I am new with my rogue, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend which talent is the best to go with? Please let me know your suggestions

The best talent tree for PvE is Combat. Im 46 and i can use Blade flurry, faster evasion, Adrenaline Rush and i dont need to be behind the target! So if u like to level up fast you should probably pick combat
The best spec is assasination for leveling
i am a lvl 70 rogue combat is best for lvling :) i hope you can do some thing with this info
i hav to agree to, i found combat best for leveling :)
That the guy before me said, Combat for lvling, raiding, party stuff. Sub/assassination for BGs, ganking and the fun stuff. I never did like mutilate though. Backstab ftw~
for lvling, first thing i would do is get imp SS, imp gouge, and precicision (you miss a lot otherwise and it SUCKS). then i would get the first 16 points in assassination as these points are vital to pretty much any spec. This will put you about lvl 35, from there you need to decide if you want to go assassination or combat and just start working you way down one of those trees. With either tree, i would recommend using a sword or mace in your MH and the fastest OH you can find so that you don't have to be behind your target to do a lot of damage. obviously, if you go assassination, you will switch to daggers as soon as you get mutilate (both daggers should be about 1.7 speed to maximize your mutilate damage). If you go assass, make sure you get vile poisons, cold blood, and the thing that gives you extra combo points as first priorities. if you go combat, make sure you get dual wield specialization, blade furry, adrenaline rush, and anything that increases SS damage/energy regain as a first priority. other than that, its just gonna be a matter of your preference. Thats what i suggest, gl deciding what to do:D
Personally, i LOVE mutilate. CheapShot+Mutilate+SF+Ruthlessness = ownage
Personal preference really - combat is usually best though.
combat i would say is the best for groups but then assasanation is the best for solo lvling
It Depends on how you would like to play. If you want to pretend you are a warrior, except you forgot to pick the class, then be a Combat Sword Rogue.
If you want to use all the "skills" available to you, and be an "old school" sneaky lethal first blow fella... Be a Assassination Dagger Rogue. Of course, now that I hit 68, with this new patch, I am having alot of fun in the SUB Tree with Shadow Step. But back to the main topic... Even if you go combat, two non combat talents I consider ESSENTIAL for a solo PVE rogue are Master of Deception and Malice. When I check the talents people pick and I see Malice isnt selected, I just cant understand it.
Sub is by far the best talent line. with the new patch it is even better, you can shadow step even while not stealthed. it is good for pvp cause they have a less chance to see you and you can sneek up on them.
with the 2.3 patch shadowstep has become IMO the ultimate PvP spec...1 ambush on the healer in BG's and you almost certainly stop the flag carrier or save the farm lol, then you can just pop preperation and hit a big BS on another clothie...just my opinion though.
FOR THE HORDE!
most rogues are going 0/34/27 or a variation of it for the prep/adrenaine rush with there choice of weapon spec in combat for the 2 CD's from sb and all the goodies from combat
Reasoning behind not having malice is simple. Towards high end you can get more then enough crit with gear to use these 5 points elsewhere. Like more AP or AGI in the lower sub tree.
the hemo/combat build is very nice for PvE or PvP. go down sub enough to get hemo and the rest combat. youll devistate a lot of people really fast.
Blud.. the best talent over all is combat. Adrenilin ruch has saved me about 98 times.
first of all...post above: l2spell
my opinion: i am a sub spec rogue (my name came from my earlier warlock) and i have points until shadowstep and rest in assassination (lvl 65). i find having sub spec most useful because i can go and pvp then transition to lvling and questing quite easily without spending my gold for respeccing. i use usually 2 daggs but sometimes if the improvement is big enuff, i choose a sword or fw...NEVER A MACE. maces were given to rogues as another weapon choice because blizz would be giving them 2 few choices with just fw daggs and sword. just my opinion Holybane <Aftermath> 65 rogue Nazjatar (US)
I have a 68 Sub Specc'd Rogue with a (8,0,48) build. Malice and Imp. Backstab are my 8 Assassination points. Ghostly Strike is also highly suggested, although sadly under-used. I can blow Evasion and Ghostly Strike and have a 95.27% dodge chance ( without blowing a trinket) and have a 45% chance per dodge to add a combo point to my target ( Setup). Plus with Preperation I can do it twice a fight, not to mention Vanish, Shadowstep, Ambush x2. With this build and only moderate gear I have killed plenty of 70s. Plus I still have 3 unspent talent points, for a total of 5 points to play with at 70.
