Not at all! If you want to know information about a boss, go to WoW Wiki. If you want to hear everyone's opinion about the boss, the boss's neighbor and said neighbor's dog, and then cry to Blizzard about it before shooting each other with laser guns, then come to Thottbot. Pewpew!
The screenshots are nice, though. Good to see the Kil'Jaeden one from WC3.
A quick lore guide to the superpowers of WoW and why BC fucked everything up:
Ragnaros: Fire Lord, he was the general of the fire elemental army. Definitely below godhood.
Nefarian and Onyxia: Offspring of Neltharion (Deathwing), the black dragon aspect. Strong, but not Aspects.
C'thun: One of three Old Gods. Not in its complete form, since it lost to the titans in the battle of the old gods. Fallen god, very strong but nonetheless mortal.
Kel'thuzad: Lich lieutenant of Arthas. Nasty fellow. First hero from WC3 to be killable. Coming back as a level 80 boss in Naxrammas v2.0 in WotLK.
Then BC came out...
Prince Malchezaar: Huh? Who? He's a nasty demon who moved in on Medivh's patch. He wasn't killing anyone, but hey, we need loot right? No great loss.
Gruul: Another nobody. Going well, some good BEM lore to support him, and a nice raid to start 25's on. Mortal.
Lady Vashj: Illidan's Naga lieutenant. One of the three big bad guys from WC3. Wouldn't be bad if it stopped here, but...
Kael'thas Sunstrider: Illidan's Blood Elf Lieutenant. Ok, so both commanders down and both armies in disarray. Not looking good.
Archimonde: What? Why? Let the wisps do it! If the combined might of all mortal races could stall him half an hour, then why can 25 players bring him down? This is fucking with lore in a bad way, and its a cop out to create encounters without unique lore.
Illidan Stormrage: OK. He's dead. The second most powerful mortal being and second biggest villian in WC lore. Gone, in the bag, all over.
From a post-WC3 perspective, that leaves... Arthas, and Kil'Jaeden, as the only enemies left. Since the Lich King broke free from Kil'Jaeden's command, and now has fused with Arthas, their combined power is likely exponentially stronger than that of Illidan. So, come level 80, I expect another Archimonde/Illidan dual raid setup for Kil'Jaeden and Arthas. But until then, Blizzard have very few places to go.
They've already said we're going to fight the Blue Dragon Aspect in The Nexus at 80... if we kill, rather than simply defeat, the manifestation of Arcane Magic on Azeroth, I'd just love to think about the consequences that should come from that.
While floundering for ideas for new content, let us remember how Blizzard decided to kill every decidedly mortal enemy in BC, and leave nothing except the demigods for WotLK. And if WoW keeps going beyond Arthas... and we start hunting Titans... I think I would have to stop following WC lore. Until BC, the lore was fragile and balanced. Now everyone bad is dead and everyone good is alive, and there is no balance. Northrend is the only threat to anything, and beyond that, we're outsourcing again.
I totally aggree with your statement about the "lazy lore" as I like to call it, introduced in BC.
I DO enjoy playing BC and instances like Karazhan who are truely FUN to play. But yes, as per the lore, there could have much more detailed work been done by Blizzard, who's employees are usually quite creative concerning story lines.
Since we all know that Illidan does actually die and with Patch 2.4 Kil'Jaeden will be a killable boss, I once again have to throw in a couple of ideas since actually KILLING the leader of a demon army (Burning Legion) and sort of peronification of evil does not make sense to me.
Why not creating Bosses that are not actually killed, but somewhat escape when realizing that their failure is imminent. This has been used with almost all super villains in any sort of continuing series:
James Bond never caught Blofeld, Spider Man keeps chasing the various descendents/relatives of the Green Goblin, Super Man never kills Lex Luthor, Batman never kills the Joker (ok... let's see what happens in the next Film ;-)... this is a never ending list. The main villain escaping and still being an all-overshadowing threat is a simple dramatic scheme applied to ALL successfull fiction series. Why are you (Blizzard) not continuing to apply this in WoW? It would simply make the game more believable. OK... till now, Arthas is the that sort of Villain, but he is killable now? Does this mean you want to end the series?
OK... let's say Arthas will sort of escape and continue to be the main enemy: By just having one super Villain (Arthas in this case) the Job is not done. WoW is way too complex to simply have one of this kind. Kil'Jaeden should be the same, Illidan also should have been... maybe it would even have been interesting that low level Bosses like the King from BRD to re-appear (that was an interesting story line) maybe Hakkar being summoned/ressurrected once more or even VanCleef with a stronger, new Defias Gang regrouping etc.
