I am a warlock with Jewelcrafting and it isnt that bad really.  Then again I am a 54 lock so that could have something to do with it but yeah.

My question is what level am I able to cut gems?  I am having people ask me all the time if i can and i just say "I can do that?!"  I have no idea!!!  Please get back to me on this one!

look for the recipes from the trainer or vendor. Instead of training, try 'browse'.

you can start cutting gems at level 300. but there are only a limited number of patterns for sale and alot of patterns for sale require rep with a certain faction. i.e. aldor, consortium. also, they are not taught by trainers. most high level patterns come from world drops. i am in the same boat, i have 370 jewelcrafting but limited patterns because i refuse to pay 500g from patterns in the auction house. good luck.

Read your message, I have been playing WoW for 3.5 months, I have a Dreani (hope I spelled it right) lvl 31 Pally who is a JC stuck at JC lvl 225 but I have Gem cutting skill already, but my question is, how many patterns are there for this skill and why do they cost so much Gs.  One last thing, how do I get past JC lvl 225

how do you get past 225 skill?,

It seems all profess. when you are "stuck" at skill lvl 225,
& If You are lower then lvl 35,
That is the reason, lvl up to lvl 35 then you will be able to learn more from that profess. trainer.

Also me & my boyfriend both do mining, & i am the JC -between us.
i get all the gems, from mining. i have been stocking up on gems since i started JC, which was when i was prob lvl 10.

Ive been fortunate enough, to where ppl ive made friends with know im a JC & all their Gems go to me. Lower gems & the better ones as well.

I am currently 346 JC & im working on rep. to recieve more designs for my profession.

I believe GemCutting is the same as turning rough gems into a socket gem. Which has not been Clearly noted here.

realistically, you dont make much money off the sub 300 jc recipes for rings and necklaces. it is handy to be able to make blue jewelry that is better than quest rewards for alts and the like, but it is only when you can cut gems at 300+ that it starts to make some cash. they are correct it is better off started as a 70 when you have some money stashed and the lvl to get all the recipes. running heroics is key, because you get both rep for the reward recipes, and the drop scrolls also. be careful to only buy the new purple epic jc recipes that you can use. they are all bop, and cost at least 10 gold depending on rep. kalees rose for healing and threat loss is one example of a bop that my mage picked up by accident but is useless as i can not cut it for anyone but myself.
