Im a 52 NE warrior. I just cleared out all talents. Not sure if I should go Arms or Fury. I love to duel wield. I had arms. SOme1 told me not to duel wield with arms. But I really think Mortal Strike is better than Bloodthirst but want to stay at duel wield. PLease help me!!!1
Thottbot > Forums > Classes > Warrior > Talents > FURY OR ARMS??
don't get me wrong, mortal strike can be done dual wielding, but it requires a very specific spec to get it properly, since most arms talents are for dual wielding. This post is faded because it has a negative score.
So you are saying its okay to dual wield in arms spec? I have mortal strike now and using arms spec.
DW in arms spec can work. but in the end you will get more damage from DW in fury spec. bloodthirst does massive crits when you get your AP up a bit. while MS will always be dependent on your weapons tooltip damage.
dw is nice but you dont want to dw in arms. that arms tree is set up for two handers not one handers. and the fact that the dw specialization is fury increases off hand. wich if you dont have is kinda pointless ot dw.
not to mention the new patch added that when dwing whilrwind hits with both weapons and not just main hand. wich is more dmg out of ww and thats a fury tree increase. arms is 2 handed swords axes maces and polearms. fury is one handed weapons. if your trying to dw in arms your an idiot.
Do what you feel is best for you. Everyone has their own play style and opinion on which is better but where is the fun in just relying on everyone else to tell you the exact spe to use. Until end game it doesn't really matter - Arms is nice for 2H big hit single target fights where fury is for more rapid hit, smaller dmag more often against mutliple mobs.
To be honest though you are probably better off mixign the two, the very maximum talents do not make up for losing so many points in the lower end of each tree so spec something like 33/28/0 or something similar. Gte Mortal Strike and Sweeping strikes (now they are in separate trees) and you will have a nicely balanced build. but above all pick the talents that accentuate the skills you use most. If you don't use a skill in your own style of play then don't get any talents that make this better....whats the point. I would also advise against dual weild, but thats a personal opinion. It's nice for PvP against casters as the more rapid hits means interupting casting times and therefore not taking as much dmg. In PvE I found i tended to have too many miss/dodge/block etc and couldn't rely on it hitting when I needed it. It does look mighty cool though!
Just play the way you like! If you enjoy dual wielding, go fury and dual wield, just try to stack up AP as a fury warrior.
I have a 64 arms warrior and I have never been any other spec but I can tell you that I dont think I would change, I am very satisfied with the damage. Although I would like to thank blizz for screwing us arms warriors by taking our sweeping strikes and giving it to fury warriors...Anyway to me arms is the way to go.. I do tank sometimes and its not really a problem either.
death wish is good for every war, screw sweeping strikes/and for the first guy,did u ever they fury with 2h?(17/43/3)
ok there seems to be alot of misguided ppl here
yes you can DW arms, though it will never be as good as 2h arms or DW fury in a nut shell: For pvp the generic build is arms down to MS, and fury down to 3/5 flurry. Use a nice a slow 2h Sword or Mace (NO AXES THEY ARE SHIT), this will produce massive MS's and very good burst dmg. As for DW to interupt spell cast, L2 use pummell... For PvE DW fury is usually the way to go. who ever said 'i dont like DW, too many misses' they are a noob, dont listen to them. Also, no dilpickle2000, bad pickle! If you just stack AP you will be easily out dps'd by a lesser geared fury warrior with hit and less AP. this is because at low levels of hit, hit rating will increase ur dmg more that AP will. Talent fury all the way to Rampage, then arms to impale. Get some gear that has hit rating, because until you get to 95 hit rating (where yellow attacks will no longer miss, assuming you have talented precision in fury tree) every 1% reduction in missing is 1% increase in dmg.(not to mention more attacks landing that will have a chance to crit and proc fluffy or mongoose or windfury and others) From then on hit is no longer as effective, however when well geared you are looking for around 170-200 hit, 2k AP and 35-40% crit unbuffed However an arms MS 2h dps warrior can be a great addition to a melee (and hunter) heavey raid because of their 4% buff to physical attacks (in arms tree near the bottom), although you will find a fury warrior will have higher personal dps. hope this helps :) Mallekai - Kil'Jaeden 70 Fury Warrior
Thanks much man. Yes you all helped but have to say yours really nailed t. You seem to know much about warriors. thx
Basicly Fury for DW and PvE
Arms/fury hybrid for PvP Altho im contemplating as an arms warrior who does PvP all day dropping flurry and getting stance mastery Also if u want to lvl like a madman.. maybe DW with dual lifesteal enchants and Hit rating enchants would prolly do it.. Altho i have no idea how much life is taken with the enchant.. So thats my 2 cents (refund plz)
Im a UD warrior levle 55 with arms I think u should go arms cuz i take off crazy crits of 1000+ and Deep wound rox and mortal strike
but it really depends on wut u r if u use 2h weps thenn arms and if ur duel wield then fury cuz arms specializes in 2h and fury specializes in duel wield
lol 1k crit executes This post is faded because it has a negative score.
