You can get the screech from the condors in westfall... should be easy to tame since they are a level 13... good luck..
also in the shimmering flats there is a condor with screech level 2...

The only difference between carrion birds and wolves is the racial special. Birds get screech, which is better for solo PvE and grinding. Wolves get Howl, which is better for endgame raids and instances. Statlines are /identical/ save for the racial abilities.

Carrion Birds have medium-all around stats, which mean they have better armor and health than a bat or bird. They also eat fish and meat, an easy diet. And Spiteflayer, the fast attacker of the family, has a mighty 1.2 attack speed.
They're a very solid pet that is sadly ignored.

There were lists of all the Tameable mobs and thier stats/skills. Now I can't seem to find them. Could someone tell me if they've moved or just been deleted?

carrion birds are actually (in my opinion) better than the 2, bats get screech dive and bite, owls get screech dive and claw, carrions get screech dive bite and claw, whoever said that bats and owls give better bonuses obviously has no idea what they are talking about
Carrion Birds are great to hold agro, even a MM speced with epics and TSA. If u have growl and screech your bird can hold your agro preety good.
Wolves are good too but their racial spec is better for group with a mele.
If u are looking for screech like i do, i think carrion birds betas bats & owls because they are easy to feed (fish/meat) and they have more armour, that is the thing u need if u want your pet survive. Doesn't matter how hard the pet hits on pve u need to hold agro, u are the one who kill the mobs, not your pet, so a carrion bird with growl and screech is all u need.
i don't know what you people are talking about by saying 'hard to tame' i went down to westfall and tamed it in one try, these haev good armor. not as good sa crabs but still pretty nice.
I just tamed a lvl 36 carrion bird in Desolace (by the Kodo Graveyard), fed it 14 pieces of cured ham steak (over time while we quested), and the damned thing is still loyalty lvl 1 (Rebellious).
Its a pet with attitude, though, and I'll be keeping it.
I have a level 30 Hunter and I would like to have a carrion but with the Dive ability and the screech ability. Now tell me: Do Salt flats Scavengers have them both??
I am a lvl 36 Hunter and wanted to find a good looking bird. Even though it's really a vulture, the Death Swoop (iir I think that's the correct name) is dead sexy in it's full black attire. Found some near the center of the zone that were 36-37, while others were around lvl 33 in the northern section. It came with dive, but not screech (I had Screech R1 from one in Westfall though).
Comparing it to other pets i've tried, this one holds aggro just as well as my cat. Additional armor makes it easy if a patrolling beast gets aggro on it as well. So far I've used both growl and screech, but now I must try out if screech holds aggro too. Using both at the same time seems to drain the pet's focus fairly heavily so it would be nice to drop one or the other.
Question: Dive doesn't stack with the beast master's +30% speed buff right? I didnt notice a huge difference when using it or not.
which is more for pvp carrion or wolf?

