If a rogue has more than +5% chance to hit, this will equal to an extra +hit since it only affects the white damage.

For sword-rogues it is a tiny bit less worth since they have a chance to hit an extra time everytime they deal damage with a sword, this is an instant attack and depends on the hitchance, making +hit better.

So if you want a higher white damage, this is the enchant you want, if you play pvp style with ambush and backstab you might want to look elsewhere.

At 1.98s will be you next normal swing, and you'll get then next chance to proc. After about 99s you'll get the bonus extra swing from this enchant, and that will be 1% more chance to proc the sword bonus. However, any instants that could proc the bonus are not sped up. Wars would have slightly more use there, as they would genereate a little extra rage from the bonus attack, and thusly be able to use it for bonus instant attacks.

    Effect 1
    Apply Aura: Haste - Melee
    Value: 1
    Effect 2
    Apply Aura: Haste - Ranged

So it does in fact have an effect upon your ranged speed based on what Thottbot has recorded.

The same applies for the Arcanum of Rapidity's effect ( http://thottbot.com/?sp=22841 ) which means if you really wanted to, you could have a 3% increase in attack speed for melee and ranged. Now, is this worth giving up other potential enchants? I don't have that answer.

For example: My Brain Hacker has a speed of 2.10 but in the DPS window it say 2.08. This also slightly increased the DPS because weapons speed is factored in when calculating DPS.

I think this was a worth while enchant for me because when a Shaman malee he/she need all the help they can get. Any advantage no matter how small is an advantage. It was like having an extra swing per fight.

I think a 1% attack speed has gotta be worth 5 dps on average for me, though there is no way to really know. The +7 STR glove enchant gives me around 1.5 dps.  The 15 agility would give about .75% increase crit chance is the only thing that comes close.

Buffs, enchants etc that add %'s rather then a fixed amount really create leverage as you advance.  I have this enchant and the muuuch more expensive Librams of Rapidity on my head and legs.

I'm not much good in duels because I'm such a one sided character (hardly anything extra for AC or HP) but in instances working with a good tank I always do the most damage.  If that is your goal and you're a fury warrior get this enchant.  Given that agility helps a rogue in more ways then just crit %, it's a tougher call but I wouldn't be suprised if this overlooked enchant is better for them too.

Speaking as a warrior, a lot of Syrsa's analysis is incorrect.

For your typical high-end warrior doing raid DPS, +1% haste is probably a net 0.5-0.6% increase in overall DPS.  (Why?  High-end warrior does about 50% white damage and 50% yellow damage.  1% haste is to white damage and on-next-attack, i.e. Heroic Strike and Cleave, so slightly more than the 50% white damage is accelerated).

Killing blow timing is irrelevant for PvE raid, all I care about is doing more DPS over time and what enchant allows me to do that.

Most raid boss fights are well over 200sec (or 400 seconds for that matter), so you will see the extra swings.  Trash kills are obviously faster, but less critical.

The last argument "even less where it's a matter of life or death" is irrelevant to any discussion of enchants.  You might as well say "don't bother getting any enchants they only increase your damage a little bit, so it's not worth it" ... the point here is not how small the increase is but rather for the specific slot which is the best enchant.

For warriors doing dps with high-end gear, the enchants on gloves are valued approximately as 1%haste >== 15agi > 7str >> 7agi.  15agi is very expensive though (150-200g), and 1% haste is very cheap (10-15g).  For tanking gloves, 15agi is better, of course, since it adds armor and dodge along with crit.  +threat is better still.

Ironically enough, it turns out that for DPS warrior, the looked-down-on weapon counterweight, +haste to gloves and libram of rapidity are pretty excellent additions, especially if you have them all.  Your baseline damage has to be pretty high (BWL-ish gear) before this is true, and you should be fury build to make maximum advantage of it.

(Ignore all this if you are concerned with PvP mostly, since your ability to do sustained single target damage is basically zero -- get +agi)

Syrsa, you're thinking of this one enchant in a vacuum rather then as part of a whole. I've got 3% haste from different enchants and I use 2 Felstrikers (speed 1.70).  Plus, as a fury warrior, I've got the Flurry talent which increases you swing speed by 30% for the next three swings after a crit and since my crit % is around 30% and I dual wield with the Felstrikers spaming out crits as well, I'm in the 30% speed boost a lot of the time. Using your assumption that the clock resets which each new foe (logical, but not neccessarily true) and depending on the breaks I get an extra swing every 40-45 seconds or so.

"So think for a minute how many battles you have where none of your targets die for 3m 20s." Now change the 3 minutes 20 seconds to 45 seconds and ask the question again.

