Useful ones I made up on the long flights about Azeroth.

/use [button:1] Roasted Quail;[button:2] Morning Glory Dew;[button:3] Tender Wolf Steak
(if you shiftclick the item, it prints the name in the macro box for you)
Click it with left mousebutton = Eat
right mousebutton = Drink
Middle mousebutton(or scroll wheel click) = "Enhanced food" (STA/SPI boost)

/cast [button:1] Humanoid tracking;[button:2] Beast Tracking;[button:3] Hidden tracking
For hunters to bind the 3 most important tracking to one button :) again, LMB=humanoid, RMB=beast MMB=Hidden (rogues/druids)

/castsequence reset=120 Blood fury, rapid fire
Killing Spree!!! Hit it once for blood fury (if its CD is ready), second time (or if CD wasnt ready) Rapid fire :)

/cast [modifier:Alt] Immolation Trap;freezing trap
Drops a freezing trap unless you're holding Alt (this is perfect for binding to a key I.e [F])

/castsequence Strength of earth totem, searing totem
Low lvl enhance shaman, two presses, same button gives 2 totems.

:) Binding multiple skills (tracking/aspects) to a macro has helped clear my UI alot!

/equip Blue brewfest hat
/equip Tuxedo Jacket
/equip Tuxedo pants
/equip tuxedo shirt
/equip yellow brewfest stein
/equip ritual stein
Puts on your suit, hat and gets out your tankards :D
If there was more then 255 chars allowed Id add in:
/use brewfest pony keg

Hopefully I haven't spelt any wrong. Not near the game atm to check. :)

Wow man, this was so helpful. I just made a couple of macros, one to cast all my buffs and one to say hi :P
Thanks for explaining it

When I do group instances I often have trouble picking out  enemy targets because the front lines are so crowded with my party members or totems.  It's really frustrating when you're standing there not doing anything because you can't find a target.

Is there a way to write a macro to select spell targets by "mousing" over them without having to "click" on the individual target?  Can someone offer anything that would make this simpler?

Unless you changed it tab is the default 'cycle nearest enemy' button.  If your group leader marked a skull then tab until you get to it.  If he didn't then tab to the one taking the most damage.

Best of luck!

Thanks SOOO much!  I feared nothing like that would be possible but what you describe is just what I need.

I think what you're getting at is can you cast a spell at someone, by mousing over them? the answer is yes. say you're a healer, but wanted to have the boss targeted. you would use this:

/cast [target=mouseover] <Insert healing spell here>

you would then bind that to a key. put your mouse over the tank, hit the key, and BAM you just healed the tank without anything targeted.

I tried binding my macro to R, and using this macro

/cast [nomodifier] cancelform
/cast [modifier:shift] Bearform

But it only works for the first line. When pressing shift and R, it doesn't work. So what's the problem?

And I presume it will be the same if I add the line
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Catform

EDIT: I ctrl-clicked the names of the spells; in WoW it actually says the whole spell name, so it's not that the spell is mistyped.

How about the modifiers (help) and (harm)? Anybody know?

My guess is:

/cast (help) Intervene (harm) targetoftarget Intervene

Does that work?

I'm not sure if that's what you would use, but I'm pretty sure that you should replace the () with []. I'm not sure if it matters, but I always use brackets in my macros.

it might be that Shift-R is already binded to something

something binded in the main key bindings will always take priority over a macro key binding

thats all i could think of the problem being

/cast [help] Intervene; [help, target=targettarget] Intervene

you have to use help in the second one because the "target=targettarget" is referring to the target of your target
so if you are targeting a bad guy when you use this the macro will check if you can help your current target which it cant if you are targeting the mob and since it cant help the mob it goes on to the next clause which checks if you can aide the mob's target

so if you use this on a friendly player it will help them, if you use it on a mob it will help the person receiving his attacks