Why are axes shit? I was doing the talent calculator and u could get 5% extra crit chance in the tree plus the two hand specialization and cruelty... thats like super ownage. Plz explain
well there is a thing called resil which you will learn of later on. Resil lowers the chance and dmg of a crit. So basically anybody with a resil of 200+ will negate the extra crit rating.
wow you guys know yr stuff i must say :) i was fury warrior from when i first laid my lil eyes on bthat sexy talent all the way to 70, then, as a few go i went to prot, which in turn killed my PvE or slowed it down alot more anyways, trying to go PvP now but fury really just is PvE (in my opinion) others may differ on that, duel weild is a really fun specialty an im gunna miss it goin to Arms but hey gotta do what u gotta do.
Enough of my story now, the basic rule is this; PvP - Arms PvE - Fury and obviously tank is prot.. it is difficult to get a PvE build to do anything decent in PvP unless your verse morons, or just plain lucky :P so just goes down to what you wanna do really. As for the specifics of where to put your points i could not say, i dont even remember where i put mine now that im writing this xD. GL with your build whichever way you choose to go.
This is a good spec for lvling. it works for me anyway

FURY ALL THE WAY!!!
All the guys who seem to know what they're talking about say Precision is a must for DW. But I don't get it.
Base miss chance is 5% + 19% for DW = 24% all up. For each weapon. Basic DW penalty is 50% damage penalty to OH weapon. So with DW specialization giving a damage buff of 25% in the off hand weapon, total DPS = 76% * MHDPS + 76% * 62.5% * OHDPS. Assuming same weapon each hand, DPS = 1.235 * WDPS, or +23.5% damage net for dual wielding. Now assuming 1 point precision reduces miss % to 23% for each weapon, equation becomes: DPS = 77% * WDPS + 77% * 62.5% * WDPS = 1.25125 * WDPS, or +25.125% damage net. So with all 3 points precision: DPS = 79% * WDPS + 79% * 62.5% * WDPS = 1.28375 * WDPS, or +28.375 damage net. So 3 talent points has given +4.875% to DPS. Yeah its okay, but its hardly a must, is it? In other words your enemies die 4.875% quicker. Compare with 3 points in Toughness, which would let you live 6% longer. Or 3 points Blood Craze, which for 10,000 health gives you 300 health on proc, which when modified for armour, will let you live maybe 4.5% longer - on each proc! Lets not even get into Bloodthirst which, in addition to excellent instant damage, will heal maybe 150 health every 6 seconds, for a single talent point. Not to mention the DW specialization in the example which gave +23.5% DPS for 5 talent points, or +4.7% DPS for each one! Can someone please explain why Precision is a must have for DW?
this is my opinion, when i first made my mage(it was my first 70) i got told you have to lvl with fire, i refused and did it with ice. since then talking with people and looking at posts here and other places i see that several people i talked to say ice is the way. im not trying to pat my self on the back here; i simply believe that if your style and guild supports what you got then play how you play best. yes end game changes the rules but till then you should have fun and a good guild will support you. i regularly ask 60+ to help me lvl and any guild that wants to grow will do what it can after you show that you are willing to help others in the guild. even if they are just starting a new guy and have a high end guy help them they will help you.
I recently respeced to fury at level 55 and there was a huge different in my abilities. Monsters which gave me trouble with my arms spec drop in no time with fury. To all those undecided about whether to spec arms or fury, I recomend fury...
Look arms can be used for duel weilding, however it is best you equip a high damage one handed weapon in your main hand then a faster one in off hand. what i would go for is mace spec for the stun then equip 2 mace on your character. Also a high agility benefits arms as critical ditches out even more damage!
ARMS on way to 70 go to fury for damage i would have like to stay arms but i would prefer to crit like crazy but i prefer the fury This post is faded because it has a negative score.
has anyone actually thought about arms raid dps properly?! arms can beat fury easy!! its called slam rotation idiots!!!! look it up on wowwiki if dont believe me!!!! This post is faded because it has a negative score.
prot pwns both XD This post is faded because it has a negative score. death wish is good for every war, screw sweeping strikes/and for the first guy,did u ever they fury with 2h?(17/43/3) I think I mis 2 talentpoints, where did you get them? 17/44 for DW. 33/28 for Slam, if you level fill in the furytree with a 2-hander and L2 use slam, download quartz or somthing.
