I am a level 28 mage and I haven't gotten a new staff of a quest in a long time (I am playing with an icicle staff). Where should i go to get a new weapon and what is a nice weapon for a lvl 28-30 (arcane and fire mage)? Also when can i use daggers and swords and which type of weapon do u recommend? And finally, i have a decent wand but enemies always resist or are immune to it...are wands ever useful and do solid damage? Thanks.

If ur lvl 28 then go to Gnomeregan in a group and i cant really remember where but if u go deep in the dungeon with a group one of the mobs drop HYDROCANE- Blue staff and ideal for frost mages and requires lvl 27.

About the wands: The wands dont really matter the staff actually deals more damage (unless u are an arcane mage and u have used the talent- Wand Specialization.) Anyways just turn to a frost mage cuz they rule and the weapon masters can train u new weapon skills at any lvl in any major city.

In response to enemys resisting your wand.  Do you have you skill maxed out or close to maxed out for your wand?  This is more than likely why they are resisting unless your attacking enemies many levels higher than you.  So if you are not close to max for your level, just sit there and wand guys for a little while.  It should increase steadily.  Hope this helps. 

Or wait a week until patch 2.3 comes out, and weapon skill levels are removed from the game!

I'm a lvl 17 Blood Elf mage, and want a better weapon. Where would i go to buy something better (other than the auction house -_-+)

Shattrath City (TBC) has a nice collection of Mage Staves from the vendor. You could ask a level 65 mage to portal you there, or maybe ask someone in your guild or another player to purchase one for you. Booty Bay may have one or two midrange. Otherwise

I'd recommend the Bloodscalp Channeling Staff http://thottbot.com/i1998

You can pick it up from the AH for between 1-3 gold or you can try to get a drop from a Bloodscalp Shaman in Stranglethown Vale but the drop rate is quite low.
