While I don't have my epic mount yet, I'll be getting one soon. Even if I did have it I would roll.
Sure I might not "need" it as much as someone who hasn't. But why should I miss out on this if I spent 800+g of my own money getting my mount? If someone without a mount loses a roll against someone who does, how is it any different? They're going to have to pay for their mount like everyone else which they would have done anyway.
Besides, I'd probably offer 3000g to the roll winner to pass it to me instead if it dropped on a run I was on.
If you're going to be giving it to the person with the greatest need, do you do this for all drops? If two players want a drop... for example, a 50dps weapon that is an upgrade for them. One player currently has a 40dps weapon, and the other has a 45dps weapon. Are you going to automatically give it to the person who needs the upgrade more?
This mount may be the same speed as other epics, but I consider it an upgrade. This item doesn't effect a character, it doesn't make you better, doesn't make you stronger. So why should I pass so someone else can get it?
"You only prove what I have been saying, that you are rolling purely for your own greed, and not out of necessity."
I was just having a discussion about this recently My opinion is that, if someone wants an epic mount they can get 900g with solo play. If an epic is not important to them, or if they're too lazy to farm the gold, why should they get a higher priority than someone that isn't too lazy?
It has the same stats as any epic, but it is not the same. If it were possible, it would sell for > 900g, which indicates it's not even close to the same as a standard epic. I could see someone actually deleting their own epic just to roll on this as an upgrade.
It seems to me that claiming only upgrades can roll is protecting the lazy and undeserving. Everyone should be able to roll.

2) No rep req. (Argent Dawn or otherwise)
3) It's a random drop. R-A-N-D-O-M.
4) I got this mount in March 2005 in a *pickup* group on Proudmoore. I was later among the people who volunteered to be transferred by Blizzard to Dragonblight because Proudmoore was a fustercluck of lag. I am there now and so is my Deathcharger. :)
5) This mount dropped off the Baron. In my group: Undeadfish rolled a 95 (still hear about this every now and then). I rolled a 98. The master looter did not ninja - unfortunately I cannot remember his name...class act.
6) This mount is no faster than a regular epic mount.
7) You *cannot* attack from this mount.
8) The most common comments I receive? "That poor horse." "You're going to kill it." "It looks hungry." "Where'd you get that?"
9) I ride my non-epic mount 90% of the time so I can simply play the game in peace. Cry for me. Haha. Some day I'll have to try out that whole "buying an epic mount" thing.
10) Here is me on my mount. No Photoshop necessary. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/impugn/wowscrnshot_100105.jpg
Hope this helps. :). Been meaning to chime in on this debate for a while, but never got around to it. There are many Allied to be crushed, you know.
EDIT: Even though, at the time, all of us who rolled on it (read: everyone present) did not have epic mounts, I still believe that this is an item of such caliber that it should be rolled on EVERY TIME by EVERYBODY who has a chance - whether they have an epic or not. This nonsense that somebody who already busted their hump to by a "regular" epic should opt out is bull.
EDIT2: Making it clear that I transferred chars from one server to another...did not leave one server and start fresh on another.

We just got this tonight on the Azjol-Nerub server doing a 10-man guild run. The first one on this server.
To put to bed other rumors- not a one of us was Exalted with AD (the highest was Revered). ALso as I stated we did it with a 10-man (mixed levels from 51 through 60.)"
I would love some factual information about the rumored drop rate increase when party members are Exaulted. If someone could post a link that would be great.
A quote from the CM, Fangtooth:
"The Deathcharger's Reigns are a very rare drop. Any rumors you have heard about it are just that; rumors. The only requirement is "convincing" the Baron to hand them over to you. I must warn you though, that the Baron is very stubborn, and you may have to defeat him in battle many, many, many times before he hands them over."
I hope this helps.

Why are people saying that Baron drops this when you're Exalted with Argent Dawn? I had a guy in my group tonight who claimed the Baron drops this when you're Exalted with Argent Dawn... He even said that it was confirmed by Blizzard. If it was that simple, not that it's easy to get Exalted with Argent Dawn but anyway, Everyone would have it after a while.
Your friend didn't have the rumor quite right. The rumor was never that the Baron *ALWAYS* drops the mount for someone with Exalted, but rather that he *ONLY* drops the mount for someone with exalted.
The rumor explained:
The whole thing came about because of the way Thottbot calculates drop rates. Thott has no way of knowing if you meet requirements for a drop to happen, so it can only give a straight ratio of drops/kills. This is the reason that displayed drop rates for quest items is so low. Drop rates are skewed downward by the massive amounts of kills by people who are not on the quest.
So when people saw that Thott had only recorded 2 drops ever (meaning the drop rate is of questionable reliability anyway), they assumed that something else must have been going on in the background. The logic was that no drop was that rare, so another factor must have been at play. Not that many people are Exalted with Argent Dawn, and the vast majority of those people probably don't run Baron much anymore.
