Magisters, Dreadmist, and Devout make good place-holders for eachother, but the set bonuses make it clear which classes they're deisgned for. A Priest should only get Magisters if none of the Mages in the group need it, and visa versa.

Any Priest who uses full Magisters instead of Devout doesn't know how to play his class. The increase in Int from Magisters doesn't nearly outweigh the final set bonuses of Devout.

Ok, so the magister's set has 167 Intelelct vs the Devout's 134 which clearly provides more mana BUT when you run out of mana during a battle, you're pretty much shit outta luck as a priest, you cant evocate like a mage can

What the devout set has that the magister's lacks is Stamina AND Spirit (71 Stam/115Spirit- Devout & 66 Stam/79 spirit Magisters)

In case you are unaware of what spirit does- it regenerates your health AND MANA DURING BATTLES!!

So why is this important for a priest? Well first off, stamina is important becasue it provides you with more hit points, spirit will allow your mana to regenerate which in turn, even if your max mana is 10,000- once it's gone it's gone but if its only 5,000 and regenerating constantly- then you could end up using 12,000 mana before the fight is over (and teh more spirit you have, the better a druid's invennerate will work on you)

So you see- It is important for a mage to NUKE the hell outta stuff -evocate, then NUKE more where as a priest usually casts heals throughout an entire fight and the spirit is very important to keep the mana coming.

As for the bonuses- the shield protecting the priest from death is more valuable than freezing in place whereas a mage prob. has rings and trinkets that increase frost damage/spells and this will enhance the freeze in place effect of magister's set bonus.

Also ONLY MAGES can upgrade Magister and ONLY PRIESTS can upgrade Devout.

If you are a priest and you want this set for damage- you should've made a mage if you did not want to be a healer.

As far as locks- who cares about intellect LIFE TAP!!! Get yur gear that has all that stamina- thats waht YOU really need and mages, don't get dreadmist YOU CAN'T LIFE TAP but your mana shield (the opposite really - turns mana into life not life into mana)

Speaking of which- only a mage can turn mana into a shiled, a priest already has a shield that they can throw up and not even drain mana upon each hit-

          Come-on guys; use your brains!!
Blizzard designed these with a certain class in mind!- only reason they are NOT calss specific is because a Priest is better off with magister's than a greenie if the mage already has it and vise-versa, but don't roll agaisnt them guys!

          MAGES need intellect most
          WARLOCKS need stamina most
          PRIESTS need spirit most

get it?  If you think i'm wrong, please visit some WoW forums and actually READ that little book that came with your sofware and quit being sucha goddamn n00b!!!!!

I don't think they are as class specific as some would think.  Take me for example... i'm a mage that always runs 5-man dungeons.  It's what i do.  I like the rares and the exp.  I, for one, would rather have spirit than stamina.  A lot of people would call me an idiot, and say your health is more important, and that mana regeneration is useless, but I disagree.  Remember, mages wear CLOTH.  This means, you will get hit in melee hard, and there isn't a lot other than mana shield you can do about it.  Mages are more susceptable to losing health, so it should be one of their main goals not to pull too much aggro.  Sure, if you can kill the target in a couple hits, you can go wild without much worries.  Your goal is still not to get hit too much.  And, unfortunately, unlike warlocks, we don't have the draining health to make mana ability, so a mage like me would just end up with a bunch of extra health sitting dormant, and rarely would it save me, because most of the time I don't just barely die... when i die, it's normally because we are fighting too many, and the group is dieing, so having that extra 1000 health will just mean i will die later rather than sooner.  And, even that won't be much longer, because we don't have much armor, so they are hitting in the triple digits.  Meanwhile, spirit improves evoction, and with mage armor (which i use in dungeons the most for these exact reasons), you can regenerate some in combat, and there is an arcane talent that will let you regenerate 15% MORE of your normal mana regeneration.  Then, on top of that, when your getting attacked or evoction and mana jade are on cooldown, you have to pull out your wand, and spirit is what you need to get away from 60dps and back to the 100-200 dps.

So, I say if a priest says this is what he wants, he should get it.  Even if he is going against what everybody else says, he might be on to something.

