I'm a dagger rogue on a pve server so Alliance is no problem. I was able to easily handle this at level 31... even as a melee class.

Your best friends here are going to be crippling poison and a whole lotta bandages. I have 225 first aid so I can buy and use heavy runecloth bandages meaning I only need about 5 seconds to fill my life back up to full.

Try to clear the solo patrols around the linked pairs first. Then stealth and sap one of the paired stone guards once you've cleared the patrols. Use the time to take the other stone guard out. Their shield, once you have timing down, is no problem. It announces itself with a sound (the same sound you hear when you skill up at a trainer) before it goes up fully giving you plenty of time to back away or untarget if you pay attention and look for it. Even if it gets up fully before you can stop attacking or back away I've only ever hit the shield three times, meaning you'll take 255dmg in a worst case scenario. Once it's it's up you'll have plenty of time to bandage to full health if you need or to begin your ranged attack.

The best way to take the stone guards out fast is to open with Cheap Shot, Backstab, Gouge, Backstab, Kidney Shot, Backstab, Eviscerate. For me that formula equalled a very quick demise for the Stone Guard and usually without even allowing them to pull up their shield spell even once. I am not entirely sure but I believe that when stunned they can't get their shield off. They can proc it in the short time between stuns but if you are fast and have good timing you can keep their window of opportunity very small indeed.

I haven't noticed any corelation between percentage of health and the shield spell proc so I beleive it is a random event with a high percentage chance to proc in general, meaning they can get it off whenever as long as they are not incapacitated. Try to keep them incapacitated.

The crippling poison handles running. At 50% movement and 20% health you can take them out long before they can bring their buddies into the mix.

Conditions never stay optimal though, and chances are you will find yourself having to face two or three at a time while an annoying out of sight caster throws phantoms at you like a Congo line at a bad wedding. Don't panic. The phantoms hit for minimal damage at best. Even a crit from them is less than 40dmg. All they really do is keep you from bandaging. Focus on the guards. If you're facing multiples be ready to switch targets when you hear the sound announcing their shield going up. Take them out as fast as possible. Continue to ignore the phantoms and go take the caster out once the guards are down. If you get well and truly overwhelmed, vanish and try again.

I was able to survive a 3-on-1 and even one 4-on-1 using these guidelines.
