i just got the cats so i cant really tell you exact details of their stats (like with all the training points and such). like all cats their stats are normalized and neither comes with any abilities (though there might be a slight armor change which i cant really tell you about at the moment)
*if you wanna know how i got them check the shy-rotam thread..i posted how i did it there*
anyway..a quick comparison:
shy looks exactly like he/she looks in that picture up there(shy thread)...pretty cool looking and has an attack speed of 1.5 (decent but not great - PvE cat most likely)
i dont have a picture of siam but he is in my opinion the coolest look cat in the game. he looks like a big gray male african lion (with the big mane) - really badass. the real downer with him is that he has a molasses-like 2.0 attack speed
so who do i recommend? well if youre looking for a new pet, these guys are already level 60 so thats a huge plus if you ask me..im keeping siam just so i can walk around IF with him (ive gotten so many compliments and such just in the 4 hrs that ive had him). the better all around cat is prob shy just because of how slow siam is. just remember that dps is still the same regardless so even though shy is quicker then siam, siam does more damage per hit (probably most damage per hit of any cat)
so anyway..hope that helped
happy hunting guys!!!!
Basically get you friends to attack shy-rotan. When sian spawns set a frost trap down, fire a distracting shot at him if he goes for the others. Then tame him.
My frost trap held for most of the taming period.
Make sure you stay out of combat so you can place your trap. A good feign death should see to that.
Make sure you feed him up once you have him.
AS OF PATCH 2.3..
THis quest no longer spawns Elites.
This quest not just for Horde. (yay Alliance)
This means Alliance no longer has to beg horde to spawn Echykee or this quest for them, and they dont have to farm Rak'Shiri!
I did the Shy quest today and this guy made an appearance. I was actually hoping he wouldnt seeing as how im a lvl 57 hunter and he made it a little more difficult. Plus i wasnt interested in taming either one of these cats when i hit 60 (just tamed Rak'shiri today) But they are great cats Sian does huge damage. And Shy looks similar to Rak'shiri but her eyes dont glow bright green. But just so you know i dont think it has anything to do with staying close to the rock i believe its just luck as to whether she appears. Shy feared me and i ran far away from the rock. We were fighting in the snow. And i got her life down to about 50% and she called for her mate. He came out and let me tell you he hits hard. I frost trapped him and started using rapid fire on shy. He breaks out of frost trap and feared me but i got off one last arcane shot on shy that killed her right as i took off running. He then went up to her swiped her and despawned. So maybe the trick is keeping her alive???? I dont know but i do know that he spawed first time i tried the quest and i wasnt near the rock.
Good luck and Happy hunting!!!!

He looks kool and i wan to Tame him Bad!
Yeah this pet is great, i tamed the lower one but couldn't stand the fact that he died every fight we entered. So if there are any Horde on Undermine i'll pay to have you summon him. My name is Edcrazy.
we killed this guy when i was hunting for that lvl57 elite rare spwn Rak'shiri i think... but yeah im lvl70 and their fear is really annoying..
i was looking for rak shiri (NE)when i was still level 60 and i saw some hordies doing the quest and i logged onto my BE and asked them to summon it for me again, ;0) i now have both of the kitties

