if blizz separated twinks from nontwinks in BG, the wait time would easily double.  sometimes i enjoy twinks... when i beat them, inspect their equipment and see all blues w/ the best enchants.

Twinks are a problem for new players who don't have a lvl 70 to buy them the cool toys.  They cause problems for the WoW community because people who want to focus on pvp have to play for hundreds of hours before being able to be competitive, and most people who would be interested in a PvP game don't want to spend that kind of time just to get past the threshold. 

Twinks have turned off two people I tried to recruit to play warcraft with me because battlegrounds are a stupid, boring experience for non-twink players.  All you do is rez and die and then log or leave the battleground.
