In regards to the comment about how the skull shouldn't still exist. Well, Illidan and Magtheradin (or however you spell his name) shouldn't still exist either. Arthas cut Illidan with Frostmourne and if you get hit with Frostmourne, you're gone for good, no undeath for you. Illidan killed Magtheradin, no reason for him to be alive either.

actually u never see Illidan killin Magtheridon, he walks up to him in the cinematic and says his reign is over, shortly after tht Kil'Jaeden shows up, but i agree Illidan DID get cut by Frostmourne, but then again he is half demon and fairly powerful, personaly i think Blizzard made a HUGE mistake when they made key characthers killable in WoW, i mean....are we ever gonna see a new strategy game? and if it DOES show up, wht is it gonna be about? by tht time u prolly made it to Northrend and killed Arthas....which would suck big time if u ask me

  you only truely kill a boss in wow when you can loot the head, like Head of Onyxia, MAgtheridons head,
  Head of Ossirian the Unscarred, heart of hakkar etc.
  we dont kill illdan, we just defeart him(for now.) well thats what the wow lore freaks in my guild says anyways. :)

I think a lot of people are confusing the skull of Guldan with Eye of sargaras jsut thought it would say that

  Mannoroth was the pit lord who originally corrupted the orcs. In WC3 he corrupts Grom Hellscream's clan, causing them to kill Cenarius. Thrall saves Grom and the two of them fight Mannoroth, with Grom getting the killing blow.
  
  In The Frozen Throne, Illidan and company finds Magtheridon at the Black Temple. Illidan defeats the pit lord and claims the temple for himself. It was assumed Magtheridon was killed until Burning Crusade came out.
