It's a very rare catch from certain high level outlands fishing spots. 3 charges, 2 day cooldown, random effect. effects include: temporary combat pet, a non combat pet, +1200 health 2 hour buff (lasts through death), him attacking you, and a box of potions.

Pinchy is from an episode of The Simpsons named "Lisa Gets an "A"". However, Pinchy dies when Homer gives him a hot bath.

Mr. Pinchy is only fished out of Highland Mixed Schools in Terrokar Forest. There are a total of 17 Highland mixed schools in the three Fly-to only lakes in Terrokar Forest. 3 in the lake above Stonebreaker point (lake Jo'rune), 4 that spawn in the lake just above and behind Allerian Stronghold (Lake Ere'Noru), and 10 in Blackwind Lake/Skettis/Skethyll Mountains area. Mr. Pinchy's drop rate appears to be about a 0.2% drop rate on successful casts (about 2 out of 1000 or 1 in 500 casts) so be prepared to spend alot of time on this.

You will need 420 fishing to Cast into the Highland Mixed schools, and about 480 to loot without many "Your fish got away!" messages.
You will no longer receive "Your fish got away!" messages if your fishing skill is 525 fishing or higher.

I had the games max limit of 527 Fishing the 3 times that I have caught him.

+40 Arcanite Fishing Pole (I have the High Test Eternium Fishing Line on it so 35+5=40)

Upon Catching you will get one of the following results (listed in what seems to be the most common results first)

1 - Mr. Pinchy's Gift, contains 4-5 Super Healing, and 4-5 Super Mana potions, this seems to be the most common result of his wishes.
2 - Mr. Pinchy's Blessing, 2-hour 1200hp buff that persists through death!
3 - Furious Mr. Pinchy, Lvl 70 non elite that attacks you and your party, is not lootable.
4 - Benevolent Mr. Pinchy, Lvl 70 Guardian that assists you for 10 minutes
5 - Magical Crawdad Box, summons a Magical Crawdad non-combat pet, very rare
considering such a low drop rate on Mr. Pinchy to begin with, and then only 3 chances to get this box. Otherwise, time to try to get Mr. Pinchy again for another 3 chances!

There are 17 pools in the set, any of which may spawn. These pools are spread across 3 different lakes, so don't expect to continually fish from one lake.

Each pool will typically respawn 60-65 minutes after it was last fished (emptied). It is very unlikely to respawn in less than 40 minutes, but will sometimes take as long as 90 minutes.

There is a maximum number of pools that will be visible at one time across the set, regardless of time since last catch. This number increases slowly with time when no fishing occurs, up to six. If you fish pools in quick succession the number tends to decline, until you are searching for just one pool.

Caught with 375 fishing skill, +20 fishing rod, +5 fishing line, and a +100 fishing lure.

I think as long as you can fish out of the pools, he has a shot of showing up.

EDIT: I fished out another one the evening I fished out my first one.  Same pool, about 10-12 hours difference in time.  I still have yet to use the wish, but after reading below, it looks like they will share cooldown timers.  They are not unique, though, so you can have more than one Mr. Pinchy in your bags.

Fished out my 3rd Mr. Pinchy this morning.  I didn't realize it's been 1.7 months since I fished out the prior 2.  I was getting lonely without him.  =P  I'll post my wish results after I use them this weekend.

I fished out Mr. Pinchy #4 less than 2 days after using my 3rd wish on my 3rd Mr. Pinchy, and it remembered the cooldown on it...so I still have 13 hours until I can use Mr. Pinchy #4.  Hoping for the pet.../sigh.

Finally got one today... unleashed it in elwyn forest lolz.. killed 30+ noobies trying to kill it... you've GOT to do this when u use the Mr Pinchy... dont forget to fraps it!

Got mine the other day. Was so stunned it took me about 20 seconds of staring at it before I finally looted. Had 375 skill, 20+ pole and 100+ lure. Got the pet on the third wish! 1st was the pots then 2nd was blessing. Damn heart attack!

Anyway, I know a lot of people think that this is a reference to Homer Simpson's Mr. Pincy, however, after watching an episode of Johnny Bravo I think the reference is only in name.