And so the logical assumption was that if you were Exalted with AD (the same rep. req. for other race's mounts in your faction) then the Baron would have a (still small) chance of dropping the mount. Multiply that chance by the proportion of AD-Exalted players who still run Baron, and you get the "impossibly low" drop rate of the Baron's mount.
To be clear, there was NEVER evidence to support this rumor, and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to DENY it. It was and is pure conjecture. But some people need it to give them hope. :)

OK Ill answer some of the questions and clarify things. First of all Im Raygar from the Eredar Server :).
Now to try and clarify things about whats required and what I use to efficiently farm this mount.
To do the Baron Runs you enter the SERVICE ENTRANCE Not the Main Entrance to Stratholme. As you are coming from lights hope chapel it will be the first Cave like entrance located on the map.
1. Argent Dawn Rep : As far as I know this has nothing to do with whether or not it drops. I cant really testify this one because I was Exalted with argent Dawn Pre BC.
2. Argent Dawn Trinket : I wasnt wearing mine when I got the mount, therefore all this does is what it says on it "Allows Acquisition of Scoruge Stones". Use a more powerful trinket and skip the stones unless you are paranoid about rep being a factor ( see no. 1 )
3. 45 min baron run : I also dont think this has anything to do with it but once again I cant swear by it because when it did drop I completed the 45 min baron run. However this used to drop for people before the 45 baron ( which is part of a quest chain for dungeon set 2 armor ) so you can probably rule this one out too.
----------- How to Preapare ---------
1. Be level 70. The better your gear, the better off you are. My gear was all epics ( Search Armory for Raygar on Eredar ) which may have been an overkill but remember this is a farming run. So you will want the fastest most efficient way possible. Also keep in mind this was written from my own experiences as a BM Hunter.
2. Go alone OR if you bring someone make sure they are trusted friends youve farmed with before. The last thing you want when it drops is someone to go "OH SHIT IM SOOOO SORRY I HIT NEED". Going solo or with trusted friends eliminates this problem.
3. Dont fight anything but bosses unless you accidentally pull something then kill it. As a 70 level player solo I can get to the baron in about 25 to 30 mins.
4. Farming can get pretty redundant especially when you develop your own system of running thru the instance. I would listen to Music or talk to friends on vent ( but only if they were on the run with me ) I also took enchanting so I could make money on the AH with shards , essences and dust as well as conserve space. Throw away any greys and whites when space is gettin low in the bags.
5. Set a goal and dont break it. Dont say "Im gonna farm this ALL Day until im ready to go to sleep" However I did do that once or twice but I dont mind the grind. 5 to 10 runs a day is good enough. 5 was usually my standard amount per day.
6. Bring enough supplies. For warriors and rogues this is the easiest part all you need is food. For everyone else youll need food and water. For hunters youll need all the above AND ammo. I would bring 5000 rounds.
7. Make the least trips back to Lights Hope Chapel. Even with a riding crop the ride to the service entrance is decently long so runnin back to camp every run sux. I never left the instance except to reset it.
8. Make the most out of your inventory. Any bag that can be replaced with a 20 slotter do it, or at least 18 slot bags. For hunters warlocks etc that need a soul bag or ammo pouch bigger storage bags is a must.
9. Stay in "Man Mode". What I mean by this is treat this place with respect, its an instance just like karazhan only easier. Keep in mind back in the day this instance was a 10 man raid. If you pull too many mobs they will OWN You. Even when having fun treat these runs just like your weekly BC raids. Enjoy them but when its time for business "Man Mode".
10. Spec properly. Some classes and / or specs will have problems soloing this place and while its not always a good move to change your spec JUST for this instance make sure you are getting the most out of your spec and youll own it. My experience was try as I might I never could down the baron solo as a 41 pt marksman / survival hunter. Went Beast Mastery and it changed. For me I wanted to try the spec anyway and this was a good chance to test it PVE.
------------ What to Do -------------
Provided youve met the above suggestions you wont have to fight the first 3 big groups of undead just watch your agro to the first gate. After awhile running a certain pattern became second nature. Open the gate and proceed to the next gate. Open this and now the fun begins.
If you are a druid or rogue goin from boss to boss should be boring for you as you can move while stealthed. Next up is hunters who can play dodge the mob games goin from boss to boss and hitting Feign Death if they eff up on a pull. Tied with hunters would be mages with invisbility and blink.
Ghouls in the instance can see you stealthed or invisible and so can eye of naxx. Warriors, Paladins, Shamans, Warlocks, Priests will have to play mob dodge.
Make your way to the left as you open the second gate and zip across the street avoiding bats. The side of the street is your friend. Even if you hit a crate with bugs , rats or poison it wont kill you although it can be annoying. IF it comes down to stepping on a crate vs agroing mobs in the street go for the lesser of the 2 evils. You should now be down the street and across the street is the Spider Boss Nerub'Nekan. Time your run once again and run up to the middle of his staircase. If you are paranoid kill anything in the middle of the street until you get a "feel" for the mobs and when they can agro you.
