By the way. I don't even get why we have to kill Illidan. What did he ever do to us? I mean, he was released, he only took up the demonic power to fight back the other demons. But noooo, it seems Malfurion doesn't want to defeat the demons, so he exiles Illidan, who did nothing but give up his elvenhood for the sake of his friends. Then, he gets told to kill the Lich King. The Lich King is our enemy too. He raises a group of naga to kill the Lich King. The Warden, (I don't know how to spell her name so I'll just call her Warden) gets in his way. Illidan did nothing, it was the Warden's fault. Then Illadin goes and rescues Tyrande, the leader of the Night Elves. This further shows that Illadin isn't a bad guy. He then helps the Blood Elves when he could have left them to die. He takes down a demon Pit Lord, we are still enemies with the demons. He then gets yelled at by a demon, and tries again to kill the Lich King, who is still our enemy as well. He then gets WTF PWNed by Arthas and somehow escapes back to Outland. I'm not seeing a big list of reasons why we need to kill this guy... I mean, Kael, he has it coming, siding with the Burning Legion, but Illidan, he is at war with our 2 biggest enemies, the Burning Legion, and the Scourge.
Good point. Illidan never did anything to us. He saved Azeroth, like what, 3 times?
1. Killed Azzinoth
2. Helped out with saving the world in WC3: RoC
3. Got Arthas to stop raping the Eastern Kingdoms in WC3: TFT
Now he owns Outland and we've decided to move in and take his land! We're like colonists, he and his crew are like the natives. We make him look like a bad guy for defending himself and now we're ordered to kill him.
Hooray to Blizzard for using real world concepts in WoW!
Guys guys please vote this up so others can see it too I know I'm gonna get grey but well I'm gonna post this information anyway.
Arcane magic if reckless used and widely used drags the attention of demons from the twisting nether.
Illidan saved a bit of the sunwell and made a new one. The consequences of that is that the habitants of Azeroth could still use arcane magic if they had the knowledge. However at that time it was almost only the night elves who were able to use arcane magic and they were forbidden to do so. But 7300 years before the first orcs came to Azeroth the former highborne led by Dath'Remar Sunstrider unleashed a terrible storm on Ashenvale just to show that there magic was superior and they were not gonna obey the law of some druids.
Now quoting from wowwiki.com:
The druids could not bring themselves to put so many of their kin to death, so they decided to exile the reckless Highborne from their lands. Sunstrider and his followers boarded a number of specially crafted ships and set sail upon the seas. By now the Highborne were glad to be rid of their conservative cousins and free to practice the arcane with impunity.
But they encountered problems, they founded their capital city Silvermoon in a sacred Forest Troll area and they suffered heavy losses against the trolls. They made a deal with the humans that if they helped they would teach 100 of them how to use arcane magic. In a huge battle together with the humans and their 100 human mages they managed to win a big victory and the trolls were pushed back and has to this day not recovered.
But unfortunatly the humans were not so carefull with there arcane magic use and soon dragged the attention of the Burning Legion. This led eventually to the invasion of the orcs, the invasion of the Scourge and the return of Sargeras himself and his demon minions.
So Illidan is not that innocent. He is indirect responsible for:
The First War (Warcraft I)
The Second War (Warcraft II)
The Third War (Warcraft III)
But I still think it's sad that Blizzard made the most popular character in wow lore a raidboss that only 0.01 % of the wow players has acces to.
He also has done some evil things in Outland after WC3 TFT but that does not count because the BC lore is entirely screwed up.
If the humans or (other races for that matter) would not have used more arcane magic the demons would not be able to open a portal to Azeroth no matter how angry they were.
nice story indeed!
but he still must be downed regardless to what he is ,for the 1 simple reason= FAT LOOT.
hehehehehe
yeah kill illidan and loot your TR6 or the sowrds then come and talk about how inoccent he may be.
as a Night elf druid i feel not at all betrayed by him ,and wish there was a way to join him aginst the burning legion and the sgaras .but there is not.
but then again what he drops makesfor it.
ps. i think the one i have fun downing is archimonde, for destroying the city and more.

