It's not really rare. First of, everytime i goes there he's there. Unless I kill him.
Second, Washte Pawne are just Like Owatanka and Lakota'mani. All three drops a "This items starts a quest" item. The quest you get from all three are returned to Jorn Skyseer in Camp Taurajo.
As far as I know, Washte Pawne is one of only 3 rare or elite wind serpents in the whole game, the others being in Barrens and Swamp of Sorrows. Any more out there?
No, thexe is also a white rarespawn in Feralas, in the NW.
Could someone please give me the coordinates of Washte Pawne? I have been looking for him for a couple of days and have yet to see him.
Just tamed him. Found him south of Camp Taurajo. Head south along path until the t-off path to Dustwallow, he was just to the right off the path.He's a lovely red colour & comes with lightening lvl 3

Coupled with Go For The Throat it can be a pretty good killer. On WSG where they skirmish in the middle just spam Multishot, get a few crits and it'll immediately use it's Lightning Breathe.
And MAN does he own. The directions south of Camp T near the Dustwallow marsh path is correct.
He was 25 and I tamed with the help of a fellow hunter. Two freeze traps in a row, tamed him without a single hit.
Just his lightning+dps is enough to hold aggro with me having a 11.8dps bow at 25.
He definitely out DPS's my Mist Wolf (rare wolf spawn in Ashenvale)

I was so lucky i simply just ran around the designated area on the map and for about 10 minutes i searched and found him. I scrambled to my abandon on my previous pet and after two tries i taimed him. <Yes!>

Venomous Cloud Serpent has same armor, hp and dps as this gorgeous red one, and has also lightning lvl 3 when tamed. And it's not a caster either as you might think. The only diffrerence is that this serpent is green and easier to get ^^ Got bored waiting for the red serpent to spawn so i started searching for ohter alternatives :D Good luck taming your beast
I love this guy. He murders in WSG, and in duels against people who spam duels on other people because they think they will win everytime. If you're looking for him, he's almost always around Blackthorn Ridge (the quilboar pig-men place in Southern Barrens), or on the other side of the path surrounded by a whole bunch of other aggressive beasts near the dwarf dig site. He knew Lighting Bolt V3 when I tamed him, and I don't plan on taming another serpent for a while.

I tamed BOTH Washte Pawne and Azzere the Skyblade to see which was better. Disappointing that Azzere's fearce fire attack is not a tameable ability, cuz it does tons of damage. I leveled up the two to 29 and trained Azzere with Washte Pawne's Lightning Breath. Even with Lightning Breath trained to Azzere, he still doesn't seem to be quite as good an overall pet as Washte Pawne. Azzere is better looking with his deep red color and does slightly more damage, but Washte Pawne holds up better in tough battles. At least that's been my experience.
Here are the stats of these two rare wind serpents at level 29:
Washte Pawne: Strength-60, Agility-50, Stamina 149, Intellect 24, Spirit-41, Power-135, Damage-45-55, Armor-2030
Azzere: Stength-57, Agility-44, Stamina-142, Intellect-51, Spirit-49, Power-129, Damage-53-65, Armor-1788
As you can see, Azzere has much high Intellect than Washte Pawne, but Pawne has higher Stamina and Armor. I'm not experienced enough at playing the Hunter char to know if Intellect is very helpful to pets. What does Intellect even do for pets anyway?
Hope this helps. If you decide to get Azzere you really should also tame Washte Pawne just to get Lightning Breath and train it to Azzere as I did. A wind serpent with Rank 3 Lightning Breath is hands down the best pet for level 25-40, in my experience.

The pet you are talking about has 'caster' stats, which are inferior to other pets, they have 20% less armor, and 20% less health, their int/spirit stats are useless. Check out --http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/articles/stats_casters.shtml-- for more info.
I just used 1 hour trying to find this guy , but he never spawned where he should. And yes , I was looking in the right place. I killed him 5 times before on my other chars.

Found him at 46, 79, after almost an hour of searching up and down the road.
I'm a 46 hunter. Is there a reason to train up Washte from 26 or is it just better to get another level 46 Rogue Vale Screecher?
He found me just south of the silithid mounds and just west of the road, for those without coordinates (I had Titan Panel disabled at the time). Had to kill him instead of taming (lvl 22 hunter), but will head back to that area in a few levels I think.

Azzere has ONLY the adantage of an increased 5% spell crit, and lower stats everywhere else. I have a hunter twink currently with Azzere and a Venomous Wind serpent ( which im told has the same stats as washt ) at lvl 29. I still use azzere most of the time just to show him off.

Found him after 10 mins searching. A Blood elf just missed him!
Taking him training in the Wetlands and he seems good. Can solo raptors a good few lvls higher than himself.

WOOT got him last night!!!!! I had a very nice level 70 pallidan go with me very happy with her (its my pet so its now a girl) all I have 2 do is lvl up 29 get a really awsome name and rule BGs (ty 4 the referance the page helped ALOT!) : D

Hi i have capped this pet and i know it comes with lightening, but according to the guide, it can also learn Dive at lvl 30, how do i get that, my pet is already lvl 33 but still dont have that skill. Can some1 PLEASE tell me ?
If the previous poster is still looking for how to get Dive 1 on his windserpent that didn't come with Dive, you need to tame a different pet that does come with Dive, play with it for a bit until you pick up that skill yourself, then train it to your windserpent...WoW Hunter 101...
Dive 1 is available from pets as early as level 26 in fact - 2 different bats in Razorfen Kraul...there's another there at level 27 too. Above that starting at level 31 there's a variety of carrion birds, windserpents and another bat that can give you the skill in areas as diverse as Dustwallow Marsh, Uldaman, Badlands and Arathi Highlands. Good hunting!
I've been trying to get this thing for for about two hours now. I found him once but the lil bugger didn't drop the item to start the quest. How long does it take for him to respawn?
okay so this isnt just a pvp pet,when i first got him i started to run back to ratchet...killing a few mobs on the way he kept aggro the whole time..but i didnt train growl yet(i know im a noob)so i guess lightning breath give alot of aggro so washte is an all around good pet
waisted 30min off my life i just couldnt find him :(
BTW guys hes not a rare spawn, i tamed him a few minutes ago and there was no silver dragon round his portrait so hes anames mob but not a rare ;D
