How do you figure Terokk's Quill is a better Hunter weapon than the Sonic Spear?

    Sonic Spear
    97 RAP
    +0.9% crit
    +1.4% hit

    Terokk's Quill
    54 RAP
    +1.4% crit

You'd have to be pushing 3500 raidbuffed RAP for 19 Agi to overtake 43 RAP. Not to mention that, unless your hit-rating is greater than 136 without either spear, +hit is the way to go.

Some really picky Survival hunters may want to pick up Terokk's Quill over Sonic Spear if they're trying to stuff their gear with agility. The more agility they have, the more effective their Expose Weakness becomes. Giving up that AP difference for the agility in a raid environment results in other people in the raid doing more damage, which overall means that the entire raid is doing more damage than if the hunter had grabbed the AP.

Personally, when I specced Survival for a while, I prefered SS and slapping on a +35 agil enchant, but that's just me.

It's nice to actually read a post with a little common sense in it.

I have a 70 Survival Hunter and I chose Terokk's (with a +35 agi enchant) over Sonic Spear.  The primary reason being, as mentioned in the above post, is for Expose Weakness.  I know have (unbuffed) 610 armor which translates to ~153 bonus attack power to my tank and melee dps when I crit which, with a 27.56% to crit, is quite often.  Additionally, I'm a trap whore.  Yeah, I know, everyone seems to think hunters are good for Freezing Trap and Misdirection but when it comes down to the last 10% on the boss and the healer is almost OOM, you bet your ass I'm going to run in, drop immolation trap, whack'em once or twice and run back to ranged.  Hunters have abilities other than shooting an arrow/bullet/bolt and all that agility greatly improves them.

As for PvP... Rogues must have a bounty out for me.  If I can manage to dodge that one OP 94,000 off-hand 1.2dps dagger non-crit strike, then I have a chance to Scatter Shot, trap, send pet, etc.  Yeah, I still die but maybe I'll get that rogue to burn a cd or just annoy him a bit :)