As of the Newest Patch Sian'Rotam and his mate can now be tamed by the Alliance doing the quest. Which means good luck to all you Alliance hunter out there!
As far as the questline goes you start it in Everlook by talking to the tauren by the back where the Ally FP is inside of town. First task is to kill
Ursius, level 56. Thanks to them docking the Elite off her I don't think she'll be too much of a problem like she was back when I did the quests here.
Your next task is to kill Brumeran, level 68 Chimera over there near where the dragons spawn.
You're final quest is to Kill Shy'rotam, Sian's mate. YOU MUST bring her down to near death before she roars out for her mate to come and protect her. At that point, I'd suggest killing her after freezing him so you can have it more simple. As she comes with a fear and so does he. When she is dead, wait for Freeze Trap to recycle, drop another and THEN tame him.
These used to be SO much harder when they were elites. It gave the THRILL of a challenge to tame one or the other. Mostly because of their hard hitting antics. But sadly, Blizzard wishes to 'take away' from the fun in the game.
Hope this helps for anyone looking to tame this lovely lion.
did 6 times ... Sian-Rotam didnt come out !!
...... why !?....
***EDIT***
you have to keep Shy-Rotam on the rock. !
I tried more than 6x, on the rock, off the rock, it didn't matter he never comes.
I did this quest 6-7 times, in hope on taming Sian-Rotam, but he never showed up, even if Shy-Rotam calls for his mate to help, still nothing. anyone else have that prob, or its just a bug?
ok hey sian isnt part of the quest. from what ive read he spawns when horde OR alliance tryes to spawn shy. and yes it is now also alliance quest.
One late evening - after a full day of questing - Xdaisy (level 69 at the time) ventured of to Wintersprings in hopes to catch a glimps or perhaps even tame Sian Rotam, this beautiful white lion. It was a snowy late night when she arrived to speak with Storm Shadowhoof at Everlook. He told me before I could even think about sending me to seek out shy and Sian Rotam I needed to do a few things first:
Kill Ursius of the Shardtooth
Xdaisy had the most trouble finding him. She finally was succesfull by typing /target Ursius
See: http://thottbot.com/q5054
Kill Brumeran of the Chillwind
Xdaisy found her near the road towards the end of her patrol at 62,59. She was down in 5 seconds. See: http://thottbot.com/q5055
and finally... Kill Shy-Rotam
Most of the above information was helpful to me but here is my experience in hopes that it might help someone out there.
1st attempt - Xdaisy's first try was not succesful in taming Sian. He didn't even show up. Conclusion; Xdaisy killed Shy way to fast. Xdaisy tried for 15 min. to collect more sacred meat and it was not dropping so she abandoned quest and picked it up again. The meat dropped on first kill. (not sure if you need to abandoned but this is what I experienced)
2nd attempt - Xdaisy prepared again and acquired the sacred meat. This time, she removed weapons and watched Shy's health. Xdaisy had to use 1 heal potion and endure the fear and damage but it was all well worth it when see saw Sian emerge to protect his mate. I quickly feared Shy and dropped a freeze trap on Sian's feet and started to tame. Just as Xdaisy was about to rejoice when Shy returned and feared Xdaisy...
3rd attempt - Xdaisy called her mate, Rahkim, druid. She did all the above, making sure she watched Shy's health bar. Sian, once again came to the aid of his beloved mate. Rahkim put Shy to sleep and Xdaisy dropped a freeze trap and proceeded to tame Sian. This attempt was successful.

Can anyone confirm if the way im doing it is wrong:
I start by getting the meat summon the cat. I beat on her unarmed (Level 70 so i have to) until she calls for her mate, but alas no mate. I feign and she resets then i engage her again and do the same but i havent gotten her mate to spawn.
he still does not show up . tried 6 times today with 2 chars but nothing . gm was most unhelpfull , does anyone else have this problem , she calls for her mate , but the never shows
Just did this at level 61, after the patch non-elites...which I hadn't tried it while they were, but I'm sure exponetially easier.
I soloed getting Sian-Rotam. First step, which isn't too important I tamed a level 60 Frostsaber Stalker mainly to learn the prowl 3 and dash 3 abilities.
Secondly, summoning Shy-Rotam I just had the pet attack it and not actually do any damage on it myself (first time I did it, I killed Shy too fast to tame Sian).
So, after about a third or so of Shy's health has gone, she calls for Sian. That's when I abandoned my pet. From there you want to fear Shy, even though she's fearing you every now and then. Once you do fear her, it's the standard freeze trap and tame. If all times out well, you'll have successfully tamed Sian before Shy gets back to fear you, and then you can finish killing her. Hope this helps.

