Says junk, but it's a white item. Maybe after a while, Blizzard will add the ability to turn a few of these into an entire scale, kinda like ruined leather scraps.

  Thats what I was thinking, sucks that we can't do that already.

Its worth 5 silver each and stacks up to 20, so each stack is worth a gold. So it's nice vendor stuff even if you have your bags full a bit.

I would wait. I have a feeling these might be usefull as a thing to upgrade (as suggested) or to other professions.

Uhm....they could be used to raise reputation with C.C. up to revered, just like Dark Iron residue for Thorium Brotherhood?

It's a pretty common drop and it's white....i'd suggest not to sell it :)

As high a lvl that these drop off of they should be used for SOMETHING

All the Carapace's and Chitin are obtained non-bound from Skinning the Elite bugs in Silithus, currently they are the only things that give them but once 1.9 comes out AQ will probobly be a large source for them.

i know that the AH have difrent prize configuration but... what is it worth on your server?

Strangely, although this is a vendor trash grey item - it goes straight into my leatherwork satchel. Perhaps Blizzard had a plan for using them at one stage but it never made it into the game?

A few other mobs drop off-the-beaten-path trade goods from skinning (e.g. Devilsaur Leather and scorpid scales), but AFAIK, only the Silithids in Silithus skin out vendor trash.

I'm not sure it was an error on Blizz' part, though. In days gone by Silithus was endgame, and most of Silithus' weirdnesses (its potentially endless quagmire of quests, the huge sprawl of AQ40, the game of Silithyst) make sense in that context.
