Maybe the hunter want +30 int to both of them... that's 60 int we're talking 'bout, 15mp5 with Aspect of the Viper, 900 mana, 27 ranged attack power ( for MM hunter )... I think this x2 beats the most 2h out there ( with these enchants, they are very cheap enchants... 'bout 80g each )

    Well...

    Felsteel Longblade
    BoE
    1-h            Sword
    128 - 239 dmg        Speed 2.20
    ( 83.4 dps )
    +26 agility
    +15 stamina
    < +30 intellect >
    Durability 105 / 105
    Req lvl 70
    Item lvl 105

    Well...

A regular hunter has about 1.4k melee attack power at 70 ( I think ) ( I'm not saying you melee that much ), that's an increase in dps of 100, lets say:

    83.4 dps + 100 dps = 183.4 dps, and 183.4 / 2 = 91.7

That's 183.4 dps in main hand and 91.7 dps in offhand...
    275.1 dps in total...

    Now to stats:

    One gives +26 agility, 15 stamina <and> 30 intellect
    Two gives +52 agility, 30 stamina <and> 60 intellect

Now lets take Terokk's Quill, the spear that the guy above me talked about:

    Terokk's Quill
    BoP
    2-h         Polearm
    246 - 370 Dmg Speed 3.30
    (93.3 damage per second)
    +54 Agility
    +33 Stamina
    < +70 attack power > or < +35 agility >
    Durability 100 / 100
    Item Level 115

    Well... lets have a look:

    93.3 dps + 100 dps = 193.3 dps, that's 81.8 lower than dw'ing the blades...

    Now stats:

    +54 agility
    +33 stamina
    < +70 attack power >

    or

    +54 agility
    +33 stamina
    < + 35 agility >

    =

    +89 agility
    +33 stamina

    Now comparing:

    The blades:                                                    Terokk's Quill

    275.1 dps                                                      193.3 dps      ( 81.8 -)
    +52 agility                            vs                      +89 agility    ( 37+)
    +30 stamina                                                  +33 stamina  ( 3+)
    +60 intellect                                                                        ( 60-)

Well... we see the difference = The Felsteel Longblades are better, but much more expensive...

    81.8 higher dps with blades
    37 less agility
    3 less stamina
    60 more intellect

I think it's worth sacrificing 37 agi and 3 stam for 81.8 dps and 60 intellect ( 900 mana, 15mp5 with Viper and 27 ranged attack power with MM spec )

Changing the enchant, then removing the enchant for the the 2h does not count as an argument point.  do not forget the 2h weapons can have int enchants too...

      hi there,

you did make a missconception at saying that the meelee dps with the two blades would be higher...which they wouldnt. Simply due to the dual wield hit penalty of 19%. Even as a full PvE-raid-hunter you wont have more than 9% tohit...it just makes no sense for hunters (no raid-hunter with 9% hit would wield either of these weapon choices...but hey!) which leaves you with 0% misses with the Quill and 15% misses with the blades. This affects white dmg only, but only fr white dmg the blades would come anywhere close to the Quill.
The real numbers in meelee dps would look far away from that calculation however, because of any hunter who knows what hes doing throwing in a single raptor while runnig past will be ~50% of all meelee. And Raptor is much better with the Quill.

What you say about dual +30 int entchants is perfectly right and these are great, especially as a Marksman with AotV active, but you can use ANY combination of one/main/off-handed weapons for that pupose and the difference between any lvl68-70 quest dagger and these is non-existant for a hunter, as the only difference will be the meelee dps which are just totaly out of interest.

With the upcoming 2.2 patch changes of AotV hunters wont have viper active all the time, but only when their mana-level is low (as any non-lazy hunter has done it until now already), which makes an int-dual-wield equip only suitable for switching...and therefore you wont need epic weapons as a hunter....really.

Besides that, manapotions solve any manatrouble a hunter might ever run into as long as he knows that spamming stings and arcane shot isnt anywhere close to dpsing...especially since hunter is the only class in the game that can use fel-manapots without any drawbacks...what makes a pure int equip even more obsolete.

The only and really only reason a hunter would choose these that i can see would be the looks...the only situations a hunter ever needs extra hp from weapons is in PvP...and two-handed weapons have always had the edge over dual-wielding for hunters in PvP for many reasons...its not only the raptor strike. if you can live without the extra hp, even the good old hakkari warblades are still quite eqivalent for a hunter...and look better.

A note to looks: Female Nightelves still suffer a glitch from the adjustment of the backmounted mainhand...the offhand will still be in the same place es before...which makes dual backmounted weapons look bad on female nightelves atm imho. And considering it took Blizzard 3 years to adjust the mainhand slot in the first place, i wouldnt bet on them making the offhand look right any time soon...

      just my 2 cents.

      Chanrek,

You are still missing one important point.  Hunters don't like melee.  While the DPS is better with the dual wield, losing the agility really hurts a hunter when they are using the bow.  Being a hunter, I get out of melee as soon as possible.  With the cost being so high, dual blading these would not be worth it at all.  On top of that, the agility would make a hunter (and his pet for BM) much stronger with Terrokks Quill.