Tamed Sian myself like 2 weeks ago..
What i miss with all you guys talking about how to tame is the actual way to get the mate sian show up at all..
Now comes the trick that almost no one mentions..
The bringing it down part is correct, roughly to 15-20%.
Then she will roar for her mate, that she does always, the tricky part is you have to be NEAR the slab you put the meat on, if you are to FAR away Sian won't appear.
You need to be close to that same spot you put the piece of meat on.
For the rest GL
I wondered myself why Sian apeared on one try and didnt on the next.. then it appeared to me that every time i was far away it didnt and when i was close to the place i put the meat up Sian did appear.
Hope it helped
I just tamed him a little while ago on my hunter, but ran into some problems while doing it.
On my first attempt(yesterday, i have tried for several weeks with no spawn)i farmed for the meat as i always do, i got it and summoned Shy. I start duking it out with her unarmed since im 70 well she calls for Sian, but alas no Sian(marriage issues i guess) so she dies and off i go to farm the meat again. Ok round two, she comes ans i dps her down then she calls for Sian and then and emote saying he answers her call pops up! Excited i looked for him and there he was, but right as i was gonna scare Shy and trap Sian he despawns, WTF! Well turns out he spawned near the corpse of the other Shy i killed, he swiped his paw and disappeared. Now im angry, so i start to farm but notice a warlock doing it too so stand by and hope Sian comes. He summons and fights Shy, she calls for him and to my surprise he comes again! I get ready to fire a shot at him but then he despawns again! Turns out the same corpse caused him to do it again. Now in my sad phase i farm again but doubt he will come, i get the meat but wait before summoning because there are still Shy corpses. They go away i summon and dps and wouldnt you guess it he comes yet again! I quickly trap Sian and kill Shy away from him, i retrap him and start taming and boom hes mine! YAY!
So if anyone is planning on taming him make sure there arent any Shy corpses near his spawn point or you will be one sad hunter.
I've read through all the posts on this page. Only one person asked the question-"If you have already completed the quest, is there anyway to get Sian to re-summon or to get the quest again?"
As far as I could tell there was no response to it. Does anyone out there have an answer?
I'm level 70 and I've been trying for the past few hours to tame Sian, but I've had no luck. I unequip my melee weapon and even take off some of my armor just to make sure I don't kill her too fast. I also make sure I'm standing on the rock when Shy calls for her mate, but he never comes. I'm I doing something wrong or do I just have bad luck? Anyone have any other advice for me?
Im having the same problem. I just ran quest with someone 4 times and everytime shy roars for mate he never comes. Does anyone know if hes been axed???
I successfully tame him early Monday morning. The way to do it is to slowly take her health down (don't equip any melee weapons). And when she called for her mate, back your damage off even more and he should appear. I also kept her near the rock where you summon her at. After he appears, quickly kill her, freeze him and you should have no problem taming him. It really tested my patients trying to get him to spawn, but it was totally worth it once I tamed him. He has made a great pet.
Tried for 2 days now with no luck. Finally petitioned and was told that as far as the gm knew the mate Sian-Rotam has not been removed from the quest. After summoning Shy approximately 30 times now, she calls for her mate but he never shows. Doesn't matter if I stand on the rock I placed the meat on or not. He just doesn't show. Any other suggestions?
He appeared after i killed shy-rotam for me. but i have done this quest many times and this was the first time he appeared.
so he still does appear its just very rare. :)
I am alliance warlock and done the quest at level 60.
Did the quest on first solo try (60 hunter) AND tamed that gorgeous grey lion... helps that im a BA hunter.(BA as in BADASS!! )
HERES WHAT TO DO:
Step 1: stable current pet in Everlook (Alliance BTW)
Step 2: go to frostsaber rock and tame ANY frostsaber
Step 3: kill frostsabers until SACRED MEAT drops
Step 4: go to rock and summon Shy
Step 5: Send pet after Shy (try to keep her in between rock and cave entrance to ensure Sian shows)
Step 6: get her down to about 35% health and she will call Sian
Step 7: FEAR SIAN and kill Shy
Step 8: abandon pet and lay freezing trap
Step 9: TAME SIAN
GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUNTING!!
I've read the question "how to tame when you've finished the quest" twice and no answer... I'll answer. You're going to need a player that has the quest, really. You need the meat, and without the quest, no meat for you. I'm not sure, but it might be on AH too. You can check.
Good luck taming him, he's wonderful!

Ok, a few people said they had problems with taming him, as he is known to not appear when Shy calls. This isn't to gloat or one of those uninformative "I TAMED HIM" posts like a few people annoyingly do, I'm not showing off only sharing my experience with Taming this beautiful white lion.
I started by Flying to Everlook, stabled main pet and rode to Frostsaber Rock, tamed a Frostsaber Pride Watcher as a trash pet, taught it growl and fed until happy. I don't know what the drop rate for the meat is like as I got it from my first Frostsaber Pride Watcher kill, it might take a couple of kills I'm not sure I think I was lucky with that one.
Placed the meat on the rock, and set Trash cat against Shy-Rotam, I stayed on the rock and hit her a few times, she feared me I ran back to the Rock stood on it and sent Serpent sting her way and let my Trash cat take on shy, but by then his hapiness dropped. I didn't even see Shy Call out but Sian appeared from the right of the rock and went after Trash cat, I shot Sian once to get his attention, whilst still on the rock I lay a Freezing Trap and went to finish Shy.
Shy went down after a few more hits, I abandoned Trash cat and went to tame but Sian broke free and feared me, when it finished I lay another Freezing trap and tried taming again, this time I was successful.
I really didn't have a plan and made it up as I went along with what a few people suggested, Sian appeared for me I know he doesn't with other people but try to stay on the Rock as much as possible and let your Trash pet deal with Shy so she wont Fear you from the rock, because I was on it when Sian appeared.
So, some pointers:
- Stay on the rock
- Let pet attack on low happiness as not to kill quickly
- Don't attack Shy more than once so you get the quest drop
Good luck!

is sian anygood wats the best cat in the game?
The best cat in the game is the one YOU find most appealing.
Because it's really all about looks, since all cats have the same stats.
And when it comes to looks, Sian imo is just very very huggable. ^^
hey look! It's Echeyakee 2. For all those horde hunters who didn't tame Echeyakee in the barrens, here's your second chance.
My Priest just helped a guildie tame this guy. Placed a Fear Ward on her "just in case".
Sian-Rotam is truly a gorgeous animal. The pictures above, while excellent, really don't do him justice. He's lovely.
is sain the harded hitting cat in the game
No, ALL cats have the same stats, just pick the one which appearance you like most.
I don't know what i am doing wrong. My friend had aggroe from Sian, And I was trying to tame, but for some reason he always resisted it, I tried Freezing trap - Distracting shot and every thing even got him down to 1 % and then tried, nothing worked, Can someone give me a pasific information how I can tame him.