Just to the mage who said why is INT important and he never runs out of mana in MC then you must be doing somthing seriously wrong, in MC a mage will always run out of mana within the 1st minute of the fight with a boss. Plus this is not a PVP set if you want more sta for PVP then get the PVP gear.

Any Priest that would roll on this set imo is a ninja looter and should be blacklisted. Also if any priest that thinks this set is better then the devout set clearly does not know how to play as a priest.

This set is made for mages to use in endgame instance to help them get there epic gear, that is why it does not have a lot of sta becuase the mage does not need it when there is tanks.

From the Majority of replys i have seen on here i can tell the most of you clearly dont know how to play your class and really should consider changing. This is a MAGE set.

Reputation is more important than anything else. I rather to give up all blues and get greens just for a good reputation!

My brother, a human warrior, does not know too much about the sets items as he was the first time going to high level dungeons.

He accidentally rolled one of Lightforge set which meant for Paladin. The item he rolled was a big upgrade for him as Paladin and warrior often has similar items.

The paladin has tried all his best to defame him as ninja in IF, telling everyone he knows or who trusting him my brother warrior is a ninja. My brother really learned a painful lesson from this although he did not intend to be a ninja.

What happened to me was that when the first time I went to Scholo (lvl 55 priest), I rolled greed on two blues one five of elementals and a cloth chest. I need them both, but not so badly. A mage who has already won a blue and wanted the second blue. The mage tried so hard to defame me the raider put me on his ignore list to stop me from explaining. When I joined another group, the mage immediately back stabbed me as a ninja and asked the leader to kick me out of the grouped.  (He whispered to the leader.)

The leader asked me whether that is true which I explained to him that is not true. It was just a misunderstanding, an accident.

I felt absolutely horrible, the same way I felt I got back stabbed at work few years go. I almost felt want to give up playing dungeons after this.

What I have done to restore my reputation is that. I promised to my second group:

FOR THAT INSTANCE, I WILL NOT ROLL ANYTHING, NOT EVEN CLOTH ITEMS NOT EVEN SET ITEMS, NOT EVEN GREEN ITEMS FOR THE WHOLE SCHOLOMANCE.

I told them that I was there just to help, but not to roll against anyone, guess what I did, not get anything in the second time going to dungeon.

As newbies, two painful lessons from me a priest and my brother a warrior. PAINFUL!

Therefore, please please follow the loot rules, if one blue each, never roll the second one without explicit permission.

If that was a set item, Dreadmist for Warlock, Devout for Priest or Magister for mages, just let the class roll if you do. (Don’t roll even they have it, they can easily deny and defame you. Just get permission from the leader or them first.)

If someone accidentally being a ninja for the first by mistake or lack of knowledge, forgive them give them at least a second chance. People may make mistakes and they genuinely want to correct the mistakes. Do not defame them publicly.

Therefore, priests/including shadow priests, never roll on Magister or Dreadmist. (I am a shadow priest by the way.)
Warlocks, never roll on Devout or Magister
Mages, never roll Devout or Dreadmist.

All classes, don’t roll against others because they have rolled against you before. The ninja penalty is far far more worse which the item/satisfaction you got could not compensate.

First of all - I'm an undead mage.

This week I've had my first high lvl instance runs, like Strat, Scholo, BRD, you name it.

I went with random groups and a friend snatched me into a couple of his guild raids.

So far pieces of the magister's set has dropped for me 3 times (leggins, belt, mantle), and I've been so lucky, to be the only mage in the group who needed it each time. So I need rolled the stuff. Everyone in the raid understood and thought that it was very fair.

Dreadmist pieces has dropped several times for me, a couple of times we had a warlock which needed, but most of the times, I was in a raid with a warlock which was already collecting his epic set from MC/ZG, you name it. So when noone was rolling 'need' and the piece would be an upgrade for me, I simply sent the message in raid chat saying: "If the warlock or priest doesn't need it, then I need it". The raid found this fair, and I got the stuff.

Devout has dropped once, that was the headpiece from Darkmaster Gandling, Scholo. Our priest needed it, so I passed it.

          My point is:

Devout goes for priests - however if there is no priest or the priest doesn't need it - then mages and warlocks who need it can roll.