People would have fun when at high level facing a Boss from long time ago who escaped that time and is ready to have his revenge.
It would even have been great if Illidan was not killed, but sort of escapes outland or maybe even in a dramatic scene after the fight, kills Maiev, making it sort of a "to be continued..." story and causing other interesting plot possibilities by killing her (new Expansion: Wrath of the Night Elves :-P ). Imagine how great it would be if he would re-appear in Northrend in WotLK or even show up for another fight with arthas? Also then, Blizzard would not need to create weird and never heard of Bosses/Evils that contradict the basic lore. They could stick to the ever so loved Villans, having them as a sort of constant threat that has to be fought back.
The Ahn'Qiraj thing was an interesting change and this was a newly introduced but believable threat which also justifies a sort of final kill of C'Thun just as Zul'Gurub and Hakkar... Qiraj/ZG threat removed - Let's move back to the actual enemies: Arthas/Scourge/Illidan/Burning Legion etc.
Yes... Prince Malchezaar(or whatever)... who the hell is he?
Why not e.g. (whooooaaaa... major Plot following) the King of Stormwind (that Storyline was never continued) who looked for refuge when trying to flee from the Defias who captured him and then became corrupted and possessed by a remaining echo of sargeras that was still present and bound to the Tower? The goal then would be to sort of redeem him from the curse by either being forced to kill him or having him, when almost dead, be releast from sargeras' echo? Also, there are then endless possibilities of what happens after the King is released.
It really would be a shame if in WotLK Arthas is actually killed. He should also sort of escape (to another realm? Emerald Dream?) after the Battle, making a following expansion sort of a pursuit of Arthas/Lich King.
Same thing should have been done with Kel'Thuzad as now it seems ridiculous that Naxx is made a new Lvl 80 raid with him again as a Boss... He should have maybe escaped to Nothrend and therefore have been ready for the WotLK expansion.
Well, I sort or bombed the community now with ideas. Some may like them, some may not, but I believe we all aggree on the "Villain escaping" theory.
I see what you are saying about bosses "getting away", but I'm not sure about you, but if my guild was downing Illidan, and all of a sudden he just "ran away", even if he left full tier 6 behind in his "escape" I would still be pissed, because i wanted to DOWN him. thats the whole thing- DOWNING the bosses, not kicking their ass and then letting it go.
I agreed, but u are gonna face Kael'thas again, cause he is trying to summon Kil'jaeden in the sunwell plateau, just as the highborne tried to summon Sargeras.
Many people should have noticed by... Strat Live side? that WoW is simply Blizzards tool to allow players to experience the lore and universe first hand. That was Balnazzar.
Then came Ragnaros, who we've never heard of outside of the WC games. Finally, a true Raid encounter, something to pump the players up to feel like truly epic heroes.
Then came Nefarian. Red flags should have gone up immediately (well, should have come at Ony, but she was the first Raid boss requiring some lvl of strategy and cooperation, so everyone was being blindsided by that fact and not realizing the trend to come). People should have noticed that Blizzard has officially copped out, and has turned WoW into a virtual arena where WC lore nuts could fight their favorite villains. At least back then, Blizzard was still cranking out consistent and believable plots to back up this virtual arena.
Then came Kel'thuzad ans Sapphiron. That's still believable, to some degree. It was established that Kel was left behind to oversee Arthas's empire while he was away, so that explains just why he is where he is, why he waited until now to unleash the new Scourge threat, and just what the hell a Naxxramas and why it's there.
Then came TBC, and as we all know all hell broke loose. Blizzard has officially stopped bothering to provide plausible lore, or even adhere to the existing one. Instead they've ret-conned or shoe-horned villains and enemies into the world, while patching together different excuses as for why we, the so called Heroes, are engaged in wanton destruction all over Outland. Now it's all about throwing all known villains into the game and letting players duke it out with them.
Might as well turn this into a true DoTA and just create 3 teams: The Alliance, The Horde, and The Despicable League of Villains, plop them down into a flat, textureless landscape, and let them have a FFA. It would amount to about the same thing.
Oh wait, we already have private servers for that.
You have chosen to see what you belive, that there is no more lore to it all. But you forget, that there is tons of lore left. The Dragon Aspects (Malygos is gonna be in WOTLK for example,or whatever his name is),the Ashbringer,Queen Aszhara,Neptulon,Old gods (Emerald Dream) and the exotic south islands.