shit, im a lvl 22 troll hunter and i got my wolf when he was lvl 9, now he is 21 and he kicks ass. the damg he does is good and he is fast, so he can get a runing person in PvP, im not and would never give up my wolf for anything, he is to kick ass
i have a 13 night elf hunter and im questing in Westfall, i tamed one of those carrion birds but he doesnt have any moves.. i dont know why. hes only level 11..
Quick Question: where is the highest level Carrion Bird found?
Long Discussion: Im a 60 Hunter, and I've decided the 3 best pets to have are a Wolf, a Boar and a Carrion Bird. All of them are solid pets, with good ballances of armor and dmg. They can all hold aggro well, and they can all learn 4 abilities. Wolves get Bite, Dash, Growl and Furious Howl, they are best when grouping for a n instance, mellee player will appreciate it. Boars get Bite, Dash, Growl, and Charge, they are good for solo play and pvp. Remember that Charge needs a running start to use, so pull your Boar to you, then back in when it coolsdown. Carrion Birds get Bite, Claw, Dive (bassically Dash for flying beasts) and Screech. They can dish out the most dmg and Screech is a great bebuff in PVP. Keep all 3 of them in your stable, train them well, handle them well and know when to switch them, the biggest complaint other players have with Hunters is that we don't handle our pets well.
guys i was in Westfall with my Night EWlf rogue and my m8 we were questing about and a lvl 25 Rare completely Black carrion bird slaughters us from behind so we both get or high lvl chars and we kick his ass but that was a little while ago and since then ive made a hunter guys does anyone know this birds name i would really like for my pet but i am aware that he is extreemely rare and he can spawn anywhere not just in Westfall if you could tell me his name and the main places he spawns and how long in-between each re-spawn that would be very helpful for my quest for the bigges killer bird pet thx ^.^ also you guys are forgetting that turtles are technically the best tankers they have low damage and they have the highest are also they have Shell Shield at a low lvl(to unlock this go to Wailing Caverns West and down abit from Crossroads i.e Barrens and capture him in there to unlock Shell Sheild you must be over lvl 20 to capture him but at lvl 15 you can get your first turtle in one of the oasis' in Barrens there are loads under the water lvl 15-16 turtles they are great and you dont see many people with them even though they are great looking and good tankers GET A TURTLE ALL!!!
The birds name is vultros and it drops a really sweet dagger weapon that can sell for 20 gold!!!
now i have heard of vultros i know he is n westfall i know it drops a dagger i just want to know WHERE HE SPAWNS?
is there any lvl 21 Carrion birds???
Thnx!
if u get a small pet does it grow bigger every lvl?
Correct me if Im wrong. But my understanding is that pets grow 1% for every level that you have them. I have a level 60 crab that I tamed when it was level ten, and the thing is ginormous. But I also have a level 60 cat that I tamed when it was level 50. Its large but not as large as other level 60 cats I see around, probably because they were tamed earlier and mine was tamed relatively recent.
If you get a small pet it does not get bigger or taller or grow! it sucks but hey, the smaller, the cuter! lol
In fact, if you tame a bat at early levels and use it a lot, it does, in fact, grow to be quite large. Kinda sucks, really.
Why dont you just teach it that!!!!!!!
there`s a new look of birds in hellfire peninsula,outland. description:two heads,armored.
its a she and when tamed its not longer immune to freeze traps. still looks sweet though.
Ugh, well I tamed one of these guys the other day, I have to say, they do VERY well, buy he only problem is, he gets in the way with his big wings. In the higher levels, (Im level 66, BTW..) they get to be so big that they are constantly flapping in your face and it is hard to target mobs.. or anything for that matter. But I suppose that it is all up to you to choose whether or not you want a Carrion bird, if you can tolerate the constant flapping in your face, then good for you. :P
No, they never learn that stunning ability.
Totally agree with you on the wing flapping - relly gets in the way.
both claw and screech are instant so they deal out good damage in a short time, but sins they are instant they use the up the pets focus in a flash. so best to only have one of those abilitys active.
screech is very nice couse it lowers the enemys attack-power, so it and you will take less damage.
Bite has a longer cooldown but does more damage than one claw/screech (but in the time ure pet has used 1 bite it might have used claw/screech 3-4 times(if ure specd BM that is)).
You do want dash/dive on your pet(if it can teach it) couse it makes your pet get to the target much faster.
I wanted my bird to have bite/claw instead of dive because I wanted to use it only for groups, and in a group it may not matter how fast my pet is. But I ended up with Bite, claw, screech and dive. No growl. I can let the tanks do their job.
im a lvl 37 dwarf hunter, i ran all over the world to get claw rank 5, dive rank 1 ,bite rank 6 and screech rank 2.
just got a carrion bird lvl 37 from arathi highlands.
im a BM spec and im not going to take growl the screech ability can hold aggro on its own and ill have alot of attacks , i know its gonna drain my pets focus but i dont really care since at lvl 63 ill get the MM talent that gives my little pet focus every crit. maybe it wont be so great but i wanna find out :P
As a hunter taking my lovely Two-headed birdie in raids, The tanks love me, With Scorpid Sting I keep 5% Damage off the tank, and with Screech I keep 6-10% extra off...
Its good in end-games raid people! Melee mobs anyway
Hello Everyone Does anyone know as an orc it says i have +5% pet damage and here it says birds do 7% so does my pet do =11% over the standed damage or does it just hit alitte harder