Uhhh...yaaaaaaaaa no. Illidan doing all that did NOT make him responsible for the orcs. The orcs were on a WHOLE different world before they came to Azeroth. And they could actually use arcane magic without the Well. The Well simply HELPED. Don't you wonder why people can use arcane magic in WoW, yet there aren't any Wells? Unless you count the Sunwell, which is btw DEFILED and the Maelstrom, and thats well...the Maelstrom...and remaining quel'dorei making a giant storm over Ashenvale has nearly nothing to do with the Well of Eternity, save that they didn't want the night elves turning it into a giant tree.
umm... all 3 wars were indirectly caused so hes not really at fault, u cnt
just to clarify how the overuse of magic led to the first orc invasion, by overusing magic humans brought the burning legion, led by Sargeras, to azeroth.
in order to fight the demons the Order of Tirisfal (a select group of powerful mages) created "The Guardian", a sigle being, chosen and imbued with imence power, and the guardian was charged with fighting the legion in a secret war.
this went on for thousands of years, untill the guardian Aegwynn, she was the one who fought the great Sargeras and she defeted him, at least his physical form, Sargeras hid his soul within Aegwynns' womb. Aegwynn then took sargeras' body and locked it within one of the ancient elven temples (lost in the sea due to the sundering of the world) and enchanted it so that no demon or being of azeroth could retrieve it
she used her powers to live for about 800 years, eventually the order demanded that she pass her power on, she refused to be controlled by the order, so in a last act of defiance, she seduces one mage known as Nielas Aran and conceived a child, who would be the last guardian
unfortuantly that child, one High Magus Medivh, was overshadowed by the soul of sargeras, thus making the most powerful being in the world also the most evil. medivh hatched a plan to retrieve the body of sargeras, and he found a being that the enchantment protecting it did not effect, the orc. so medivh built the dark portals and convinced the warloc Gul' dan to lead the orcs through to destroy the humans and eventually retrieve the body.
but, soon after the portals opened, medivhs plan was found out by his apprentice, Khadgar, khadgar had to kill medivh, reliesing both souls inside his body, the real medivh returned and is probably not evil anymore (lets hope).
so illy is barely responsible, id put the blame on sargeras
(p.s. i play on the server Medivh, first server to open AQ, eat it every1 else)
So, fighting fire with fire is A-O-Kay
Bush likes wars, I go to the white house and shuff a gun up his arse and shoot. Will I be a hero or will I go to jail?

...Okay, Bush ain't the perfect president, but is that really the answer. I mean, we are gonna vote 'im outta office.
You also forget that Illidan was exiled because he was trying to use the magic of the Well of Eternity to gain ultimate power. He poisoned the World Tree at Hyjal with the last vial of water from the Well of Eternity after it exploded. Don't forget that Sargeras is the one who burned out his eyes and gave him his enhanced powers. He can't be trusted. He does everything for his own gain, no one elses. The fact Azshara has not noticed this brings up some questions.
He came to outland, dethroned Maghteridon, and began building up his forces for an invasion of Azzeroth so he could become it's leader.
He may have saved Azeroth, but he only did it to win the love of Tyrande. Now that he knows she is in love with Malfurion... he's going to try to kill him.
Illidan deserves our respect we should just leave him be.
If we dont kill him then blizzard will do something about it like releasing him into aseroth and kalimodor and then no one will play wow and we will all be forced to GET LIVES

It is very confusing on y Illidian is such a villian yet we must look at the very beginning the time where there was only the Kaldorei (night elves) to worry about. He was the one who contributed to the first invasion of the Burning Legion by preventing Malfurion from stoping Azshara and the Highborn from inviting Sargeras and his demon pals into Azeroth. He was just too addicted to the magical energies of the the Well of Eternity.
But yet he seems to have repaid his dept(in my opinion) by going against the Lich King and Kil'jaeden.
Actually, Illidan went insane, and made war with Shattrath, which is the reason we have to kill him.
He's my answer to your problem. No killing illadin=no legendary swords. Cry all you want but illadin wont just give them to you. We kill him because he's a jerk yes, but mostly because he has very nice drops.
Everyone wants to kill Illidan because he doesn't want to destroy the Legion, he wants to control it. He's just biding his time until somebody goes and does his work for him by killing Kil'jaeden, Kael'thas, Magtheridon, etc. so nobody can stand in his way.
Warden's name is Maiev Shadowsong.
Illidan turned sides after being imprisoned by his brother (For 10 thousand years, i would be pretty pissed too) and joins the Burning Legion, led by no one less than Kil'jaeden, and Kil'jaeden isnt a good guy, and that makes Illidan Stormrage a bad guy aswell, doesnt it?