For a particularly nasty and violent, albeit short, fight try: Premeditation, Shadowstep, Ambush, Hemorrhage, Kidney Shot, Backstab. If they are still alive : Ghostly Strike, Hemorrhage, Sinister, Sinister, Hemorrhage and Eviscerate. Game over. /Dance. M4L1C3- a.k.a. Fayde-BE Rogue, Korialstrasz

Here is my build with the 5 unspent points (at 70)
I'm a Sub rogue and i love every sec of it. I own Ass. and Combat rogues...they can't sneak up on me...and what you don't see...will kill you. That is wat i think. I mean Imp Ambush + Shadowstep owns. I'm lv 58 and Noerogue is my main. NO special twinking or anything and I can hit 1800+ ambush and 1300+ eviscerate. And I'm all Sub except 8 in Ass. Right now i am using the lv 58 WSG dagger as my main hand and the lv 48 WSG dagger in my off hand. Go to the armoury and check my talent build.
O and i've always been Sub...i found no problem lving or in instances...but it all just matters on the way YOU play. Just mess around, have fun.
atm i'm a 52 rogue and using a mixture of combat and assination talents (some people would say i'm a wannabe ninja)
anyone tell me the best armour for rogue as well
Leather is always a good option.
Combat is best for sustained combat. For example, fighting mobs close to or above your level that you think you can beat but can't just pwninate in the first 10 shots, the kind of fight that might take over a minute. Assassination is more of the one-shot-pwnd-your-face-in-with-a-massive-crit spec. This is where you go behind someone, use an opener, build up 5 combo points real quick, use a finisher, and by then they're likely dead. Basically this is what you use for burst damage, but the longer a fight lasts the worse for you. Than, sublety is more to do with poisons, stealth improvement, and the like. This helps you to avoid combat altogether. Combine this with assassination and you can pop out of nowhere, pwn someone's face in, send them running confusedly in the other direction, vanish, and by the time they refocus on where you were you're gone. Wash rinse and repeat and you have a dead noob.
i suggesting u be combat.combat is a very spec for lvling up!i was subetly but it wasn't so easy to lvl up after this i changed them to combat and i lvl up more easy than subetly a subetly spec if good for pvp combat is not the best talent for pvp but its good for lvl up combat its good in pvp but better is subrtly if u want to lvl easy take combat if u want pvp be subetly.(subetly is good for pvp but it isn't easy to lvl up)(combat is good in pvp and lvl up but in pvp subetly is better than combat)in conclusion better to be combat and hwen u be 70 and u want be gladiator change them to subetly:) This post is faded because it has a negative score.
Dude if u wanna piss off the opposite faction go sub. 55%+on ambush pwnes.
i levelled to 70 with combat, which was fine and took relatively a short time.at 70,now i do bg's alot,i respecced to sub.i tried assass, and imo it wasnt as good as sub.but thats just me :) with imp ambush, more damage coming out of stealth,hemo,+15% agi and 10% att power mixed with lethality, malice and imp backstab in ass i fimd it hits REAL hard coming out of stealth.and if that cloth user doesnt have much resilience......r.i.p. but for prolonged damage, like in pve or when that horde/allianced in bg breaks your stealth,id go for combat with maces or swords.hope this helps...btw my rogue is called pek on the server(eu) dragonblight, check him out on the armory .
I'm not sure what talent is best for kara/raiding, and what weapons?
the best talent for PVE is combat. the best talent for isntances is probaly assassination since the tank will take the damage and you can stay behind him. sub is pretty much good for either but not great.
it all depends on how you will be leveling
rofl This post is faded because it has a negative score.
for lvling the best is combat for pvp sub and assasination and assasionation is very good for raiding..
this is my build http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fheboZZxMe0hGRsgst for some reason its rly good for lvling aswell as pvp =D
Well, I have 70 pvp rogue.
The main mistake of that hunter was going AFK I believe :))
yeah i say subs/assi its the % base from the two that make it the best combo ,high enders are either assi or combat as they pwn no matter what but a real rogue should be subs assi i belive thats what ive been all the way through and its bliss,if you are onto you agility ,energy and stuns at the right time ,it is hard to perfect but when its done youll give these lame asses tht are epic and dont know how to use them,a run for their money,seriously,.....enjoy :}
ATM, I am lvl 24 rogue spec'd 5 in Assass. and the rest in Subtlety. I find leveling to be very easy, do to the fact that I can sneak up on just about anything my level to 3 levels above, and Ambush the sh*t out of them. Furthermore, I have my 70 spec tree all planned out, and it is as follows.:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3053001250421305010513201041000000000000000002502000000000000000000#none I feel Malice and Imp. BS are vital to any spec, and Imp. SS, Gouge, and Precision are also clutch. The rest, IMO, goes to show!