As a hunter this fight was a lil wild cause I couldnt always keep range on him and had to get in minimum firing distance which sucked because he likes to run at you when he webs your pet. Melee classes shouldnt worry about this just run up the stairs and whoop his ass. Mages might have a problem with this fight as you have no one to hold agro or start agro except frost mage elemental which wont last long. I suggest Potions of healing and lots of stamina for mages.
Notes on Nerub'Enkan :
1. Hits hard for his level
2. Summons annoying adds
3. Webs you where you cant cast spells. Casters MAY have to clear more of the street than other classes so they can play run around games.
4. Sometimes gets a stupid hair up his ass and will run into the mobs on the side of the street which will result in you dying from all the shit he agros. IF this happens and you arent a rogue or hunter take out as many mobs that he agroed as you can in case it happens again.
5/ Cannot be stunned or incapacitated
Once hes defeated proceed inside the Ziggaraut and kill the 5 easy mobs. Then come back out and make your way to the second boss Avoiding mobs. It can be tricky and you may have to smash a few to keep from a bad wipe.
Alternative method to get to Baroness : I would bring 20 lesser invisible and 20 invisible pots with me, turn on aspcet of the cheetah and run in the middle of the street and get as close as I could to the wall where you get the blacksmith plan from the summonable skeleton. Saves time but be warned if you run into an eye of naxx and arent a rogue or hunter youre screwed cause you cant see how much you agored until you get hit ( which you also cant see coming due to changes in the way invisibility works )
Coming soon Ill write what I did for the next boss in my in depth article.
Part 2 from Raygar
Ok continuing my last post about farming for the mount its time for the next part. Keep in mind this was written by me and my methods with my gear ( Level 70 beast master hunter with all epics.
Once you slip your way to the Baroness, it should be cake. This is by far one of the easiest bosses to solo, provided your gear is good.
Baroness Anastari :
1. Uses shadow attacks at range and curses you.
2. Sometimes depending on how you assault her will get the stupid hair and run into the street and agro the crap on the side.
3. CC doesnt work to my knowledge, however Freezing Trap from hunters DOES work as I accidentally found out one day.
4. If you use ANY other form of help except yourself ( friends helping, minions, pets, trinket summon adds) Theres a chance someone will get mind controlled. This prolongs the fight and sometimes ends up bad. You get Mind controlled for 2 mins unless your partner beats you down which is hard if you already have them outgeared. You get 100% increased damage to. So soloing this boss means no pet or anything else. I even once got Mind controlled from using a snake trap.
What to do :
If you are a hunter or caster get to your minimum range ( hunters ) and casters stay out of melee range and blast away. If you start losing too much health time a bandage between her casts. Theres a good chance you will resist the spell anyway due to your level.
After you drop her go in and clear out the Ziggaraut and proceed to the next part of the instance.
Now down the street onto Maleki the Palid is a tricky route. What I did was as you face down the street towards the next boss, hug the wall on the right until your shoulder scrapes it. You will be dangerously close to the 3 ghouls. Keep in mind Gargoyles are still patting up and down the street.
Its hard at first but as a 70 you can do it. Sometimes you will accidentally pull. For rogues and hunters just vanish or feign death out if you pull. Any other class will have to fight. If you want to be on the safe side kill these mobs before proceeding. I never had to cause of class ability.
Note invisible potions and stealth are not a good idea here unless you have Master of Deception for rogues. The ghouls see invisible and stealthed things.
Down the alley way of the street here there is a safe nook a 70 can stand in and watch for pats. Use this wisely. Its a good break spot especially if you had to fight the mobs a moment ago. Once you are ready to go take the ghoul on the right ( the single one ) and take him out. Make sure you zerg it quickly or pull it to the side of wall where he originally starts in case a pat comes by.
Rockwing Gargoyles are melee attackers
Rockwing Screechers are casters that will FEAR you.
Once you dispatch the single ghoul make your to the Maleki the Palid.
I will continue my article for Maleki soon!
Part 3
After you slip by the rough spot you will once again have to play dodge the mob games. As stated earlier if it comes down to it pick the lesser of two evils even if it means youll die.
Hunters can Feign , Rogues and Druids got it made. Mages should be ok with well timed blinks and invisibility. Make your way to the bottom of Maleki's Stairs. You will see 3 mobs. These cannot be skipped and must be taken out. Otherwise when you agro Maleki they will also get in it.
Maleki The Palid
1. Uses Frost Magic
2. Icy Tomb ( you cant move )
3. Has annoying beams that drain you.
Other than that hes not too hard to beat. Once hes dead go in the Zig and take out the mobs there .
You will now proceed to the Abomination Gate Area. This part requires dodging mobs again all in the street as before. What I did was once again Aspect of Cheetah and invis pot and run to the gate.