Quartz? I looked it up. Is there a certain 1 for a timer or a whole package?
Seems most comments here posted are based on lvl 70.Anyone want to post a pre-lvl65 spec for leveling and just a bit a bg's? Btw ,I take it swords are the wtg. Right now I have mortal strike but would like to lvl faster.I realize end game you go w/ whats needed on spec but until then what?ty
hmm no comment? not even a flame?;)
Fury = PvE.
Arms = PvP. If you want to do both, you can't. JK. Unless you are doing high level raids, then you can do PvE and instances just fine with Arms, especially if you are doing PvP because some of the gear there is quite nice. What I recommend is to put about 31 points into arms to get Mortal Strike. Then put the rest into fury. Some people like the tactical mastery in prot, so you might try a point or two there. As for specific talents, just get the ones you want. There is plenty of dispute as to which are best. If there were only one build that was good, then that would make the game very boring. Blizzard has tried to make most talents useful in some cases. This does not mean that all talents are useful for certain builds or tasks. There are no effective PvP builds that have 45 points in Prot, unless you are tanking in AV, and even then... you might just want to bring a shield and use an arms build.
If you like arms but love dual Wielding Lvl to 70 then you can send some talent points too fury and if the new expansion comes out you can send more talent points too fury. ;)
Don't say i'm worng Bloodlust is nice but Mortal stike kills healers i would go with Arms. I have a lvl 51 warrior and i have 34 arms talents 2 fury talents and 6 protection so i went with Arms i'll link my talent tree http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Shattered+Halls&n=Quilan so just mix them up or do only fury or only arms or only protection
Im a lvl 60 Full Fury Duel Wielder.
I have 2 other Warriors as well based on Prot and Hybrid Arms Prot [ I cant even beleive that guy said that axes arent worth a crap..DEAD WRONG PAL! ] Look, the way I break it down will not be any technical scientific solution. I PvP/BG so..this is my perspective from experience in these classes and settings. As many have said, still... it is a preference. I have played many different Hybrid specs with Arms/Fury. The difference is Burst. Arms will give you STRONG bursts of Damage. Blunt Force Kills at a much slower crunch than DW. Fury isnt going to go in for a kill. Fury goes in and shreds through a crowd hitting anything around in a fast furious pace A good duel wielder will know how far to go in, and when to pull back. You should learn to do your own healing. For one, it shows you are not dependant upon a healer and your more likely to [ not all the time ] receive heals when clothies see you doing so. With any Warrior, gear is essential. [ Remember Rule of Thumb in gearing a DW STR/STM/AGI] If you dont have the gear to go full force at the front lines, DONT! you will die and die frequently. You will cause so much attention to yourself due to the fast amounts of Damage you output that if you are not at a point where your HP and Armor are high. Your a threat and done with immedietley. Healers will not waste there time on those who go in and literally die within 2 seconds. And why should they. Healing will be put on those with gear and who can sustain damage. HOWEVER! What you SHOULD be doing at lower levels or low gear, is protecting those Healers and anything that comes near a caster. Stay in the back, protect them, and they will in turn protect you. I guarentee it In your talent[s] and Talent tree, I would HIGHLY suggest learning to do the "dance". That means learning to use your Berserker stance. Learn when to mitigate your damage. Defensive stance will help you in threat but Berserker will add +3% critical hit chance & -20% threat generation. Depending on your Attack Power..you can cause some major major damage with flurry [MAX THAT TALENT] I would also think about reserving 3 points in Protection for Tactical Mastery. This adds a good amount of Threat when you need it in Defensive stance,however...when you want to start putting out the damage, you will reserve 15% of that Rage when you switch to Berserker. This is just a little personal experience info for ya on Fury Duel wielding Warriors. I have had great succes with this and believe me, when it is done right [and you must learn the trade,it wont be overnight...dont expect it] you can turn heads, you can be the top damage in raids, you will get heals, and you will overall be greatly proud of your DW Warrior.. Just my 2 copper!
well i like to use two swords in arms because my weapons are two bloodrazors. and i get major bleed damage/plus i switch to to a shiels when i get in danger/i have tried fury but cant get the bleed bonus or deepwounds from my bloodrazors . so it depends on your gear as well.
Dual wielding as Arms is FAIL
You heard that, it's useless to dual-wield as Arms.
Just level as Fury. I wasted so much time in the lower levels trying to decide which spec to level as. it comes down to the fact that DW Fury is awesome for sustained DPS, MS Arms is awesome for burst DPS, and Prot is good for tanking.
