hey. im about to hit 40 and want to go dual wield. i don't no wot weapons to dual wield. i been thinking about daggers due too their speed, which can also be reduced with skills later on.
please can someone give me feedback on what i should do
Slow weapons for a shaman, definitely. Windfury, for example, is a time based proc and can only go off once every 3 seconds, which means it is wasted on a fast weapon. You should probably have it on your Main Hand weapon ONLY, not on both. On the off-hand, also slow, you should try the flametongue, since it also gets more damage off from slower weapons.
One handed maces and axes is what you're looking for.
theres very little Items that are good at your lvl.
But Slow/slow WF/WF
MH/OH
you wil maximize your dps this way.
It's all about DPS (damage per second) forget speed, if you hit next to nothing really fast u still wont do much damage. Just find the highest dps weapons 9be sure not to buy 2 main handed or 2 off haned weapons as you can only use 1 of each of those)

My opinion is is too do the hadn of retrabution for level 40 and another mace,by the time you're lvl 40 you prolly have a "morderitaly" fair one handed mace skill
thanx but r_dovienya how can u set windfury to one weapon and flametounge to the other. i though it was impossible
yes with DW you can have 2 different procs your weapons and as for going WF/WF there is no point as you can only get it to proc once every6 secs now (im pretty sure they increased the time on it) so WF/FT works best with 2 slow weapons slowest that you can possibly get.
at 46 I'm using Heaven's light with crusader and wirt's leg with fiery. Using WF/RB
But are 2hand or DW best for lvl 40 ??
BTW: I think shamans are excellent cause u can choose by playing warrior with 2hand, healer with resto spec, mage with element spec and rogue with DW !!:)
WF/WF slow/slow
or
WF/FT slow/fast
by slow I mean 2,6-3,6
I've never dual wielded as a shaman before, so damned if I know how to apply different procs to the weapons. But I do know it's possible. Just play around with it, I'm sure it's something totally counter-intuitive, but extremely obvious, since Blizzard is like that. (And before any of you get on my case for preaching something I've never tried myself, I just replied the best I could since no one else had at the time).
;D
I have never duel weilded...I am Enhancement...I would rather just have WF proc on a huge swing of a 2 handed axe and then Storm strike them so when they hit me and take beefed up nature damage from my lighting shield. I mean if your wanting to duel weild why not roll a Rogue? I mean honestly it is a good talent but I have done groups with other shamans and when it comes to DPS a 2 handed axe/mace user shaman can out DPS a duel weilder. cause the off hand weapon does half damage anyways...so why not focus it all into one huge swing and have + crit gear and let your WF proc crits? I guess to some it doesnt make sense but a 2 hander is much more reliable on pumping out damage. Both over all and per second when it comes to the shaman class.

In ur main hand u should have a stron weapon that making much DMG and in off hand u need a fast weapon!
Good luck shamys!

I used dual wield from 40 to 48 as an enhancement Shaman. Go WF in your main hand and frost or fire in the off hand. As one buy put above I also used a big DSP two handed axe. Bottom line with a nice...I mean nice 2handed weapon and WF its about the same. ITs fun for the fluy of attacks on the dual wield but I just did not feel like I was doing a lot of dps.
I went elemental at 49 and have not looked back. I'm 69 now and much prefer elemental than enhancement.
Good luck to all