Also you will see an optional boss near the gate , Magistrate Barthalas. You DONT have to kill him if you dont want to. All he was for me was someone holding an extra Large Brilliant Shard. Sometimes I would kill him mostly though I would skip.
At this point the Gate to the Barons Lair Area should be open. If it isnt then it means you skipped clearing a Ziggaraut from one of the previous bosses. Dont worry if you missed some just go back and get em. It sux to play dodge the mob in the street but even I after gettin a pattern down of running the place sometimes would miss a mob. Especially one that Evaded and reset in the Zig so watch it.
IF you must fight the Magistrate Consider this.
1. Tank and Spank boss
2. For his level hits hard
3. On par with nerub the Spider Boss in toughness
4. Sometimes gives you a super uppercut that can knock you into mobs so keep your back to the wall.
5. What seperates him from the Spider is he CAN be stunned, Hammer of Justice, Intimidation, Cheap Shot etc.
To be Continued.
Part 4
Hey once again this is Raygar from Eredar contiuing my formula for farming the mount.
Once you get here its actually quite easy provided your gear is good and you dont pull too many fat boys.
The Gauntlet :
Most 70s except prot specced players should be able to zerg these down pretty quickly. For prot fight all mobs in a zone of your choice , I would pick the back of the gate once it closes.
This event starts when you pull the first Abomination. The gate behind you closes and its a Gauntlet. Abominations will continue to file in until all dead. Once you thin their numbers down a few remain in the courtyard to the barons room.
Theres two types of Abominations here.
1 is a darker color and spits poison and sometimes hits you with slowing poison the other type spits out lil slime adds and when it dies releases 5 slime adds. Dont underestimate the slimes they actually can hurt if you dont take em out quick enough.
Casters MAY have mana problems if the pace gets too high so be sure to drink after every 1 or 2 fights.
After you defeat all the abominations the boss of them , Rammstein comes out.
Rammstein the Gorger :
1. Hits very hard for his level
2. Can be stunned but not incapacitated or slowed
3. Has a knock back ability
After words the far gate on the side wall opens and a horde of easy to kill mobs come out. Keep in mind they dont hit hard and have alot of hp but theres ALOT of them.
Whatever aoe ability your class has here its time to break it out. In my case I used exploding trap and the various crates of holy water lying around the courtyard. Safe boxes are marked with a Red Cross. Others are sometimes safe but i didnt bother with them. Collect the water from the 3 red cross boxes in the instance should be enough. You can choose to loot the boxes before or after the hordes of mobs that rush out.
After this and at a certain time the Barons Black Guard come out. These are 5 elite skeletal warriors. Not too hard to kill at 70 but hit a lil hard compared to their level too. Warriors and paladins and druids might fall asleep when they are tankin em.
I used frost traps and snake traps here.
Finally the moment you all been waiting for is next. Ill keep you posted!
To be contuned.
First of all Grats to all people that have recently gotten this drop, and to the nice guy Thetrain from Epic above. Yes niceness does payoff and hes lucky to have a guild that would PASS on this.
Finally,
Part 5 : Baron Rivendare
As of this post I havnt ran baron since 2.3 came out but I am gonna try it. I respeced aim shot for pvp and lost a lil bit in my survival tree. Most Noteably the Clever Traps talent so I dont know how effective my traps are until I get back in there :P.
As you enter make sure you have pets on PASSIVE or else the shadow damage you take from entering barons room will cause your pet to attack and you may not be ready for the fight.
Make your way into the barons room and head to the left ( or right, most go left ) to the pile of bones in the back of the room. If you are takin ticks of shadow damage you are too close to the baron. This is prefight.
Engage : I dont know what a mage can do here to be honest. They probably have the most challenge as they have to do the dance games.
Melee of course will be on him takin shadow damage as well.
For me I pre set an explosive trap just to the left of the baron. Waited for trap to cool down then engaged.
Misdirected the pet , hit my AP trinket and hit Bestial Wrath. Once pet engaged melee on the baron I opened fire with all cool downs.
The first wave of skeletons that come head for the pet and hit the exploding trap which naturally brought them right to me into ANOTHER exploding trap which took em out.
Every few seconds I used mend pet. The next wave of skeletons that come usually spawn and run right at me now and I throw holy water on em.
Baron is pretty low hp at this time and mostly I took him down. Should a third wave or so come out I would alternate with holy water and exploding trap.
Baron Rivendare :
1. Does decent damage for his level.
2. Has an unholy aura that AOE damages with shadow damage.
3. Summons adds which fight for him and attack you / pet until he casts Death Pact on them which gives him life back for each skeleton sacked depending on its remaining health
4. Throws 1k+ Shadow Bolts
5. Hits pet / you with Mortal Strike
The biggest trick to this boss is gettin the skeletons down ASAP.
Good luck to all farming for it and keep trying!
