed Takk myself and hes not as fast (but I think he is faster).

I read the postings here and was expecting a long and ardous hunt, went to the boulder lode mine (in the barrens, headed south the next plateu (sp) and he spawned right in front of me! 45 mins total time spent looking.
I was using eyes of the beast (I think thats how its written) and was running beside a non-mounted PC and passed him like the guys was walking. Takk is awesome and fast! Look for me on argent dawn: Argyl and Cuddles (Takk) Thanks for all the help here in finding him!

Just got him by myself at lvl 19. took 15 mins max to finding him and catching him. I used http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=818 and stuck him in place for 10 sec. Got him with 15% health left. lol

Takk the Leaper, Said to be one of the fastest Pet in the Game.
Must've been in the older versions though. Caught him 2 Days ago, was very proud, and so on... Bla... bla.. bla... Well, anyways... I have made him chase a creature (I have the Talent that Increases Hunters pets Movement Speed) with myself running by his side, he runs faster than me, naturally, since he has the Speed "buff". Now I turn on AotC (Aspect of the Cheetah), and we run at the same speed, so, Takk's speed has been nerfed. According to the posts above he should move about 35-40% faster (Would be at 75-80% speed). So, you who dream of making Takk chase some cowardice people, forget it, you won't make him catch anything but un-mounted players (Not even Sprinting ones). i have this mob for my twink 19 hunter i got him about 3 weeks ago so yes he still spawn got him next to the Co. pple that is the only place ive seen him also and ive seen him up a couple times usual i say in general that he is up if no one takes him for pet i kill him for loot

Hunters: This dinosaur shares the same model as the Deviate Stalkers in Wailing Caverns (the ones that stealth before the instance entrance).
They are much more common than waiting for this to spawn, and with the normalisation patches there's no difference between those raptors and Takk the Leaper.
I've heard a lot of stuff about getting Deviate Salkers instead of Takk the Leaper, or Corrupted Scorpids instead of Death Flayer, and that's okay, if you're a wimp. If you tame Death Flayer instead of a Corrupted Scorpid, you can say, "I caught Death Flayer intead of wussing out and getting a Corrupted Scorpid" or "I got Takk the Leaper because it's there", and that is what makes a true hunter. /bow

Takk The Leaper, what a lot of people like me want to go with their Humar, Well Takk resides at places near 58,7 East of sludge Fen. He moves so he won’t be directly in one spot unlike lazy Humar which sleeps -_-“, Like any other rare spawn he has a LONG spawn rate. What you should do is log on in intervals instead of wasting time Patrolling the grounds to find him. Be careful though as he is an elite also and hits HARD.I personally gave up on him but friend accidentally finding him told me to get my but up there and tame him. (Note: If you want to do something constructive level wise you can grind on the raptors that surround the area but beware some will call for help o.o, they also become adds when you do find Takk while taming so you can kill two birds with one stone)

No real problem, just lay down a frost trap and wait it out. He does hit hard though so if you don't have help, you might want to wait till you get frost trap. Also watch out for the dumb birds - lol.
