The faster you master playing with the succubus the quicker you'll will find out about easy xp. in raid groups with a warrior and a Paladin I get BOM and battle shout and my pet alone does over 106 DPS

        But my point is, the voidwalker is your friend, unless you don't mind drain tanking with a succy or an imp.

        Personally, once I got Dark Pact and figured out that my imp could be the perfect mana battery, I did everything with it.

      I love to use the Imp for instances mainly because of two things:
      1. The commonly referred to Blood Pact
      2. DARK PACT!! My imp has about twice my spirit so i just draw from him to fill my mana, kill everything, and by the time everyone is dead I can just suck the mana out of the imp again!
      However, out of instances, it's pretty good in PvP (depends on build) but almost never used solo'ing.

      Imp's great for instances w/ tight corners and halls where it's hard enough for your party to see w/o having to navigate around your Void.  Although don't solo w/ him too much since he is a one-hit weakling who will die and leave you running for your life or spreading Fear like crazy...
      Void is great solo for the agro pulling and the beating it can withstand..I use exclusively until my Suc learns Seduction; after this you have the slightly longer lasting Imp with nice Lash damage as well as the power to seduce which is a great Fear-type distraction that will not cause your enemies to flee and bring back 5 of their friends.

        Ok I can't understand how every player sees it this way. It seems oh so many players forget about VW's Sacrifice and Succubus's Seduction.

        Instance = Imp for Stamina buff
        Solo = VW for tank
        WSG or AV = Felhunter

        Thats how most warlocks think, or so it seems.

        Yeah the Imp's Stamina buff makes over 500 more HP difference for players but I don't like do use him, he's no DPS after so many shots when he's outta mana, as usual.

        I prefer to use Succubus for Instances if they are primarily humanoids. LBRS is best example. Generally mobs are in a 4 man group. You have your mage poly, rogue sap another, and this is where I use Succubus's Seduce.
        By the time the 1st mob is dead the seduce expires, by the time that mob is dead sap expires, by the time that ones dead, poly expires. Plus the DPS is way better with her crits. Let's not forget how this solution against humanoids is the safest and prevents the healer from wasting a SS use because everybody gets owned by adds.

        Only time I use Void in instances is if I know sacrifice is mandatory, such as fighting Drakk in UBRS, or if you wanna be precautious and have a backup tank to buy you time for addiotional mobs that will come with the pull.

        Now as far as PvP goes, why do most think Felhunter is beneficial? Yeah it helps spot rogues faster but he hasn't saved my butt as much as VW has. Think about it, Healthstone + Major Healing Pot + Sacrifice =  5690 additional hitpoints (if you used talents on HS & Void).

        I've had so many more WSG matches where I used Void for a sacrifice & came out with way fewer deaths & alot more kills opposed to using Fel.

        Heres how I use it and have had a better success rate. Also to mention that I am a Destruction Warlock and not Demonology, so I am looking more at DPS than rejuvinating my mana from Dark Pact. With such high DPS additional mana isn't a necessity. Besides, you have Life Tap anyway.

        Instances:
        Succubus for humanoids and non-AoE mobs

        Imp rarely unless requested

        VW For bosses, Sacrifice will prevent your from getting owned if your tank loses agro(don't forget about Abysll Shard saves you from usin shards & mana so if you are thinking I must go through shards like crazy, I don't, only supplying HS's & SSing the healer kills shard supply)

        PvP:
        VW for sacrifice, no point in usin him for DPS as we all know

        Succubus if I want the best DPS. She outdoes Imp because faster attacks, and that leads to more crits to begin with compared to Imp's firebolt.

        Felhunter rarely, once in awhile I use him for DPS, or if there are alot of rogues I'm up against, which is rare.

        Solo:
        VW 99% of the time

        I've always used my imp since I can remember. Even after obtaining my VW, I barely used the VW. I would steal aggro from my VW all the time even at level 10 so I deamed the VW worthless. Succi is ok but her abilities aren't worth while, felhunter...kinda worthless since you can do much of the felhunters job with 2 different affliction spells put together, drain mana and curse of tongues. I'm an affliction lock, a grinder, and built primarily on stamina. I can kite, murder elites, have another enemy come at me after another (to a certain extent of 3-20 depending on what level, what race the enemy is, and if they are spellcaster or not), and have no pets help me out. this is basically my evaluation of the imp and gameplay:

        1.Blood pact is completely invalueble.
        2.Imp is the anti-melee pet because of fireshield acts like an extra DoT.
        3.has the most mana and best regen out of all lock pets.
        4.phaseshift makes the imp not obtain aggro and can't be hurt by anyone or anything unless the imp attacks (unlike the succubus).
        5.(if you're affliction) dark pact helps make the pet more so your bestest best friend.
        6.party/raid group pet.
        7.improved imp is easilly obtainable and with 3/3 blood pact will give +90 stamina at level 70.
        8.at level 64 fire shield gives +30 fire resistance.
        9.imp does more damage then the VW does and can be further improved by casting a curse of elements on target.
        and finally 10. doesn't take a soulshard to cast and takes the least amount of mana to cast.

        If I've left something out or if you want a more indepth example of gameplay with your imp while you solo, contact me Redicuu on the Sen'jin server undead lock level 66.

        If your pulling agro from VW then your attacking to soon.
        Send off the VW let him hit it a few times to get some agro up, then dots.
        CoA, corruption then immolate. Life tap, life drain, drain soul (if needed). Rince,repeat.

        CoA = 24 secs
        Corruption = 18 secs
        Immolate = 15 secs

        You want to time it so these dots all end at the same time for maximum efficiency.

        While you running upto the mobs and looting, send you VW onto the next mob so you dont have to wait as long to start attacking.

        At level 50 you can get Felhunter in demonology. IMO its the best lvling/grinding pet there is. Much harder to pull agro from it than a VW.
        Just make sure you put at least 1 point into "mana feed" (preferably 2) or he will always be out of mana.

        Definately, definately the best PvE pet for an Affliction Warlock, instance or no. This little guy regens mana almost faster than you can use it, boosts your health by a good margin and because of Phase Shift he'll always be there for you.

        But what about the Voidwalker!, you ask?

        Grow some balls, man. Seriously, you're a freakin' Warlock! You've got Siphon Life, Drain Life, and if you're smart you're prioritizing Stamina over Intellect. 90% of the time (provided you have Fel Conc) you can heal damage faster than a yellow or even orange mob can dish it out. Add the 'Improved' talent and hit that up to 99% of the time. In the rare occasions you can't heal through the damage, use your Fears. If it's a crowded area try Deathcoil - it keeps your target fairly close.

        Somewhat ironically, the only really useful thing the Voidwalker helps with is world PvP - that sacrifice can make a huge difference when you get jumped.

            Keep the imp phase shifted (passive) if you're aff with dark pact and use it as a mana battery. If you have it attacking its spamming fireballs, which is using its mana so less for you to steal back when you are low. Also when its phase shifted its invulnerable, it cannot die unless you do so bloodpact is always up. The imp has next to no hp so usually if you're in an inst or raid it gets 1 shotted by pretty much everything and unless you have gone a few points into demo for fel concentration its a long cast to get a new one mid fight.

            Felguard on the otherhand is made to pump damage at the expense of lesser utility spells.  He's just as good or if not better for PvP purpose for survival and damage.