Post Note : Im actually gonna go back in and farm the place some more for the Epic 2 Handed Sword :P just to have it.
This is Raygar from Eredar server. Continuing my tale of the sword baron drops to go with the mount just cause :D.
So i go to farm the baron sword since I got the mount and in an incredible stroke of luck i got the Baron Mount AGAIN! LOL Merry Christmas.
You can see me looting the mount and holding it AND the original mount in my bag...:P

I want to just stick it up the WAH and just swing it at people
in my frusteration.
I'm a druid.
We can use daggers for some reason, but not swords.
I mean, what, would we pick up a sword and have it burn us?
Are Swords the Cat nip of druids?
Damn it.
Also, to all you asses who keep saying "the droprate is low, it'll never drop," WE GET IT. We're not doing this because we think it'll drop every time. We're gambling our time, we're playing the shots, So EFF you asses who are negative to us people who partake in the gambling of the Baron.
I can't wait for the day to link my mount in guild, link it to the haters, the disbelievers, and my guild. At this point, it is no longer a mount, but a badge.
A badge of insanity.
By the way, it still drops, I message a GM.
The Argent Dawn doesn't effect it.
It's random.
The Droprate is low.
You need decent gear to solo this.
There's no way you can trick the loot system.
Pick up enchanting if you're gonna do the full monty. Don't be like "OH BUT I'VE WORKED SO HARD LEVELING UP THIS PROFFESION"
I did the math. In the runs I did BEFORE I did enchanting, I lost out on roughly 10k gold. If I had done enchanting, I'd be that much richer. And you can be even richer depending on the server. So, stop being an ass, and power level Enchanting to 225. How sweet will it be to re-level, say, mining, but this time on the RAREST item in the game.
And finally, DO NOT GIVE UP. Do not give in to the negative comments, because if you do this, you will be slammed with ONLY that. I'm not saying you will get the mount, but just don't give up.
There's a level of insanity you go through though.
From 70-90, you want to stop. You hate the game, you hate your life, you want to jump off a bridge and ride a pegasus in the after life.
From run 190-199 You're depressed and sad.
Run 200-220, each run is tense (If you've followed the legacy of the fine Baron Raygar)
Run 280-300, you're in shock that you're still doing it.
Somewhere along that line of runs, something clicks. Once you learn the instance, all the tricks of the trade, you find yourself really enjoying running it. Like, during my break period, I was just running around on the Orgrimmar bank, wasting time. What I could have been doing in that time is making a bunch of money, shooting towards the mount, and listening to say, a radio show.
Speaking of which, MAKE A PLAYLIST OF THE SONGS YOU LIKE.
This will be one of the LIFEBLOODS of you running this instance.
For about 200 runs I did catchy music.
For the next 50, I found some catchy rap.
Then, for the next 50 or more, I've been listening to the Opie and Anthony show.
And it just increases the experience of running this instance by that much.
I know my post is long, but it's been needed to be said. I hope all of you get this mount, because you've all worked for it.
But not the ninja's.
I hope you die alone and screaming.
The only sword I've gotten was on run 336.
I'm thinking/praying/hoping/pleading it drops on run 672, 336 runs after getting the sword.
Oh, let me tell you people something.
Never, ever think the horse will drop "this run."
Don't think it'll drop "the next run."
Don't say "I'm feeling it tonight."
Don't predict it'll drop before 300, or 600 runs.
It won't.
Ignore all superstitions. They only crush your hope more.
Just keep running it until you get it.
Because then, and only then, can you admit that the little bunny foot that somehow found it's way up your ass was the cause of the mount to drop.
If your exhalted with argent dawn then it increases your chances or the mount to drop by 20% i think!
Yeah and I think you're full of shit.
oh look, i gots teh mount!!
no i'm just kidding... :< i wish i had it by now though...
keep farming everyone :D
"this is ment to be farmed by the people who wants this mount the most"
No, it's made to frustrate stupid people who don't understand probability. I just read through a couple pages of "I heard you have to be AD exalted and have your dawnstone equipped and complete the run in < 45 minutes for the mount to drop" and laughed. Can't wait to get home and sit on my Deathcharger in Ironforge while you tards spend day after day farming a level 60 instance instead of actually enjoying the game.
FAIL.
I agree totally, for you to say something like that is pathetic and low, you got lucky getting that mount and to act like your something special is bullshit. If i could ask blizzard for one thing it would be to remove that mount from your ownership, you greedy, self righteous prick. ALSO farming stratholme isn't bad, because if you have taken up chanting you can make a heap of cash, for epic flyer etc which makes your game more enjoyable.
Do us all a favor, take your stupid e-peen flex else where, trailer trash.

After 230 runs my Deathchargers Drops ! I'm really happy this night. I have to say thanks to this thread because many of those posts gave me power to don't give up. That was the phrase that was in my mind all the time: "dont' give up". Also have to say a thanks to my DE partner Heiler who did a lot of runs with me, including the one where it drops. I gave to him as a gift one of the orb of deceptions that i got in Strat.
