Demons guard each portal. They, along with lesser infernals patrol the area. Try and close the portal when (the partrolling demons)have just moved away from the portal.

A level 39 demon will pass through the portal and immidiatly engage you in combat. Do not fight toe to toe unless you have three or more in your party. Soloist should fight while moving backwards (towards the road). Oh, and watch your back.

Don't let their high level or the fact that they are demons entice you into farming these guys. They are very stingy with their loot. 9 out of 10 times, they drop nothing.

Also, you can use the portals from like TEN FEET AWAY. The second you right click on them, step backwards. It takes a second to activate, so you'll be even further away.\

I killed one "for fun", and they do indeed hit harder and have more HP than normal lvl 38s.

  I just realized that you have to actually kill the demon to "banish" the portal, so bleh. I have no idea why you can right click the portal again after the demon appears. It just makes the center turn solid for a few seconds.

The demons guardians that pop out are level 39 or so. They have slightly higher than normal hps but they hit a good bit harder than a normal level 39, so keep that in mind.

This quest wasn't so bad. I was able to solo it today as a 35 Warlock. I made sure to kill the wandering Doomwarders and/or Infernals before hitting the portal. I also pulled the Portal Guardian a good distance away so the Burning Blade Summoner wouldn't beat me up. I didn't see any 39 portal guardians, only 38s. I tanked with pet with DOTs on, then drew the aggro onto myself when the guardian was about half-dead. When I got into trouble, I just feared him and bolted him to death.

The biggest problem were not the quest demons themselves, but the numerous alliance characters that were attempting to gank me.

find the portals with no one walkin near by, or wait for them to leave, then open and kill him. did this one killin only the portal guards that spawned when opened, easy enough

I did the same thing with my level 37 lock...enslaved the lesser infernals and send it to attack the portal demon and just finish it off. The enslavement spell lasts longer on the lesser infernals then on any of the other demons there.

The spawns are level 38 and their damage is almost like elite and hp almost like elite. Ifu can heal, its no problem, but for a class like rogue this is a challenge.

It's in the middle of the bottom half of the Desolace. Daemons are 38. And it's really possible to close one portal more and more.

Im just doing this with 35lvl shaman, 4/6 done, two potions used at all, i have died 0 times.

Solo-ed as a 35 mage. Bit challenging, but possible.
As a level 35 it is more trouble to clear the entire area than to just go ahead and activate the portal. So, run up to a portal, activate and run/blink away. You will not get aggro from the spawned portal demon. Once there are no patrols in the area, pull the demon. Once dead, the portal will be listed as closed.

Hate this quest. Did it solo with my 34 Shaman. My mana and life was dead after every fight. A tip is to search after Portals that
dont have any mobs near them.

this is do able as a level 36 shaman w/ enhancement, you just need to be careful and watch ur back. hall full HP and mana before each fight. shoot the portal from a distance, so he doesnt coem and attack you. then move back a bit, lay down a stoneskin, a couple lightning bolts. frost shock him. walk backwards until frost shock has regenerated. frost shock agin, while running forward: this way you will get a melee attack in and giv urself some ground. repeat until he is dead. make sure u font get mobbed bo other mobs. beware. he hits HARD.

not to hard, soloed most of it till found someone on it as well

watch out for those darn mages, they will pick you up 20-30feet away and start shottin.

kinda hard just watch ur back and clear each portal area of demons etc before you open it up. soloed as a lvl 37 hunter but i died once. good luck.

Soloed at level 33 as a hunter w/ a tank pet (scorpid) and tank talents (extra armor and HP). Make sure you keep the area clean or you'll get killed easily crowd control or no. Stack on your DoTs (fire trap and poison-glyph for poison shot helps) keep healing the pet and switch from hawk aspect to viper to keep mana in check. Took a little while, but was worth testing the limits.

You have to banish 6 portals in stead of 1, which thottbot says.

There are plenty of portal around, especially near the lord. So if one portal is too crowded then find another less guarded.
Level 39 mage.

I don't know what everyone is on about, I'm a 36 pally and had absolutely no problem with this quest. The demons are certainly nothing special and you surely do not need to try and fight while running away! As a matter of fact, I'm being ganked by 2 as I write this post.... hahaha and after all that they only brought me down 1/4 health.

35 Subtlety Rogue... no problems. Just make sure area is cleared, and be prepared to use your best skills.
