If you look hard enough thottbot tells you that you can get prowl if you tame a mountain lion (not a starving mountain lion). You go to the boarder of hillsbrad and alterac mountains to find them...

The best place to aquire prowl ( at it's highest level) is in Winterspring. The Frostsaber Stalkers at Frostsaber Rock have this ability (beast lvl 58).
Alternatively, there are panthers in STV (beast lvl 30ish)who have the prowl ability (lowest level)... if you look around the middle regions of STV, you will find them. Happy hunting
Meany of you Hunters who are look for the move "Prowl" (for your pet) are probly all like "OMFG WTF WHERE THE HELL DO I GET IT?¿?¿). Well your surch is over! Go to "Hillbrad Foothills" (where Tarrn Mill is). Then go to the yeti cave. After that go up until you hit "Alterac Mountains". You will see some mountain lions (if you don't then keep going up untill you are on the clif and they are up on their too). They are called/named "Mountain Lion". Use the move "beastloar" on the "Moutain Lion" to just make sure you are taming the right lion. Then just tame it! There you go. Your very own pet cat that know the move "Prowl". Now go free and enjoy!!! (and actuly do something)

I read these posts to help me find prowl and it didn't help. but very first post said Moutain Lions in Hillsbrad foothills Well i got it from those at lvl 32 Right up from yetti cave lvl 32 Moutain Lions prowl "rank 1" Alliance take Fp to SS and Walk North Quick And easy You may have to fight with the pet a good while before you learn skill but it will say when you learned it.

i tried taming the Hulking Maountain Lions north of alterac mts, but they didn't have prowl, although "Fizzwidgets Hunter Helper" (which displays tamed ablities of beasts on mouseover) says they do. my advice - wait a bit until you reach 37, then tame a Shadowmaw panther. they definately have prowl and look a lot cooler 8)
as said earlier, the best use for Prowl is using Eyes of the Beast and scouting ahead with your pet. normally i would use Eagle-Eye, but indoors, this works just as fine. If your pet gets spotted, use Revive Pet skill and it will unsummon right away. though mobs may come looking for its master (meaning YOU). Yes, you can teach your current cat pet Prowl. Keep in mind this is a lvl 30 ability.
First off, go to petopia.brashendevors.net and check the list for a cat that has Prowl. Put your current cat in the stable. Tame a cat that already has Prowl. Play with Prowl on that cat/fight with that cat until you see a message saying "You have learned Prowl (Rank 1)". This means that Prowl is now available under beast training. You can then abandon that pet, bring your cat back out and train it (assuming it has the points free). This works with any pet skill. If you haven't done this kind of thing, you could be missing out (especially if you leveled a pet from the start like I have). This is wierd. I tamed an elder Shadowmaw, and he won't stop prowling! Every time I walk a ways, he goes into prowl and falls far behind. It's annoying. How do I get him to stop doing that, if it is even possible?

If you look in STV when your doing Panther Mastery, i think the 3rd part of the mastery is the panthers that have prowl.
Theyre even in stealth or 'prowl' when you see them.
Wonderfully with the Brand newest patch! 2.3, Jaguero Isle, has lvl 41 Cats, with PROWL RANK 3! (So far only lvl 50's have Prowl Rank 3)
Thank you WoW for Nerfing levels, and screwing up, so I can have Prowl Rank 3 before Lvl 50! You Are My God! Anywho, I've read a few of these comments and have come to the conclusion everyone needs a tip. Hillsbrad/Alterac has some Prowlers, Yes, but! They don't seem to be as well a pet as a Shadowmaw taken from Stranglethorn Vale, I say this with experience. I worked great with my Shadowmaw, up until lvl 43, when I decided King Bang would be a good trial pet, I haven't left King Bang since. Plus KB comes with Dash rank 2 I believe (Haven't glanced recently.) Grab Prowl Rank 3 now, before WoW Notices that it's a lvl 50 Ability, and that lvl 41's have it (Oops!) And train it to your loyal pet. You'll love it! I promise! I was also going to mention something else but I forgot... I'll prolly edit this later while remembering... Lol I just got the Kitty on Jag Isle, -41 Training points, comes with Cower rank 5 And Prowl rank 3! Crappy HP and Armor really... So I wouldn't keep it. Lol Plus! I just was granted Prowl to tame to my other cats, and when I went to train my KB, (Had to untrain him for this, due to other talents taking up my stupid Training Points, I'll touch this in two seconds, It can only be taught to lvl 50's. So yeah, but I'd grab it now, instead of waiting for 50 to get it... lol As for the Talents thing, If you train your pet with the highest rank of a multi-rank ability, It only takes that amount of Training points, BUT the pet learns all of the ranks before that rank. Got the Prowl level 1 easy enough so I decided to get the Prowl level 3 from the jaguar on the island in STV. I can't get the prowl to pop up that I've learned it for the life of me. I've had no problem with training the other abilities but I'm failing at this-Is this the only one you have to learn all 3 Prowls in order?
okay, i know alot of people are having trouble, this goes for all pet skills. I had this problem too until i just figured it out, created a thottbot account, and made this post. To train your current pet, in any skill that he/she is capable of, all you have to do is catch an animal that already knows it, then tell him to use it a few times and you will learn it and be able to pass it on to your main pet... for prowl i went to STV, caught a shadowhide panther, and made him go in and out of stealth 6 times. After 6 tries, in little yellow words "you have learned new ability: Prowl (rank 1) appeared in the chat box. at that point i abandoned the pet, went to the stables and got my main kitty, and taught him prowl, easy as that. hope this helps guys

not much of a comment but im lvl 49 and just got prowl 3 from a lvl 42 cat. they seem to have nerfed a quest (message in a bottle in southern stranglethorn) by making everything on that island be under lvl 44. they forgot to nerf the skills on the beasts though =p.
strange quest. it requires lvl 45 to start and the final enemy is a 43 or so ape (lovely but untameable) prowl 3 isn't in my list of tamed spells. i wonder if itll be in my list when i reach 50? ill post when i do. edit. i see someone else noticed this. but didn't post whether the skill is actually there at lvl 50.