Average Time: 20-23 min per run
Record Time: Me, Heiler and a hunter: 13 min
Gold: Around 15-20k (3 epics, 2 orbs of deception, tons of boe blues and DE stuff)
For those that will say that im an Undead and would be easier to buy a plain skelly horse i dont care. This is THE UNDEAD MOUNT and i dream with it since my first day in wow.

Hi Cacti,
I read all of your posts when i was farming my horse lol !
Well about your theory i could not agree. If u use the logic most of the people who owns this mount got it by farm since the real low drop reate (of course we can find the luck bastards getting it by "accident" in the #1 run).
So, If they are farming, they are doing speed runs and normaly they will get it under the 45 min mark. I saw a lot of screenshots with Ysida alive during the loot, including mine:
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/9177/lootscreenhq5.jpg
The loot creation is done while the #1 char enter in the instance, on that time the mobs are created with their loots based on their loot table(except world drops where i think is generated on a more dynamic way).
The big secret is how the server algorithm randomize and choose them. We know that there isnt an algorithm that can create perfect random numbers/choices. We will aways find pseudo-random choices. To make those choices real close to a random choice normaly they use time-stamps on the seed that will generate the random numbers/choices. I also saw a blue post on worldofraids where the GM said that timestamp is involved on loot creation (the gm post some explanations after 4 warglaives drops on the same guild).
Anyways, dont give up. i give u my best wishes and i hope to see u driving the blue horse someday.
Regards.

Hello my fellow Asylum Escapees,
This is going to be a somber post since it's going to be my last one ever and- OH WHAT THE HELL
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO HAVE GOTTEN THE MOUNT IN THE PAST FEW DAYS!
Shadowsnake, I highly congratulate you on your success. When I read your post just last night, I pounded my fist and went "YES!" for you. No one could see it except myself, but I hope you felt me.
So before I talk all about me, lets talk about the drop rate increase. For some reason, people think that that is bad. Let me tell you, ITS NOT BAD AT ALL. I would not wish the grind that I went through on anyone. It wasn't fun, it wasn't exciting, it was vigorous and hard and long and depressing. To all those who are saying that the increase was a slap in the face, you obviously haven't done Stratholme very much. This is like a cold iccee on a summer's day! Now that it dropped for me, I never, ever, EVER have to step into that crazy place again.
It's over.
However, all the more reason for YOU, who ever is reading this, to go farm it! Sure the droprate has been increased, but why not go experiance one of the many secret phenomena that can be found in WoW? And, get a cool looking horse to boot!
--
But now, friends, it's over. Finally, after a year of farming and 10 months of talking with all the amazing people I've met through thottbot.
From the Mannoroth people, I'd like to thank Shikia for all the runs he did with me, Solaeran for all the runs he did with me, Zhouu for all the runs he did with me, Dysfunction for all the runs he did with me, Sicc for a couple runs he did with me, the random puggers of Undeadx, that guy with the warglaive, thanks for doing those couple runs with me.
And from the Thottbot Asylum, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for posting your stories and supporting me and inspiring me through my toughest of times. I have read each and every post on this forum, and each one was thought over. I wish I could all take you out to dinner and we could talk about our crazy farming experience.
It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you, and I will never forget our crazy antics. Sure the baron mount has been increased, but the memories forged through our crazy little experiances are unique, and above all, the most cherished.
Thank you all,
Cacti from Mannororth-US.

The Deathcharger has a 1% drop rate off of Baron Rivendare as of patch 3.0.2. Every time you kill the Baron, the drop rate will still be 1%.
HOWEVER...
The more you kill the Baron, the higher your chances are of seeing it drop.
You have a 40% chance of seeing it drop by your 50th kill.
... 52% chance by your 75th kill.
... 63% chance by your 100th kill.
... 77% chance by your 150th kill.
... 86% chance by your 200th kill.
... 95% chance by your 300th kill.
... 99% chance by your 475th kill.
This is using the formula 1-(.99)^n where n=the number of runs.
In probability, you can NEVER reach 100%, so there is that slim, slim chance that you will be one of those people who runs this place an infinite number of times and never sees the mount. But that actually happening is next to impossible (unless you stop running Stratholme, in which case you WON'T see it drop).
The drop rate and the probability of you seeing it by a given kill are two different things and should not be confused with one another.

every single damn time i save this skank Ysida.... and for what? she doesnt even say thank you ! so .. i had to do this :
This is for everyone still farming , GL.
So here's my long, long story of baron mount farming, hoping to get it soon, and posting here, again, prolly my 4th or 5th post, for luck. It didn't work previously. But here goes:
I have started playing my Night Elf druid long long ago before most of the nowaday players didn't even start. It was November 2005, after playing a Tauren hunter from start of WoW till then. I got bored of tauren and hunter was too easy, I wanted something diffrent. So I rolled alliance. In mid-February, I had dinged 60.
