The pants, gloves, and boots are item level 18, which means they are as good as a level 18 character would have on average. They only require your character to be level 13 to actually wear however. The stat box will give you both levels.

With my Lv 32 Warrior on Al'Akir ( before I deleted her and started on Defias Brotherhood ) could easily solo Rhak'Zor.
It's not hard to kill him nor patrols. Just make sure you have some good healing potions and you'll make it.
I could even solo Mr. Smite easily.
However, this is tricky. This involves you dying :P
Solo Van Cleef as Lv. 30-32 Warrior:
1. Get a GREAT 2h Weapon ( eg. Archanic Defender ).
2. "Buff" yourself withwhatever you might have. Or skip to point 3:
3. Charge in, as soon as your in "None shall harm the brotherhood!", activate Retaliation and keep pumping all your attacks on Van Cleef, such as Heroic Strike.. No, only use Heroic Strike and Rend =P All bodyguards that hits you will make you retaliate on Cleef and his hits, obviously makes you retaliate back on him. When getting pounded and such, if you don't get enough rage ( unlikely ) use Bloodrage.
4. Van Cleef dies, QUICKLY loot his dead body and drink a potion IF you already havn't. Now, either stand and fight and hope you win, or flee, or die. Either way, Cleef is dead.

How to get to Westfall / Deadmines as Horde:
1. Zeppelin to Grom'Gol base camp
2. Swim west out next to, but not to close to Vile Reef.
3. Swim North to the Mountains and adjust your way to Westfall.. Without Drowning from airless or Fatigue.. Or death because you thought that elite spawn of Hakkar shark was so cute :P

If you plan on being a WSG 10-19 specced "twink", then this is the armor you want to go for. Otherwise, it's just not worth it, as by the time you find the whole set you'll be at a level that you can get much better armor, anyway.
No i think that the Fang set is the best lvl 19 twink set.
tommalimash no way are you nuts strength does not up attack on rogues as much as agility and actually agility benefits crit more than other classes ive tried adding agil to other classes the reason it seems its not adding as much is cause rogues agil goes down every level you obviously are a warrior player not a rogue.

why should it be alliance only? yes, all the parts can be found in an instance found in alliance territory, but lets face it.. those defias arnt really alliance either :P

do NOT get firey enchants on ur cruel barbs get 2 15 agi's or 1 15 agi and a frost the slowing really helps but i reccomend u getting 2 15 agis on duel CB's my crit chance is 37% all my gear has agi enchants on it even my mask witch is only good for enchants i crit nearly every hit and i also crit 120+ damage

Best piece is the chest but you get a roughly equivalent one for turning in Van Cleef's head. The other pieces are trash and are only worth the overall combined bonus if you get the whole set; however, I dont know anyone who ever got the whole set without leveling out of the bracket. By the time you get the set it is old, weak gear.

I've been into VC probably eight times (all PUGs), and I've only had two runs that were actually plesent. I've also had two where someone messed up at the dock (with the Tauren), caused a wipe, called everyone else noobs and left the group. The other two times were just a pain. People not waiting for the healer to regain mana, sloppy pulls, and just general noobishness.

Yes, yes if you want to waste literally anything up to a thousand or more gold pieces on your level 19, battlegrounds armour set then sure. Go for it. Buy all of that.
If not - and like a sizeable portion of WoW's playerbase - you can't afford, or don't want, to pay 250g+ for Assassin's Blade, 80 - 90g+ on Feet of the Lynx, 150g+ on Shadowfang, etc; then the Blackened Defias Set is great.
The chestpiece is essentially free to anyone with effort and I picked the rest up on the Auction House of Turalyon for about 1.8gp total. I added a pair of those kinky black shoulders for an additional 30s. I'll run DMs a few more times to get a Cruel Barb (or two!) and buy a cheapo dagger (Pearl Handled isn't bad) to WeaponQuickSwap in for my ambushing.
Net cost? After a cloak and a bit of jewelry, about 7g. And, as I was whooping your "twink" butts with a character full of fairly average green equipment, I'll continue to do so with a new rogue with the Blackened Defias set. You DON'T need all the best equipment to win at WSG. You need to know what you're doing in PvP.

I have a love-hate relationship with DM. I can solo it and it takes me about and hour and I pick up everything (I'm leveling all my RAF toon's first aid and the one miner I have with all the cloth and ore drops).
Been running it with my 42nd level hunter and cat, he's nothing special. decent armor, good bow with scope and a +7 enchant on a +10 agil/stam 2 handed sword. He's died once when the cat got away and agro'd a whole group and dragged them back to me while I was fighting 4 goblins on the dock.
Basically trying to equip a couple of WSG 10-19s to try my hand at battlegrounds.
I have probably run DM like 12-15 times in the last couple of days. twice I dragged my RAF (follow mode while multiboxing) while I cleared for a couple of paladins to get their quests. The druid got Thief's blade from Smite and the pike from Greenskin, at least he got the chest piece. The rogue got the hammer and the Axe, though he finally got Cruel Barb after getting the chest piece on the first run. At this point, I summon the rogue, sit him at the entrance, and clear to just before Smite. go get the rogue, and clear the rest. I've only had to go H2H with Smite and VC just once in all those runs. I'll probably start running the druid through WC soon. I'm loving the "summon a friend" feature of RAF, especially after getting ganked in the barrens a bunch of times at level 16.
The 3 other greens (gloves, boots, leggings) are almost not dropping at all. When they do drop, I've gotten leggings 2x in one run, boots 2x in one run. Can't get the gloves to drop. And oddly, Miner Johnson drops some good stuff, but he's only in the runs about 30% of the time.

All I have to say is meh. This set is so, so I mean its not like ZOMGWTF IMA PWN U IN FACE WIT DEFIAS SET!!~!!!11!!, but its not so crap that it makes your eyes explode thinking about the thought process required to make this. I mean seriously who needs +5 arc resistance and +1 to daggers at that lvl? But hey if you absouloutley can not find anything better in the AH which you should be able to find BETTER individual pieces then what the hey, go for it. Horde do not painc your not missing out on anything spectacular.

this is very simple to get for a lowbie if u have a 40 up. just get the 4 BoE drops and buy a few runs until chestpiece comes. the easist way for a 50 up hunter to do VC is get by the mine cart at the very beggining,use eyes of the beast get your pet to aggro every thing up to the fat ogre with hammer and put him on stay at the gate, get out of eyes of the beast and your pet will be dismissed so call him back and he'll be at for health then put your explosive trap down right away put pet defensive once the people come runing and hit trap then use FD and let pet draw aggro use volley and start fighting when next trap is ready throw it down. repeat this in all rooms except for smelting room unless your 60+. very easy =) -Hantu orc hunter-Gurubashi

i have a friend in real life that has a human paladin he likes taking people through instances hes lvl 63 he can get all those dm miners and he wont die.....lets put it this way he can go through there and get everything to attack him and then he kills all of them and u get good xp and able to get drops easy without getting attacked...just listen to what he says and u will make it through dm