Johnny Bravo episode called Claws.
At the start, a fish monger gets a batch of lobsters to sell, however one is intent on escaping. After being threatened by the monger the lobster exclaims "You gotta catch me first!"
Then Johnny turns up wanting 'Fishticks' (made from Golden Darters also caught in Terokkar). The monger, wanting rid of this rogue lobster gives it to Johnny for free.
When trying to throw the lobster into boiling water it resists saying to Johnny that he would give him 3 wishes if he didn't kill him. Throughout the rest of the episode Johnny and the lobster continue to fight. At one point Johnny is lying at the bottom of the stairs and when he sees the lobster about to throw a wardrobe (yes suspend your disbelief!) at him he says "This is gonna pinch!"
Funny episode actually! Brings a smile to my face when I see the Mr. Pinchy references :D

When I heard tell of good ol' Mr. Pinchy, I set out to get me one. Sure, my fishing was only 444 (324 + 20 pole + 100 lure), but dammit, I was gonna get me a Magical Crawdad pet. This is Serious Business.

I landed at Lake Ere'Noru. I tossed a line into the first pool I saw. I hauled out Mr. Pinchy. Blink. Blink. Blink.

First wish was a dud. Die, you pinchy bastard. Ditto the second wish. I'd completely forgotten I even had him in my bags and spotted him days later while in the AH. I thought, wth, why not summon yet another attacking crawdad for my amusement?

Flashy explosion. Nada. No Pinchy? Check log. "You create Magical Crawdad Box."

... now if only I could get that &%*&**&% firefly.

As most of us know, fishing can get extremely boring. Whether you're catching food for cooking or skill-levelling, you inevitably get into a hazy routine of cast, loot, cast, loot, cast, loot...

So I was in such a routine yesterday. Cast, loot, cast, loot, cast, loot.. Suddenly I got Mr. Pinchy: "Looting this item will bind it to you. Okay?" Cast... NOOOOO!

The habitual cast cancelled the loot, so Mr. Pinchy was gone.
So a warning if you're in a cast, loot, cast, loot routine, your mind is wandering and you're not really thinking of the fishing: you may just be robbed of Mr. Pinchy if you don't stay alert.

It kinda sucks that a fished item gives the 'equip=bind' message, as there's no circumstances I can think of where you wouldn't loot.

Quick update I have yet to see, I got 1 pinchy and used 1 wish, got a second pinchy and then had 2 in my inventory.  It showed 3 wishes and 2 on the other one.  When I used the 2nd wish it also ticked off one of the 3 on the other one.  So if you have 2 or more, stick the others in the bank and pull 1 out when you burn through the 3 wishes.  My pet dropped on the 4th wish.
So if you have more than 1 Mr. Pinchy in your bags and use it, you will lose 1 wish off of all of them.

After fishing out the schools over 2 days, I got Mr.Pinchy and the pet on first wish, guess that's lucky compared to some, keep at it though, I'd say getting the sewer rat was worse (took about 3000 casts for that over a period of 5-6 days)

My casts at all 3 lakes are roughly about 100 according to fisher buddy addon, so all in all about 300 casts.

To catch Pinchy I used the kalu'ak rod from exalted (enchanted with +3 line from quest) and +100 lure.

Oh and and if you jump from lake to lake, you should find there's usually always at least 1 school there, especially if you're the only one fishing for Pinchy.

I have been fishing everyday about an hour a day and have yet to see the elusive Pinchy!  He several hundred crawdads and nothing.  just keep trying!

I got Mr. Pinchy with about 250 fishing skill, using the +100 lure.  So much for the myth of needing to meet some leet fishing skill requirement, and wear a special shirt, and a certain color socks, and stand on your head while doing the hokie pokie, etc etc etc.

Mr. Pinchys Blessing seems to give +1300hp, and not 500 or 1200 as stated on this page (WoW version is 3.2).



This effect also gives a healthy red color to the mount and character :)

Got him on my second "session" of farming, still leveling fishing so my effective skill with lure was about 430. Took probably 250 catches until he showed up, in Skettis.

got mr pinchy yesterday after about 1hr of fishing.  got lucky on the 1st wish and got the non combat pet.  i was 305 fishing skill with the lucky pole and a sharpened fish hook.

now for that damned sea turtle in howling fjord.