Back then, mounts were hard to get, and the problem of who sees this or the zulian tigers passes to the ones without mount existed, but I was already working on my epic mount, and because I wanted to do more than your average person, I was aiming for the Stormwind horse. So I shared my time between getting the Wildheart gear, only semi-feral gear out there in that day apart from the PvP sets, and getting runecloth for Stormwind. By doing Baron runs, I filled both. I had started running Baron when I was nearly friendly with Argent Dawn, as i used WPL to lvl 59-60.
Friendly -> Bit into Honored AD:
Took me 122 Baron runs, I had mobinfo back then, to get my Wildheart pants. Baron loved me a lot since then, clearly. Sometime in these runs I had a guy talk about baron's mythical mount, so I decided to check it out, and the moment I saw it, I wanted it.
Honored -> Honored, run 122 - ~150
I kept running Baron even after I got the pants, trying the 45 run and just going in for the runecloth. By this time I had already gotten my stormwind steed and was alternating between baron runs and Winterspring farming for the saber. Yes, I was a mount collector back when you got nothing except the need to buy more bank slots from it.
Honored -> Revered, run ~150 - ~170
By this time, Burning crusade kicked in, so we all leveled. Before you say that omg I only did 150 runs pre-bc, I had a life then, and finding 5 ppl to run Baron with and take me as feral druid was pain in the ahem.
Anyway, when I dinged 68, me and my boyfriend, holy paladin, wanted to see if we could manage this instance. With a lot of wipes, boredom, bit AD rep and no 45's, we managed 20 or 21 runs till dinged 70.
Gear break for 2 months, got part of my arena gear, some rep gear, some instance gear.
Revered -> Revered, run ~170 - ~190
When you hit revered, you get considerably less rep from mobs as a 60. The mobs were grey for me, I had dumped the AD trinket ages ago, somewhere after my 120th run, so the only rep I got from these runs were around 150 from bosses, 25 the 3 and 50 or 75 on baron, depending on what lvl he spawned. Me and my boyfriend ran this and we never managed 45 with my gear, so no rep from Ysilda.
Gear break for 2 months, arena season 1 became honor buyable, I finished getting it. No, I don't play hardcore, I didn't like arena and anyway at this time I had rerolled a draenei priest and a blood elf warlock and was only playing my druid for the baron horse.
Revered -> Exalted, strike 2, run ~190 - run ~600+
Since autumn/winter 2007 I kept running baron on a daily basis, got from bit into revered into fully exalted, my bf got from bit into honored to halway revered only from the rep you get from killing the 4 bosses. No stone turn ins. Nothing.
With average of 2 runs per day, as sometimes we only ran once, sometimes we ran 6 times in a row, I lived all my winter 2007-winter 2008 in baron runs. In time, we mastered the fastest route, fastest pull sequence, etc, so our runs dropped to 20 minutes from 1 hour. This way we managed more per day, after I had dinged exalted AD.
August 2008 - patch 3.0
I kept running baron, and when all the rumours that he will be taken out in wotlk struck in, I felt totally.. crap.. I can say I was about to go delete my druid and screw WoW. The wintersaber and rep mounts had become much easier to get something like 2 or 3 patches after I got them, so after having the honor of being the only one with Wintersaber and Stormwind horse as a night elf on my server, everyone started strolling around IF on one. And by this time, after running Strat for almost 3 years, getting that horse became a matter of me versus baron, having something special.. i left that behind long ago, now I just wanted the horse.
patch 3.0 - present
My boyfriend said he's bored of running baron with me, so after the droprate got buffed, I started soloing baron. only 30 runs so far, I concentrated more on my blood elf, and anyway, I doubt that if i didn't get it in 3 years, I'll miraculously get it now.
Anyway, trying it again today after maintenance.
Why?
-I've busted the myth where it says that if you do 45 it has 100%/10%/1% chance compared to .01% chance to drop. Most my runs have been 45 after I mastered it, nothing.
-I've busted the myth where it says that if you are AD exalted, the drop is 50%. I ran over 400 times after exalted, my baron activity increased with summer holidays, boredom and AD exalted, I think most my baron runs were after exalted, and nothing.
-I never tried the myth with counting. I never count. When I saw that baron took 122 runs to decide to give me one item that has 20% droprate, I decided I give up on counting runs at him. At some point I had mobinfo for it, but it always got reseted on patches.
-Number of runs? I don't know. Somewhere over 600 for sure. Somewhere over 1000? I don't know. Some were solo, some were with my boyfriend, some were with pugs at 60. I lost track. I never cared. I learnt that when you count for something, it takes longer. I just lived my life in Strat and hoped, helplessly.
