Why would I want to be a Jewelcrafter?
I'm a holy paladin and I have Blacksmithing (wich I realy like) and mining, but mining doesn't like give u anything special like BS does (items that require Hammersmith for example).
I was thinking of dumping mining and taking another proffession, but wich one?
Now my real question is: does being a Jewelcrafter give you any special advantages?

This post is faded because it has a negative score.

I took JCing for my BG char to get the BoP JC trinkets (mana owl, golden hare, ruby serpent, attack boar, etc)

Most of the stuff you make up to 300 skill will not AH well since (on our server) the market is flooded with these lowbie items.  So I DE'd mine instead and sell the enchanting mats.

Her second prof is BSing since I wanted a char that could attach shield spikes, counterweights, and spurs, but I have a 70 that can mine/smelt for her and supply her with ore to prospect. As the previous poster pointed out, you need a source of smelted ore to JC.  But JCing is totally worth it.  She makes a good bit of money for me cutting gems while I wait around for bg's to start.  The recipes are expensive, but pay for themselves in short order.

As an aside, there are obviously quite a few recipes she does not have since she cannot farm rep with the various outlands factions, but the five or six she can cut do pretty well.

      Hope that helps!

Dont forget the mighty BoP gems that you can cut...+_26 healing, +18 stam, spell dam, spell crit, weapon damage  and so on....as a Holy Pally with several sets of armour, the choices are almost endless...much better than for a melee or straight  spell dam class.
      cheers
