The quest is easy enough really

1: talk to lord ravenholdt (sp?) in his manor in Hillsbrad (you know the place northwest of durnhold keep)

2: Pickpocket a sealed azure bag from a Furlbog Shaman in Azshara (if you are ally or friendly just declare war on them and pick away) the bag isn't a 100% drop rate (it took me 2 tries and my friend about 12)

3: Take the bag to Archmage Xylon in Azshara (speak to a high elf (Sanath Lim-Yo) south east of Timbermaw Hold to get ported up to him)

4: Get 10 (jesus save me) Book fragments (Encoded Fragmants I think they're called) from Forest Oozes in north east Azshara. This part was driving the whole zone crazy as no one realized that they had a placeholder (the oozes do) Kill Mistwing Ravagers to get the oozes to spawn (I had a path that I could kill 6 in a row and circle back to the first while in stealth just as it was spawning accounting for the spell they cast making you move at 75% normal speed)

5: Give the 10 fragments to Archmage Xylon

6: The next part was what killed me and to be honest I don't really remember the specifices .... Go to the Sunken Temple and kill some weirdly spelled mob and loot the key (quest key and all =/) ST is bar-none my least favorite zone in the game, so I just joind a group already headed there and we laid waste to the entire zone =/ .... and in the process got my key (hoofrigginray)

7: Return to Lord Ravenholdt and pick one of these three (I got the boots, though I kind of wish I'd gotten the head)

    Ebon Mask
    Head
    122 AC
    11 Stamina
    +1% to crit
    +36 Attack Power

    Whisperwalk Boots
    Feet
    104 AC
    18 Agility
    4 Stamina
    Increse Effective Stealth by 1

    Duskbat Drape
    37 AC
    14 Agility
    Reduces Damage from Falling

anyways the Shaman Pick is the easy part, the Fragments were easy, but time consuming, and ST is and will always be a drag

It took me about 2.5 hours to get to the ST part and about 2-3 to clear all that garbage

I was one of the first 1-5 people on my server to finish this and I figure its worth doing at 50-55, but not worth doing at 60 imho

    hope this helps =)

Ok i just finished this quest... and like everyone the spawn rate of the oozes drove me mad. I had 9 of 10 fragments and decided to try something strange. I pickpocketed an ooze.. and not only could i pickpocket him but the sob gave me TWO fragments! so if your getting ready to do this quest pickpocet then kill will probably take no time at all.

I dont know what the guy is talking about, i have killed everything but the giants in the area and have not seen a ooze respawn in their place.  I have seen exactly two oozes in two hours and neither dropped a fragment.

I am a lvl 56 rogue. Yeah the encoded fragements drops from the oozes. I took me a few hours cuz the drops are low from my experience. I started it lastnight for about 1hr and continued this morning for another hour. ===================================
PS: the helm reward is worth it at least until you get to 60 and if you dont plan on buying anything better.

Where is he located?  Thottbot says he's in the middle of the mountains, and I've ran around the mountains for about 30 minutes, not being able to find a path to the squares marked on the map.  One square is marked just above Durnholde Keep, where I didn't find him.  And I haven't yet tried the square to the far west of Durnholde.  First poster says NW of Durnholde... where no squares are marked by thottbot, and all I see when looking at the map is Tarren Mill.  Can somebody give a little more detail?

This post is faded because it has a negative score.

The thottbot map shows the location of his manor.
Just go up the trail and you will find a cave go through it and you will be on the grounds of the manor
Lord Ravenholdt is up stairs in the house.

Just a heads up that I hope will make the fragment collection part of the quest less painful.  The oozes can be pickpocketed!  That means you get two chances for that annoyingly scarce spawn to drop what you need.  Good luck folks.

the fragments are very easy and quick. Go to where the quest tells you, I think it sounds something like north east part. Anyway, you go to north east (on top of the land mass, along the drop to shore). You 'll see 4-5 oozes spawns eventually (spaced, not all together of course). Some wossaname flying things and some elite giants are there.

Pickpocket and kill the oozes. I got all the frags from the 5 oozes. Took me maybe 15 min

First, go to 75,24 in Hillsbrad Foothills, you should see a ramp, go up and you'll see these humans, "Assasin's League."  Go through the short cave and to your right, you'll see a big house, go in, his coordinates are 84,17.