-Gold? Hell yes. From baron runs, I paid my epic flying skill, enchants, a 29 twink's gear (around 500-600 gold), a 19's twink gear (around 400 gold), powerlvling jewelcrafting on my draenei priest (300-350 gems cost somewhere between 5 gold and 50 g on my server, go make the maths), powerlvling enchanting on my boyfriend's human mage (he was stuck at eternal essences and illusion dusts. A lot of them came from de'ing baron greens I sent to him, but also some I got from ah at 25 g / piece), buying 53 mounts before mount collecting was implemented in achievements, buying boe epics for my alts, buying Cenarion Hippogryph on my main and also getting from halway revered to exalted with 170 coilfang armaments, which go for 10-11 g on my server. I also paid one epic flying skill for my alt and 2 epic flying skills for my boyfriend's chars as a gift. How much would I say? over 25000 gold. And I'm not even an enchanter. I can imagine the profit with being one.
-Reputation? Ad was full, and I used all the runecloth to get 21k rep with Exodar, 9k rep with Ironforge. Rest runecloth went to AH. Ye, I even had extra, imagine that.
-Mount or runeblade? None. Nothing. Zero. But I won't give up. As i said, it's already a personal thing between me and baron.
-Most annoying part? seeing all the lucky kids that play gnomes stroll around on it saying OMG I GOT IT ON MY 2nD RUN HGASGSDGSA. Besides, the 2 people on my realm that had it pre-bc went like this: one quit, a dwarf hunter, and one sold his account, a human priest. Quite a tease.
-Nicest quote from people? 'If you keep trying, I'm sure one day you will be able to add that elusive steed as the centerpart of your collection' - a gamemaster, pre-bc.
-Worst quote from people? 'That mount is more important to you than me.' Yes, it was hard sometimes. really hard.. Specially with my luck.
-Most common quote from people? 'Omg Wind not baron again' - lot of guildmates / random mates over the 3 years.
-Most realistic quote? 'Dude, I quit wow 2 years ago and you were running baron. now i started again and you're still running baron. wtf?' - old guildmate
I only have 1 more myth to bust. See, in 2 years, I never managed to log on WoW and go baron first run anyone does after a server restart/maintenance. I either was busy with school, job, net down, didn't find people, was bored, couldnt be bothered, etc. Now, after today's maintenance, I'm going to try that out.
Maybe it'll drop.
Maybe, like with every other myth regarding this horse, it's just pure bull.
I'll keep you updated if you're interested in it. Maybe one day I'll join the Hall of Fame of people that grinded they life off for this mount and finally got it after a drop chance increase. I don't care if everyone will have it as long as I have it. It's just annoying to see others have it after 2 or 10 runs after you ran it for all your wow playtime.
Oh well

Ok, so after reading all these comments I became really encouraged to try farming Baron for this mount. I have always wanted it since pre-BC and all the times I had ever run Strat I had never even seen it drop :(
I began farming about 4 days ago and in that time I would run Strat around 10 - 15 times each day.
I was prepared for the worst! You have to expect that you will be in there a really long time to keep from going crazy seeing the Tunic of the Crescent Moon drop everytime!
What really inspired me were the comments where people had to run it around 251 - 289 times! As well as those of you who posted pics of it dropping, especially the pics that had the statistics open to show what number run it dropped on :D
If it wasn't for you guys I probably would have given up.
Last night, however, on run # 61 (post patch) I got extremely lucky to have the mount finally drop!!! I couldn't believe it!!
All I can say is hang in there and NEVER EVER give up! A good way to look at it is to not expect the mount to drop but just worry about getting your Baron kill count to the highest number possible!! The higher the number of runs the better your chances!! Set a goal and slightly increase it each time you reach it. This worked for me and it can help ease the repetitive madness :D
61 RUNS POST PATCH AND THE MOUNT IS MINE :DDDD
NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON THIS DREAM, IT WILL DROP EVENTUALLY!!!
THANKS TO ALL THE ENCOURAGING COMMENTS THAT KEPT ME GOING!!!!
WOOT!!!
Off topic..but does anyone know of any WoW items with more comments on thottbot than this?
This is bullshit, or should I say flaming undead horse shit.
300 runs, no mount or sword.
One thing would make this less of a pain in the ass would be a stack % bonus, par say.
This as an example:
Bob kills baron Rivendare 100 times with the horse at a 1% drop chance.
Bob's chance to have the mount drop increases 1% on kill 101.
I'd love that system, would make this a lot less tedious.
Oh and those that say that it wouldn't be chance if they added the stack bonus, fuck you, trying running this shithole 300+ and being disappointed 300 times.
Madness........THIS IS STRATHOLME /Kicks baron rivendare off his mount and into a pit
cant kill my morale and determination Blizz XD
Ok started farming this mount to get on my druid and after the 20th run DUN DUN DUUUUN....sword.....wtf srsly??
On the 120 run going beserk.
Dont give in people...you might get it from the 1st or 200 time but never loose hope!