Just cause all the "big" villians that are in the spotlight die, doesnt really mean that its all over.
Ok, all the KJs and KT escape at least once. Kil'jaeden will be pushed back to the Twisting Nether by Anveena and Kalecgos with the help of the raid.
Kael'thas was ressurected/saved by his green orb thing, but was sadly killed in MgT.
Finally Kel'Thuzad was not killed, just defeated. The Argent Dawn were bringing the object to permenantly seal his death, when the Scourge ambushed them and stole the object, allowing KT's revival. In Naxx II, we will likely destroy KT for good.

Ummm...well, as much of a good theory of the undead ambushing Argent Dawn is, that wasn't really what happened. It never says what really happens.
Sorry but you're both wrong. This is an extract from WoWWiki which i came across yesterday after looking up the Phylactery of Kel'Thuzad. After "killing" Kel'Thuzad and looting his phylactery you get the quest The Fall of Kel'Thuzad and on gaining it you get presented the intro text:
"The phylactery is all that remains of the master of Naxxramas. Your better judgment dictates that you destroy the phylactery, preventing the lich from ever reforming. Thankfully, you seldom listen to that internal voice of reason.
Someone at Light's Hope will pay you hugely for this artifact. Who cares if Kel'Thuzad regenerates to full power?
After doing so you bring the phylactery to Father Inigo Montoy at the Light's Hope Chapel and he continues the quest with this text:
BLESSED LIGHT! What foulness do you hold, (boy/girl)?
The short delivery quest now ends with this text:
In all my days of living I would never have expected to see this...
<Father Montoy appears to be salivating.>
Oh yes, you will be rewarded dear (boy/girl). You will be greatly rewarded. Give it here. Now!
Now being bewildered by this text and having nothing better to do i looked up Inigo Montoy and at the top of his page all my questions were answered as to how Kel'Thuzad returns in WoTLK:
Following the assault on Naxxramas, the agents who defeated Kel'Thuzad delivered his phylactery to Inigo for payment. However, the Argent Dawn reports that they never received the phylactery. It would thus appear that Montoy's true master is not the Argent Dawn at all, but so far nothing is known about his motivations.
It is interesting to note that in the quest "An End And A Beginning",(a WoTLK quest i may add) Bolvar Fordragon insinuates that the Lich Thel'zan the Duskbringer is in fact Inigo Montoy, raised as a Lich by Arthas.
I believe this should put an end to any Kel'Thuzad queries you may have :)....and i posted this on Illidan's page? lol :P
Nah, you don't really Kill Kil'jaeden, you simply defeat him. He gets distracted or something like that for a moment, then loses balance, then pretty much falls down the Sunwell, or at least thats what I think happens.
ok yeah dude i completely agree with u on the whole "Escaping" theory.
if i know blizz they probly already have some weirdo lore about illidan. Maybe arthas rose him from the dead as his servant. and BTW i thought Nite Elfs were Immortal. so illidan couldnt have died?
anyways i have 1 more thing too add about Prince Malcheaar.
i have a theory that he is Kil'Jaeden or Archimonde's son.
Why?
1. He is an Eredar which is the race that Archie/KJ are.
2. if u pay attention in the fight he says " Not only do u face Malchezaar alone, But the egions i command" referring to the Burning Legion.
im not sure on this but i believe Archie is the commander and KJ is the recruiter.
so when he says Legions he commands maybe he is heir to the position of commanding the burning legion, since he is titled "Prince" and looks exactly like Archimonde
Just throwing that in there
If there would be a "last boss" i think it would be Sargeras, the one who commanded Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde.
Kael'thas doesn't die in Tempest Keep. In patch 2.4 he summons Kil'jaeden through the Sunwell. I've seen a screenshot of him and he's only got 2 green things floating around him and a big crystal embedded in his chest. It could be the crystal keeping him alive, it could be the green things, it could be because Kil'jaeden wants him alive. But he dies on Quel'danas, not in Outland.
Blizzard is just making games but they just keep killing off the best bosses like c'mon Arthas cannot die or WoW is over. Unless they do the same thing with Kel'thurzad like hes still alive? Arthas better be incredibly strong and like kill 3 people each swing lol, and like some crazy frost spells that kill everyone in one shot and 'IF' he dies (which he shouldnt) he should atleast like send a blast wave, knocking everyone off the big icecrown and kill them. He should have all one shot spells and dmg and so strong its like horde and alliance teaming up on him against his scourge and him.