im reading all the input on dual wield and im very curious as to how the shamans instant strike ability plays into that. i would think that flame weapon might benefit the most from that as welll as a slower weapon. any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
My shammy is currently lvl 64, enhance spec. I lvld to 60 pre-bc elemental & loved it but wanted a change. At first i thought dw was a waste of a talent point, but then i got it & whoah. Im now dwing the thrallmar grunt's axes (couldnt find anything better at the time without a lot of instance runs)& i swear i do more dps than with the nice 2h mace i got from blood furnace. I will probably respec back to elemental @ 70, but for now im having tons of fun. (p.s. the new talent that reduces mana cost of shocks pwns :D with that & water shield i almost never have to drink anymore.) SHAMMIES ROCK!!
p.p.s I have wf on both weapons & it procs often enough to keep me happy :)
RB takes a debuff if used on a offhand... FT.WF and FB dont(i think)
slow/slow WF/WF or slow/fast WF/FT is the way to go...
dual wield is better for raidin then 2H weps... the more crits you get the more procs u get of unleashed rage... and a 10% AP buf all the time on tanks hunters and melee dps is good for the raid
im dual wieldin 2.6/1.8 WF/FT and im doing as much dmg in kara as the rouges. huntes. locks and mages. plus im buffin the dmg of other players alot
for dw to work a lot of hit rating is good... i have 168....with ap of 1368(i think) 24%crit
hope this helps some of you ppl... have fun
Haldamirr / neptulon
im a duel wielding shaman and in all the groups i hav been unless they way hihger than me im at the top or at least top 3 in damage. i use WF on main and FT on off hand. the way i see it the faster u hit the more dmage u do (espically with FT adding 80-100 dmg every hit on offhand)
I'm dual wielding at 60 still. Currently I'm trying out fist weapons and they're doing the job nicely, but mace (with rockbiter) and axe (with windfury) have always proven to be the best combination I've found for dual wield high dps. If duel wielding be sure to to drop agil totem to increase your chance of crit'n. Also I know some duel wielders who run windfury on 2 daggers for faster attacks with more crits.
I DW a nice 2.50 mace MH (WF) and off hand A 1.30 dagger may sound nuts but puting FB on it procs a lot and it does over 200damage plus firery enchant its does pull some real nice damage
allso in the endgame doing big bursts is not so good if you stay enhance aggro will come your way and some mobs can 1-5 shot you dead but by DWing you have lower aggro and you can keep DPSing and only be damaged by the AoEs .............i hate
I've seen some pretty good duel wielders put some crazy dmg, but in pvp its all about burst dps... before they can heal or drink a pot. Thus the slowest, hardest hitting 2 hander is ideal, IF, you have a decent strength build and + crit. Fights against fathermathew never last longer than 6 seconds. Can some please link or show me the website about the 3 second rule on WF... My friend doesn't believe blizzard did that and I can't find it on the web.
ive been doing slow main hand with windfury, and fast offhand with frostbrand. WF is wasted on the offhand because you do 50% less damage with the offhand, also the 3sec cool down. i want my 2 extra hits to be taken with my more powerful main hand weapon. i feel FB on a fast weapon is good as it will have more chances to proc, gives the snare effect, it can crit (unlike RB) and is magic damage which is nice versus high armor opponents. i also like a fast offhand weapon to proc more crits feeding flurry and shamanistic rage
top three isnt much to brag about in a 5man group considering 2 of the classes have to be a tank and a healer...both of these classes should not be able to outdps any of the three dps'ers so third dps still isntvery good
use a slow main hand, windfury would do a lot of damage, on the off hand, use a fast weapon, and frostband it, so if it hits more often, frostband procs more, slowing the target, and plus frostband does quite good damage, NOT.
DW all the way, DW WF/WF is proven to be the highest source of DPS from shaman and makes us a real contender for some of the most wanted dps classes. 2h is fun in PvP if ya want to run around one shotting clothies, but for leveling it's too slow. just make sure you DW 2.6+ weapons and not daggers. dagger enc shamans suck.
I haven't seen much difference in Slow/Fast WF/FT and Slow/Slow WF/WF. I've done alot of testing on this. The difference may well be armor. WF/WF DOES have the better numbers, but FT bypasses armor. Given the global CD for WF, it may well be that WF/FT will give the most dmg against most MOBs.
As for a general DW rule...2h in PvP, DW in PvE. 2h IS NOT just for 1 shotting clothies. 90% of the time your opponent is moving/jumping/CCing enough that you are not going to just stand there and wail on him like you can MOBs. The 2H means the 1 hit you get will feel like a mack truck.
PS: My PvP bud is a frost mage, so they do stand there while I wail on them.
DW FTW!
