why the hell are you a pally if you get annoyed by A TANK THATS SUPPOSE TO TAKE HITS asking for a heal man pallies are not for you, if ur a healer an u see someone is in help an u dont help em than you just dont know how to use your player
You DO realize that not ALL warriors are tanks, right? Thats like saying all druids are resto rofl. Biggest idiotic cliche ever. In a group of 5; having a Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Priest, and say Druid; who do you use for your tank? Go on, tell me! The hunters pet. Thats what. Why? Because it isnt a human player, thats why! It sits and takes the damage so the rest can do what they need to do. If the warrior MUST take the agro from the hunters pet, they have the means to do so; but just because they can take a hit doesnt mean they should. I've never had an unsuccessful instance run as long as I carry a hunter along with me. Granted, if the warrior was a defense warr; then by all means, they should take the agro, and tank it out. Otherwise, theyre not meant for that, and should let something else hold.
Fury = DPS (like a glorified rogue that wears plate)
Arms = Heavy hitting
Defense = Tanking
Granted, this is a good warr set; as a Fury war, I take considerably more damage (however I deal twice as much as well); so the added strength and health definitely helps. Fury's all about 2 things; dealing as much DPS as possible, and maintaining your health as you do so (hense your Bloodthirst and bloodcraze abilities); the added health from the chance on hit is pretty helpful.

The pet?
Protection spec warriors whole game is based on pulling aggro - take the growl off the tiger and let it do some damage, sure, but if you take aggro off the warrior, you are removing his effectiveness -
and equal level I would rather have a warrior than a cat or a bear.
Other classes are able to tank if the need arises, usually because a warrior isnt around or the one that is isnt particularly good - but by the same token, I can technically DPS, but it's not the game - the game goes much quicker with me putting my shield in boss' mouths til they look at me while the hunter and the mage make with the fireworks from a safe distance behind. The paladins I run with heal and buff and support - played well they are invaluable (sadly, they also wear plate and thus start conversations like this one)
I think it's fine when people play with builds, try to do things differently - and if you're a couple levels higher than the instance you are in, it's a good laugher, but when it's tight? Warriors tank, Paladins mitigate combat -Paladins are good at a lot of things, Warriors? We are real good at getting beat on and letting everyone else do their jobs.
With that in mind, jobs, I would never think of rolling on Lightforge if a paladin was around, because that's a big goal for them - that armor is perfect for a paladin pretty much regardless of spec. Valor is much the same for a warrior, no matter your build it will help you. Sure, it would help the paladin too, but so would a fury warrior going after a pair of sweet crit spec mail gloves when there's a hunter in the party. The warrior CAN use them and it would help, but that's not an ideal fit. And while it would be fine for the player getting it, it would suck for the guy who lost out because someone was jumping commonly excepted lines.
Do what you like with your character, but try to think how it's going to affect someone else, too. I know, I know, sappy sentiment for World of Warcraft, but it doesnt hurt.

Yes the Valor set doesn't say 'For a Warrior'. Sure, there is nothing that says a Paladin shouldn't use it. But I think its fairly clear who it is intended for.
Everyone really gets a blue set from instances. I don't remember who gets what, but its basically one really cool instance drop set for everyone.
Lightforge is for Paladin. You can say it sucks and that you prefer Valor. Or that you think poorly of it, or whatever. But...it is indeed for Paladins.
Warriors shouldn't roll on Lightforge, and I don't know any who do. But if there isn't any paladin's then why not? The same goes for Valor. Its more intended for Warriors even if you want it.
I know at the end of game everyone really doesn't care and its perfectly intent with just getting more stuff, stuff stuff idea, since there isn't any more leveling. And the main reason you shouldn't roll cause its inconsiderate, not because you can't use it.
And everyone saying how this isn't a damage set for warriors. Well its not. We are tanks. Thats what we do, like it or not. And if you want a damage set, there is a very nice pvp set that you can get from gainning ranks in that. Which is more or less the same thing. But at the end of the day, you get a 1h weapon, a shield and you tank. That's it. That's your purpose in life, so to speak. So more or less get over it.

I find it amusing that Paladins are here DEBATING about how they should use this. Having seen Paladins roll this stuff away from Warriors, I have to say, you would get booted and blacklisted to the best of my ability for rolling this away from a warrior. Now, if the warrior PASSES, then hey its all yours, but, (key point here) SET PIECES SHOULD ALWAYS!!!! go to their respective class FIRST! Course I could understand why paladin would want Valor Helm, with the Ronald McDonald inspired Lightforge helm. Horrible, I liked the old graphic that the Scarlet Strat guys still use. But, anyway, Pallies, pass on the Valor as its not your set.