Maigster goes for mages - however if there is no mage or the mage doesn't need it - then priests and warlocks who need it can roll.

Dreadmist goes for warlocks - however if there is no warlock or the warlock doesn't need it - then priests can roll and if the priest doesn't need, then the mage can roll (priests got shadow spells, mages don't).

But some of the pieces are Bind on Equip. So be aware, that if you are a mage and i.e. the Dreadmist Wraps (BoE) drop for y ou in Scholo and noone else need it, then don't roll it even if it would be an upgrade for you - 'cause the Magister gloves drops also in Scholo so you would never know if the next mob you killed would drop them.

The BoE items from each class armor set can be sold for many gold, so it would be dumb to equip one of those, if it's not from the armor set you are collecting.

                  P. S. if your a druid/hunter who rolls on a cloth item for the intellect ... it is my opinion that you should quit the game

                  P. P. S.  warlocks and priests should just look at the set bonuses on their sets to see why they shud go for their own.  its quite obvious what class belongs to which set.

The only use i can see for magister's is AoE'ing because the multiplier of 0.111 for IAE +dmg makes stats more useful than +dmg. In 1.10 there will be upgrades to the sets to quest for - i dont know whether you need the original rare set in the first place to upgrade it from though.

As for rolling on caster sets that arent specific to your class, I am a mage and have pieces of dreadmist, devout and magisters; because they were better than what i had at the time and either there were no priests/locks or they didnt need. It seems insane to grind the whole of this set, considering what you get after the month or so it would take you to get it.

Copy and paste it into your web browser.

When you get there, on your right you will be able to Choose your class (Druid, Mage, Warrior, Warlock, Priest, etc.)
Followed by your Race (Human, Gnome, Troll, Undead, etc.)
Then you can pick sex (male, female)

Once you've done that - on the left you will see your selection wearing the set Blizzard designed for that class.

Cool you can see what it looks like all together, you can scroll over the pieces and see their stats.

See, Blizzard makes it easy to figure out

By the way- the Magister set will only appear on A MAGE

The upgraded set's bonuses are backwards to the non-upgraded set pieces so you don't lose bonuses when you switch every 2 pieces out.  Not sure if you can wear 2 pieces of each of the caster sets giving you like +600 armor. That's an interesting thought.
Also, you can only upgrade the set that was intended for your class so a priest can't upgrade deathmist and so on.

As for the total cost, the TEST server gave us about 250 gold, but it already gave us the quest mats we needed so it'll cost way more on LIVE servers.

                  Here's a decent walkthrough I found.

Well getting full Magisters set isn't impossible if there's anybody out there collecting it :P
Honestly, if you haven't started it yet I don't really recommend that you do because there's a lot of better stuff out there that outweighs Magisters.  Unless you're going for maybe Sorcerer's, I'm not sure how good that is but I know that the quests are really hard so I gave up.  Now my mage has full Magisters and I use it mainly for PvE because the added mana is really nice for groups, and for Soloing lower instances and stuff.  (I still can't do armory by myself lol.)

Crown drops off Darkmaster Gandling (Scholo)
Shoulders drop off Ras Frostwhisper (Scholo)
Gloves are a random drop (Scholo I've seen it but I think all the BoE items for sets can drop in any end instance like Strat sc/dk, scholo, UBRS etc.)
                  Bracers (same as above)
Robe drops from Drakkisath (UBRS)**this sometimes takes a while to get
Boots: AFTER THE RECENT PATCH THE MAGISTERS BOOTS NOW DROP OFF OF HEARTHSINGER I think. He's in Strat DK at the beginning in that right alcove.
                  Pants: Baron Rivendare (Strat DK)
Belt: Random in all the instances (I think)

Well I think that's it; If you wanna PvE your eyes out then this is the set for you!  That's kinda what I do, and I think it's really good for farming and whatnot.  Example: I grinded my epic mount on easter weekend alone using the set in stockades, swear!