I didn't read all the comment's so I hope Im not repeating anything. I would say that all rogues need in the beginning is Masters of deception, At lvl 29 with 5 points in Master of deception, I am at the yetti cave in darrow hill (Hillsbrad). I can stealth down into this cave(huggin walls of course)And pretty much pick and choose my fights with the lvl 31 yetti's not being able to detect me.....I decided to put all my talents into combat ..cause now i had enough to go down that tree and get the 50% increase of damage on my offhand weapon....so I did....well now im killin things twice as fast ...incredible...well I go back to the cave, and every yetti out there came after me...lvl 30s that paid no attention to me earlier..now noticed me...my stealth was exposed by any mob higher then me. so now the only way into the cave is to kill a path down there....not to mention alli players will see u out of stealth more often. so to make this quick....I found that combat you kill faster but u end up in more fights and aggro..and therefore u die more often...I think any good lvlin combat rogue needs Mod as a base talent..so he can do what he does....Oh yea if you r horde.....dont roll Orc,Trollor bloodelf rogues...waiting for a trinket to rid yourself of fear is just plain stupid....Undead Rogues were made out of the box for this.....WOTF....Rocks
im a lvl 42 sub rogue atm i love it. i always crit hit with ambush and can take things about 3-4 lvls above me with little or no problem even if they detected me. EG i was lvl 40 when i was doing the nagras and the elixer quest in stv had no prob
ATM I am a lvl 26 subtlety rogue, and I have had NO problem leveling. I gain levels so fast, I barely have time to upgrade my equipment. I can pwn in PVP and PVE anyone and anything 4 levels above me. I was in WSG last night, and I led the board in Dmg dealt with 24548!! I beat out twinks and locks who normally do the most dmg!! At lvl 26! I crit 25% of the time, and dodge 27%. Then all I have to do is pop evasion and ghostly strike, and my dodge chance is above 100% wbich means, I can NOT be hit!! I normally crit for about 800 with ambush. I feel the following spec combo is the best, and Ill explain why.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?0250030000000000000000050050000000000000000005500501330301210501051 First of, having the first 10 points in Assass is key, because you get the +5% crit as well as Remorse Attacks, which ups your crit chance by 40% after every kill. Imp back stab, well that goes without saying. Under combat, Lightning reflexes and precision are key, bc any rogue knows, you miss ALOT! 5% makes a big difference. Now for subtlety. Imp ambush is a must, as well as Camo. Now, by this time, your dodge chance should be rediculous, so Opportunity is just another way to instantly and without even having to use any energy, to add combo points to your target. Pop premeditation, and right off the bat you have almost 5 points from one ability and 2 dodges. The rest, as they say, is history.
I just thought id add a little comment myself, ive found my spec as i have at the moment excellent in pvp. ill admit i havent got all the nice CD's but stunlocking is so easy as this spec. Also a little note of how effective it was i managed to take down a lv 70 epic shammy from full hp to no hp 2-3 times in a row without breaking stunlock (until he managed to get self rez on him /cry. )
after searching for a while ive managed to find the shamans name (wanted to annoy him for trying to stop me doing the mana-forge shutdown quest)btw i was 68 when this happened too. Anyway heres his link. http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Snottinator heres the rogue spec too btw http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Whitedragon
combat for leveling but if u want to go bg use assasination whith as many talents that increase bs crit use crippling poisen aswell to make it easier to get behinde your target
I'm a fairly new Human Rogue at lvl 28 that likes to do PvE solos and group grinding and quests. I want to respec a little and I'm thinking of the following build of 30/10/21. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement?
Assassination (30) Eviscerate 3/3 Malice 5/5 Ruthlessness 3/3 Lethality 5/5 Improved Poisons 4/5 Cold Blood 1/1 Improved Kidney Shot 3/3 Quick Recovery 1/3 Seal Fate 5/5 Combat (10) Sinister Strike 2/2 Lightening Reflexes 3/5 Precision 5/5 Subtlety (21) Master of Deception 3/5 Opportunity 2/5 Dirty Tricks 2/2 Camouflage 5/5 Initiative 2/3 Ghostly Strike 1/1 Improved Ambush 3/3 Setup 2/3 Preparation 1/1 Specifically, is it better to go with Murder 2/2 and Improved Backstab 2/3 instead of Improved Poisons? Also, is it better to skip Opportunity and put the points in MoD, Elusiveness or Initiative or Setup? Thanks for any assistance. Well, I have 70 pvp rogue.
The main mistake of that hunter was going AFK I believe :)) u wish he was trying to kite me This post is faded because it has a negative score.
second best is subduety
id go ambush gouge vanish shadow step ambush ghostly stike hemmorage evicerate /dance on bosses This post is faded because it has a negative score.
Im only a 29 rogue but sub is pretty good for being sneaky and what not....... AMBUSH FTW!!!!!!!
Ok so i am new to rogues but i made a talent calendar and am wanting to know what can be done to improve my abilities or if i missed anything
here is the link to a screen shot of it on photobucket http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y105/PhoenixSoccer05/talentplanner.jpg
