"Classes with stealth abilities have it a litle easier if you're solo. The patrolling giants however will easily see through shadowmeld. It is virtually impossible for any class to solo a giant; it hits too hard, has too much hp, and you'd need a world of space to kite him."

Warlocks rejoice -- the elite giant pats are fearable, and do not aggro any other mobs in the area.

That being said, they have tons of HP, so it takes forever to fearkite them dead. Always clear the immediate vicinity of water elementals before fishing so you have a little room with which to roam. I try to avoid the giants as much as I can, but sometimes I can't.
