Yes. It's almost like a prep and release when you shoot. A highly underused spell. Now only if they had percentage effects instead of actual points, we'd be talking.

actually it says next melee attack against the caster... the guy above is NOT Aegisfang tauren hunter on Khadgar, im posting this so I dont look stupid lol (me being the hunter O_o)

I have an undead priest and this skill is highly underated. Keep it on you whenever you aren;t grinding and it's very useful. Rogue or druid jumps you and the damage they deal is significantly less. But the best part about it for shadowpriests is the fact that Blackout can be triggered of this.

In AB druid jumps me, thinking he's gonna pwn me. Haha, he stuns me, but touch of weakness stuns him for 2 secs allowing me to stack dots on him, psychic scream, a little mindflaying mind blast, pwned druid.

You must have a really short global cooldown if you can cast 4 spells within 2 seconds

Why do blood elf priests only get to learn touch of weakness?? it is unfair

diff races have diff spells they can learn, undead and troll priests each have their own as well it might seem unfair but each is beneficial to them in a way look and find the one that is for your race you have to click the spell to find out most times though

Undead and Blood Elf....I have a blood elf priest and this is for us too....but I must say while at lower levels this is quite a good skill to have with damage reduced by a lot, it gets weaker and weaker compared the the dmg dealt to you as you progress making it a little bit on the useless side for the hassle of constantly having to cast it before embarking on a kill. This should scale with level considerably more than it does at the moment and it would be a very useful skill. Caompare this to some of the other spells to learn and I feel a bit cheated!

i fully agree with what you say. i play a bloodelf (shadow)priest and i do feel a bit dissapointed that this spell doesn't a)upgrade according to lvl properly(i mean: c'mon it doesn't do that much) b)can't be cast on another partymember. since i usually play together with a pally i can hardly use this. i think bloodelf priests deserve something tougher than this; or is this price we pay for having mana tap en torrent?

  If you find that this spell doesn't 'scale with level', it's probably because you don't have enough +spell dmg for your level.

This is the most pointless spell ever. What a waste - ok I used it a lot at lower levels as when you are getting hit for 12 and stopping 4 then it is worth it....when you are getting his for 40 and stopping 7 it's a bit less use...and even less so at eve higher levels....Give me desparate prayer anyday! What a jip!

If you guys are going to whine about this then I suggest not rolling on BE or UD priest. Anyways I would like confirmation on if this spell can crit when it goes off. At rank 1 I could of swore I saw it crit for 14 damage instead of its usual 8, but confirmation would be nice. Also is this affected by +Spell damage or +Spell damage in percentage(Power infusion, outland zone 5% dmage buffs, etc.) Confirmation is what I ask.

If you think something crit but aren't sure, check your combat log. Unfortunately I can't answer the actual question, but it's a good practice to get into.

To be fair most priests get one good soloing/pvp and one good raiding spell. Anyone whos ever fought a troll shadow priest probably knows how nasty blackout + shadowguard is (still not as good as fear ward for pvp but hey..) and hex of weakness probably makes a noticable difference over an entire boss fight. Undead priests get devouring plague which IS nice so if you don't ToW at least you get the that!

The following are the race-specific abilities for priests:

Alliance
- Draenei: Symbol of Hope and Chastise
- Dwarf: Desperate Prayer and Chastise
- Night Elf: Starshards and Elune's Grace
- Human: Desperate Prayer and Feedback
Horde
- Blood elf: Touch of Weakness and Consume Magic
- Troll: Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard
- Undead: Touch of Weakness and Devouring Plague

Hopefully this will help you choose the race that suits your needs best when you create your priest. I'm already regretting my Blood Elf decision.

really helpful.

At first this spell seems kind of useless, but in practice it is a very useful spell.

Cons-
1 one Charge: you have to recast after every use
2 Weak damage

Pros-
1 Low mana cost
2 No cooldown
3 However low it still is extra damage, and +healing for spriests
4 Useful against feral druids, rogues, fury warriors and anyone who uses fast attacks
5 (this is the selling point) Procs Blackout

All in all, I wouldnt even bother using this if it didnt proc Blackout. But it does and it usually procs it once every 4-6 times its used which is extremely useful, especially when you get ambushed

You forgot a con: you have to get hit for this spell to do anything, making it essentially worthless for a PvE healer. Hex of Weakness is a much better spell for that.

Additionally, looking at the priest racial abilities on either side of the Faction gap, it kinda looks like Blizzard intended for every Horde priest to be Shadow spec...

blood elf spell

this spell gets annoying on my Warrior, every time i hit a priest i get blackout :( lol the -damage effect doesn't do too much but i guess every little helps...

yes this procs shadow weaving, yes this procs black out, but suprisingly, this can crit.