**Always check Ah for the BoE items, on my server (Gorgonnash) the belt sells for about 20-30 g and the gloves bout 50-80 g, bracers usually anywhere from 100-200g :(

It's not really worth all the work you have to put into getting it, but if you're still interested in getting all of it like I was then get out there and do instances! =D

Look i'm gonna tell all you mages now in case you read this ever. Prepare for the biggest hell grind of your life to get your dang armor. Unless you have the biggest amount of luck in the game you will not be seeing your robe crown or leggings for a long time personally i would just go for the rank 7-10 rank pvp armor it is considered better than the magister armor and easyier to get.

First of all, (to point out to the guy who was talking about Mana shied = health) mana shield is important to a mage, but it doesnt do ANYTHING when you are fighting casters. Mana shield only absorbs PHYSICAL damage, and not much of it at all. If you get hit hard, mana shield won't do a thing. Also if you say intellect is more important then health then healers with have a helluva time healing mages that have 100 HP. AoE mages do damage, but are known as the 'aggro whores' of the group.

From what I understand this is how the drop thing is

Belt - It can drop in either Strat, Scholo, and UBRS. I've never heard of it dropping in LBRS. Its really cheap though, so it's probably better to buy it.

Gloves - Drops in Scholo from random elite mobs (mostly the Adepts). These are more expensive than the belt but still considerably cheap.

Bindings - Drops in UBRS from random elite mobs. REALLY Expensive right now on my server. Going as high as 200g now.

Crown - Drops from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance.

Leggings - Drops from the Baron in Stratholme.

Mantle - Drops from Ras Frostwhisper in Scholomance. It seems most groups forget to kill him =P

Robes - Drops from Drak in UBRS.

Boots - Drops from either Hearthsinger Forrensten in Stratholme. This guy is hidden but you hafta take the left path to get to him. When you enter UD Strat, open the first gate and kill the first mob. Then continue going straight until you get to the second gate. Whether you take out the second mob or not is your decision but regardless, go though the second gate and type  /target Hearth  . If he doesnt pop up right when you enter then he is either to your far left, or deep in the area. Ive only seen him spawn in three different locations =P

Sorry, but someone who didn't run instances wouldn't be invited on our 20- and 40-man raids. You have to know how to work as a team, and 5- and 10-man instances are good training. Besides, there's good gear to be had there. If you don't make the effort to gear yourself up for MC/Ony/ZG/AQ, what makes you think you deserve the raid spot over someone who does?

As a shadow priest, I usually heal in parties (sometimes a pally will offer to heal so we can kill stuff faster. woot!), so I'd want devout for that. When I solo or pvp, I'd want magisters (or dreadmist) for the ice (or flee) bonus. Sure, more stamina would make pvp easier/live longer etc. but the set bonus from devout gives me a short duration of a spell I can already cast, whereas the magisters bonus is unique to a priest. Since I have pts in discipline, I can cast pw:s on myself for free so wearing devout when soloing or pvping doesn't buy myself all that much.

That said, I would never roll against a mage/lock who still needed the magisters/dreadmist piece. That would just be evil.

I hate how the lowest sets start at for clothies is level 52, whereas leather and mail sets start in deadmines, and SM.  Before level 40, there are 3 cloth-wearing classes, 4 leather-wearing, and 2 mail-wearing.  At, and after 40, there are 3 cloth-wearing, 3 leather wearing, 1 mail-wearing, and 2 plate-wearing classes.  Yet they still start the cloth sets at level 52.  What's up with that?

I collected Shoulders, Gloves, Hat, Wrists, Legs and Belt in only 4 runs of Scholomance 2 runs of Stratholme and 2 runs Upper Blackrock Spire.

I Hope too collect Boots - Chest as soon as possible anyway the Chest drops really hard and it takes a long way too get there. Boots are eassy just get a group (or let a higher level friend help you) and go Stratholme first boss. eassy to track down.

What i want to say is: If you are lucky you can get a set (whatever set Wildheart,Devout,Dreadmist,Ironweave,Necropile,Shadowcraft,Elementals,Magister's) Really soon, i hope all you set collectors Up there are lucky on rolls and drop rate.

P.S.: Enchant the Magister's set with pure Stamina enchants.

Boots-7 stam  Gloves-10spell critt  Wrist-9 stam  Chest-150 health  Legs - 8 stamina with Knothide armour.