I kept track of my damage over time and since I always hunt with the same people I can track any changes against them as well and I think I got around 2+% when I changed to the three haste enchants from what I had before, though given the randomness of everything it is hard to know for sure.  I wish we had an in-game dumby we could smash away on for 10 minutes that would total up you damage done so all this (and many other things) could be tested.

this was one of the most retarded things i have ever read.  i especially enjoyed the section entitled "extra swings"...

if you want a certain amount of extra damage (which you selected to be one "full swing") you have to wait a certain amount of time.  however, this enchant WILL increase your DPS on your FIRST SWING.  how?  let's see... a 2sec weapon now becomes a 1.98sec weapon.  that means weapon damage is dealt 1.98sec into the fight instead of 2.  it also means the second weapon damage is dealt at 3.96sec instead of 4sec... see the pattern?  you did the same amount of damage... correct... but it was done FASTER, hence more DPS.

granted, you don't deal a full "extra swing" until a certain time period.  you do, however, deal the same amount of damage in LESS TIME.  let's try a math problem:  you have two weapons and both do 100 damage every swing.  one of them swings every 3 seconds, and the other every 4 seconds... which do you take?  i'll take the first, because even though you don't see a full "extra swing" until the 12 second mark, the DPS of the first is 33.3 while the second is 25.0.

quite obviously, this enchant will increase your dps by 1% if all you do is right click on your target, ie auto attacking. this makes it very nice for combat classes that dont use instant attacks. as burst damage is not affected, id think this would be more suited to pve than pvp (where +agi or +str enchants would probably be more useful).

personally id like this enchant (in pve) on a hunter, where 1% damage applies to basically everything except multishot, and also on a shamman, where 1% haste is 1% dps (except for stormstrike shamman). even flurry should make no difference, as all haste mods are becoming multiplicative after 1.12, so stacking haste does not have the same diminishing affect as stacking crit.

for rogues, allot of your damage is from instant attacks and burst damage is even more important for rogues for pvp, so i wouldnt advise it.

for fury warriors, this may be useful (in pve) with slightly more rage etc, but i cant really comment as i have little experience with warriors.

It's not about the 100th hit against a mob, it's about the 1st, and the 2nd, and every hit after that.

My statement about increasing DPS was correct. You will now be hitting the enemy faster, but dealing the same amount of damage per hit. That means that you will down an enemy quicker than you would have normally. That means that on average, you deal more damage every second!

DPS stands for Damage Per Second. DPS = Damage/Time. So, killing a mob twice, once without and once with this enchant, you will have more DPS with, because you've dealt the same amount of damage, only dealt it quicker... That's means, even if you kill it in 2 hits, your DPS was better!

The only thing is of course, my statement about it increasing the DPS of a slower bow isn't right... It does speed it up by a greater amount than the slower bows, because the percentage of the speed to increase is greater, but the DPS increase is the same for both a slow bow, and a fast bow, with the same DPS.

Also, this is the only enchant that I know of increases your damage by a percentage, rather than a fixed amount... For a hunter, 7 Agility = 14 Attack Power = 1DPS, end of. For this enchant, it makes each of your hits land with more speed... So, the more you buff your damage per hit (better weapons, and the +weapon damage items listed in previous post), the more this enchant will benefit you!

Going back to the DPS formula (DPS = Damage/Time), this is because agility modifies the DPS part (altering the damage in retrospect to compensate), stuff like scopes and Might of Cenarius modify the damage portion, and haste items modify the time portion... Meaning that the +dmg items are also percentile based!

I doubt this is the case though because in game play while using 2 different weapons with two different speeds the swing rate is obviously different between the weapons.  And the description for this enchant describes a difference in weapon speed, not total number of attacks, or number of extra attacks.....

There is no need to calculate dps as you can compare it in character screen weapon damage tooltip before and after enchant. I did it myself so I'll post it here.

    -- scenario 1
    MH weapon: Talon of Azshara
    OH weapon: Merciless Gladiator's Quickblade
    Gloves enchant: Assault (26AP)
    AP: 1639
MH Average DPS (from tooltip): 212.3
OH Average DPS (from tooltip): 165.0

    -- scenario 2
    MH weapon: Talon of Azshara
    OH weapon: Merciless Gladiator's Quickblade
    Gloves enchant: Minor Haste
    AP: 1613
MH Average DPS (from tooltip): 212.4
OH Average DPS (from tooltip): 165.1

So 1% haste IS better than 26AP and it even scale better as your AP goes up. But note that this affect only your white damage.
