Easiest match between would be a cat.Since patch 1.9 Mazzaranche(sorry if wrong spelling), he has been boosted in speed. That doesn't change anything.Out of EVERY hunter in EVERY server...there is a 65% chance of most having a cat of some sort.I know a lot of lvl 56+ hunters having thos aqua and purple cats around which is really common now-a-days.
The whole main reason Tallstiders are less useful is because they have less attacks(only Bite and Dash, Dash obtained only at lvl 30+)than others(other than Crocs which only have Bite).
But don't get me wrong, I saw a lvl 60 pet Mazz...w/e u call it(that pink flamingo). So yes, some are obsessed with them(like a lvl 60 'flamingo') and others think their...goofy.

It makes me laugh to see the 12 years olds with their "Striders suck!" comments here.  I have an Ornery Plainstrider and he's a great pet (and I've tamed on three Hunter just about everything you can tame).  High health - second only to a Bear, DPS as high as a Wolf or Carrion Bird and a 1.3 attack speed which is as fast as most Cats.  He can take way more of a beating from adds than any Cat and do more damage than a Bear (and with faster hits).  Yeah, he doesn't have a special skill yet, but Bite, Growl and Dash are plenty.  He always has enough focus to get off another growl without a special skill or Claw hogging it all.  He make look a little goofy, but looks aren't everything.  Oh, and as far as diet goes, cheese, fruit and fungus drops a lot more than you think off humanoid mobs.

He's a level 6 loyalty who currently has 1021 armor, Almost twice as much as I do. He also has 10 less HPs, and MOST of his stats are much better than mine. Just some food for thought.

I love having these two, Mazz is defintely more flashy but the Clutch Mother gets my pick. Beware though taming the Clutch Mother is difficult b/c of her knock down, be patient.

Plainstriders are hardcore pets, and when they learn dash they are swift killers and equally comparable to the million of "kitty cats" other hunters use.

Probably won't do much with that character, but it's kind of cool just having the chickens. I've seen a couple 60s with the flamingo around, but no one with the mutha'. I named my Clutchmother "BadMother" 'cause she was so annoying to tame... and her HP is 666, lol.

But yeah, I hope they add some more species abilities soon. Some kind of Kick ability would work well for striders/raptors, I think. More love for underused pets, plz k thx!