ok i have summoned Shy-Rotam about 10 times already.
I am in a group, im not killing her too fast and Sian-Rotam is NOT appearing and its pretty annoying.
Any1 have any ideas why he wont appear?
Hey, this guy doesn't spawn... ever. Does anyone have a tip for me, because i've done everything posted and I still can't get sian to spawn. This is Super frustrating.
Do not kill Shy too fast!
1. Go to Everlook in Winterspring
2. Talk to Storm Shadowhoof and get the chain quest started: “Ursius of the Shardtooth” and “Shy-Rotam” is the 3rd quest.
3. Go to Frostsaber Rock
4. Get the “Sacred Frostsaber Meat” by killing Frostsaber cats
5. Abandon your pet
6. Tame a local level 60 Frostsaber Stalker and feed it to “Content” (so it won’t kill too fast).
7. Right click “Sacred Frostsaber Meat” around the stone to summon Shy
8. Heal your pet and let your pet attack Shy until Sian shows up.
9. Kill Shy.
10. Fear Sian.
11. Abandon your pet.
12. Drop an Ice Trap.
13. Tame Sian.
(6/20/08 level 66 hunter)
Note: you can learn Prowl 3 and Dash 3 from the Frostsaber Stalker.
Yeah, That didn't work either. Any other ideas?
Don't give up!
You don't have to abandon the quest! Leave Shy-Rotam alone before he dies. When you get back to the stone there is a really good chance that he is waiting for you. Fight him again, he will call again. If this fails again. Same precedure.
this pet is great...but very hard to tame cause of the fear and having to kill shy and ur heath is low im lvl 60 and died 7 times trieing to tame sian. my friend was lvl 60 also and he helped me tame this lion...we both teamed up on shy and killed her while sian was on me layed down frost trap and tamed him. this pet is great i recommend taming this guy the most!
HAPPY HUNTING

lvl 60 (for the alliance)!!!
It took me yesterday around 6 hours before Sian-Rotam appeared.
Here are some tips:
1. DO NOT KILL Shy-Rotam TO FAST!
Give Shy-Rotam time to call Sian-Rotam. It works! Let do your pet all the work. Disable all auto cast attacks from your pet, except growl. The claws of my bear killed Shy-Rotam to fast.
2. DO NOT KILL Shy-Rotam!
Shy-Rotam doesn't call for Siam-Rotam or Siam-Rotam doesn't appear? Leave Shy-Rotam alone! I found out it is best to leave Shy-Rotam when he is down at 30%. Let you pet in combat, run to the point where the road ends, your pet disappears, call the pet, and run back to the stone. In most cases Shy-Rotam is still there! This can be a little bit tricky, because in some cases Shy-Rotam follows you, and at the end of the road are some stealthed frostsabres, you get aggroed. You can let fight your pet Shy-Rotam again. He will call for Sian-Rotam. If Shy-Rotam is gone, farm the meat, call him.
When you kill Shy-Rotam, you have to farm for the meat, which can take up to one hour.
3. YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK TO WINTERSPRING!
The meat drops even when you have killed Shy-Rotam! You made a mistake and killed Shy-Rotam? Don't abandon your quest. Kill the frostsabres in the area, and the meat will drop again, until you finished the quest. After I tamed Sian-Rotam, the meat dropped from the first frostsabre I took aggro from. I went back to Everlook, gave Sian-Rotam to the stable master, tamed a new temporary pet, and called Shy-Rotan again. I am a lucky bastard: he called for Sian-Rotam, he appeared...and I have now two of these beautiful lions in my stable!
4. GOOD LUCK!
I had the problem, that some horde and alliance players were done the frostsabre mount quests. The 'helped' me killing Shy-Rotam.
To all other players: please let the hunters alone, fighting Shy-Rotam ore Sian-Rotam. They are here to tame this hard-to-get beautiful lion. It is pain in the ass, when one of these cats are killed by other players they think they would help us bringing down these cats.
Be sure to clear the area before summoning Shy, as her and Sian might fear you into any nearby mobs. Also make sure your mana is full, and have some mana pots with you, that way you shouldn't get too low.
It helps if there's someone with you who can freeze, in case Sian breaks your trap before taming is finished. I had a mage help me with that, after I helped him with Shy.
And no, the mage's frost nova will not break the taming. I assume another hunter's frost trap wouldn't either.
I pulled off this very difficult tame 2 days ago, with the help of a 57 mage, on the Whisperwind server.