OK here i will explain it in a simple way for all paladins so they can understand.
Valor is usefull for ret paladins.-True. But LF is better for paladins overall. If a warrior and a paladin are on the same group, they discuss between each other who needs what. If the paladin says he will roll on the valor, you should just leave the group.
UNDER NO SURCOMSTANCES SHOULD A PALADIN ROLL ON VALOR IF THE WARRIOR NEED IT. THE PALADIN IS ONLY ALLOWED TO ROLL ON VALOR IF THE WARRIOR DOESN'T NEED IT, HAS IT, OR ALLOWS THE PALADIN TO ROLL ON IT!!
Fact: Valor is for warriors and LF is for paladins. Thats clear and thats simple to understand. Blizzard has clearly a warrior in their mind while making this set.

If you're fighting like a warrior, you are playing the wrong class.
'I realize I look like a priest, but I play more like a rogue.'
Crazy, right?
You arent a warrior. You are a paladin? Paladins are good, but they arent warriors - this is easy to notice as they have different names.
Neither is better, but one is better than the other at things.
I am a warrior. I am terrible at healing.
You are a Paladin, you are pretty good at that. You can be great! But not if you are slogging it out in the trenches trying to, what, out DPS? Or out aggro?
Because if you have a tank in the group and you are trying to take his aggro, you are going to kill everyone. If you are tanking and trying to out DPS someone? Everyone dies.
This is easy.
Paladins are great tanks if there are no warriors around and they are specced correctly. But that is not their strength - Paladins dont really have a strength, they do everything fairly well. This point seems to be lost on people - a Paladin is a complementary class, they are at their best in a group when they can easily augment the effectiveness of other party members; having a paladin around makes life much easier as long as the paladin understands that their role in most dungeons is support.
If you want the somewhat questionable glory of running into the middle of a room and having horrible monsters try to eat so that no one else bleeds, by all means start playing a warrior. It is gratifying in a strange way and I like it.
But if you want to really play your class well, read your abilities, look at the things you are good at and how you can better help your team and your guild.
In the meanwhile, if you are guilty about having stolen a suit of Valor from under the needful fingers of a warrior, deal with that particular shame on your own time. I would never take a piece of lightforge from a paladin.

I believe the belt is the easist piece to obtain, I'd put gloves next, followed by the boots, then the helm, the legs, the shoulders, the bracers (if you don't buy them : P ), and finally the chest. That's not actually the order I got them in, but I started at lvl 59, and only got the first few bits because I was the ONLY warrior in the groups I was in, and the ML just sent them to me, I was completely oblivious to the existance of these as a set. Any of these would be a huge problem for you to get a 55, and most would be impossible. The legs and the chest are the only two pieces that I didn't get on the first try, and now I've killed both the Baron and Drakk over a dozen times EACH without even seeing them drop. It's enough to make you a beliver in karma, if you weren't already. Good luck all!
Haha....okay...its funny you say that because the gloves and belt are the only pieces I haven't obtained...I have only been 60 for less then a week though as well...
Warth and Might are meant to be tanking gear, therefore you get better crit and DPS with valour.

This set is seriously warriors only. I am a paladin with 6/8 Lightforge and I can tell you that if you are a paladin, I don't care wtf you think your role is, you don't need valor, ESPECIALLY if there is a warrior in your group. Even if you are a protection or retribution spec pally, Lightforge is still better for you. Why? IT HAS INTELLECT! Plus it has everything else that valor has, including agility. It may not have as much strength or stamina, but that's obviously cause you don't need it as much as a warrior does. That bit of mana can really save your life in battle, giving you one more heal. Seriously, if you want valor, why didn't you just start a warrior in the first place?! THINK! If you want to be a DPS pally, that's fine, get soulforge. It has 2% crit strike plus 1% for spells.

It's an awesome post. You should read it. :)
Also, as for the "Warrior vs Paladin" debate on this stuff... The Battlegear of Valor would be great for a Retri Paladin, and I'm intent on collecting it for mine. It doesn't matter what class you think it's made for. If you find it better, then you'll use it if you can.
Honestly, check out the Lightforge gear, you lot of "Warrior vs Paladin" debaters. You can't tell me that set is better for DPS for a Retri Paladin than the Battlegear of Valor.
Out of curiosity, do the heirlooms count as part of the Valor set?
